...and the bill chill continues. Record breaking lows here in Chitown. Wind chills expected in the -50!! Shoveled the drive 5 times yesterday, and a plow finally got down my street, so now have to shovel the end of the driveway as well as the drifts that keep reforming after I shovel them. argggh! Well, on the bright side - not going to work today, they haven't even plowed the expressways yet.
Stay warm, stay safe & happy Monday. Big pot of coffee on for warming up.

Good morning, Cheryl and all that follow....it was 66F here at 8am, but the front started in with wind and rain right after...now I bet it dropped at least 10 degrees...how do I know??? warm in the 5er...cooler outside...windows are all steamed over...
It's a preview of things to come...
Had a wonderful afternoon yesterday....Andy & Gwen surprised us with a boat trip up the Altamaha River to "wild life" watch...will post here later the photos, but we saw quite a few eagles and other birds, along with a Raccoon sleeping in a tree...dolphins, too, but my pics of them were awful...had a great time, very relaxing...
Okay, got to do some laundry and help Ernie get things tied down for the wind and weather proof the water lines for the "Big Chill" here...
Coffee's on and sausage/biscuits ready...Help yourselves..
Stay warm and have a good day...

Good Morning Cheryl, Lori and all who will be checking in later. It is a brisk -2 here warming up to +3 but tomorrow the real warm up begins!! I left the faucets in the front bathroom and kitchen dripping last night and all is well. Should I leave them drip all day or will using them off and on today keep them from freezing?
I don't think we will be venturing out today, we didn't get but about 3" of snow but the ice underneath has made roads not that great. I know everyone farther south is suffering just as much as y'all aren't use to or prepared for low temps.
Glad you made biscuits and gravy this morning Lori, it is my favorite! What nice friends to surprise you with a fun boat trip.

Good Morning
We have made it up to 12 degrees heading for a high of 15 for the day. Wind chill warnings still going thru noon tomorrow with a low of 3 forecast for tonight. Brrrrr. The ground is white but I think we got more sleet than snow; what ever it is is only about an inch deep and not going anywhere for couple of days. Neither am I; in fact don't plan to open an outside door other than to let Nicky in and out. Sure am glad I made the trip back to campground early yesterday to get the 4 gal jugs of water and put more antifreeze in traps and toilet bowl.
Now I need to work on talking myself into doing something more constructive than play games on computer today.
Stay warm and safe out there.

So sorry for the COLD weather many are experiencing. Still no rain here in Northern California. Watching the 49ers beat the Packers yesterday in freezing Green Bay it was 73 here at my house. What a difference! Stay safe and warm everyone.

Good noontime all!
I took down my Christmas tree this morning, fixed both screen door latches, and re-hung my wall canvas picture (and it's crooked, dang it) but it's gonna stay that way until I feel better. I just brought in my 4 shrubs that I still haven't had the chance to plant as it's to get below freezing here tonight. Hard to believe as it's a very warm 75 degrees out there right now. As for the rest of the day, I think it'll be napping and watching TV as I coughed all night long and I am exhausted. I hope that wherever you all are you don't freeze pipes or noses or anything tonight. I know there's nobody in this group who won't bring the furry ones inside, but I fear for those other poor critters who will have to suffer through this coldness.
By the way, those lemon "brownies", so-called, that I made turned out HORRIBLE! They are inedible and I will be tossing them out with the rubbish tomorrow! ACK! Too juicy, the icing never set, they taste horrible, too. I will be tossing that recipe out with them! Somewhere there must be a good recipe for lemon squares that will taste good. However, not for now as I am back on the Atkins diet and I intend to eat as few carbs as possible. This worked for me many years ago, and lowered my cholesterol, as well, in spite of eating heavy cream, bacon, cheese, sour cream, eggs, and stuff like that. I lost about 65 pounds back then and was wearing size 8 jeans! I am hoping it will work just as well this time around. Happy Monday!

Five degrees here for the daily high with snow and blowing snow. The schools are closed, the courts are closed, the library is closed, the bookstore is closed, the deli is closed, and even the college has canceled classes! I do believe we are having a Winter Storm!

Thanks, Tina but you need to be thinking a lot harder right now!
Think I will shut the computer down in few minutes and crawl back in bed to watch TV. That may be my only hope to warm my feet. House is not that cold but the floor seems to be and my feet are cold.
The sun is out and the white stuff looks a bit thinner. Don't know how it might melt any as it is only 14 degrees out there.
We are lucky that we only have to endure this a few days; don't see how some of you to the north make it thru weeks or even months of such fridge weather.

Good evening!
Way late on posting. What a winter! Thankfully, we're not having to shovel or scrape here---oh, wait a minute, it's to be in the 20's overnight! Will I have to scrape my windshield in the morning
Will be sending good thoughts to those of you in subzero areas--heaven forbid a power outage
Okay, big debate with myself & decided "yep, why rush?" So I'm at sis's, plugged into electric for the next couple nights. Will leave with Anita on Wed a.m. No need to risk any furnace or other problems in this kind of weather!!! And yes, BJ, RETIREMENT is the key
Y'all have a great evening & STAY WARM!
