Good morning all :D

Another beautiful morning & I'm packing to leave this noonish for meeting up with Anita tomorrow. So ready to be on the road!!! G'grief, now WA is getting washed off the map--hope everyone is safe up there!

Well, Mitch, you certainly caused a stir with your mowing episode :o Can't keep you down, eh? Martha, boys & their toys! Men in the neighborhood with much smaller yards than mine just have to have their riding mowers. One man uses his walk-behind to do all the edges, which takes about 20 mins, then hops on his toy tractor to do the rest--for all of 10 mins!!! Well, I may be exaggerating since I've never really timed him  Too funny!

On my second cup of coffee & why is my stomach churning? Still getting pre-trip jitters? Ah, but to be on the road... :P

Y'all have a great day & be safe always!

Good Morning!

Yep, meeting Carolb tomorrow - woohoo!!

I stopped at the FDR library and home yesterday and walked the grounds. Today the NY friend I stayed with a couple weeks ago is meeting me there and we will do the tour and then go to the Vanderbilt Mansion! The grounds are lovely.

I found a nice Passport America park about 45 minutes north of Hyde Park for $25 a night. Will stay here tonight for 2nd night. Only problem is water faucet is a site or two over - not what I had in mind for flushing tank!

In a deep sleep last night and dreaming about a persistent buzzing noise. Finally woke up and my Sonicare toothbrush had turned itself on - again! Scared the dickens out of me the first time it did it. I did buy a new one in the last couple of days but just hadn't taken it out of the box yet.

Tomorrow is 'Rabbits' day!

Good Morning, Another wonderful cloudy day here. I'll probably get tired of them as winter rolls in but for now I love not waking up to sun and heat! It is hard to believe September is almost over!
Carol and Anita, have a great time!

Vickie, I know Mitch won't listen to you ( or probably anyone, obviously not doctors...) but when I looked at the pictures, I remembered hearing that there are reasons to cut grass certain ways at different times of the year. So, of course I Google it because you will need proof to get her to believe you!

Mowing Heights Effect Lawns
It is always best to maintain these grasses at the top end of these height ranges. Leaving the grasses longer has many benefits. Longer grass shades the soil keeping it cooler which will reduce evaporation of water from the soil. This shade also reduces the opportunity for weed seeds to germinate. If grass is shortly mowed it will have much more weed pressure.

Here's what it looked like at dawn this morning when I looked out of my trailer door. The ground fog is over the pond in the back.

Image

I have a lot more to do in the house, although I have made huge inroads in the organizing, tossing, bagging, shuffling, cleaning of stuff. The discovery of my many, many photo albums the other day put a halt in my work, as I had to open about half of them and weep and laugh and reminisce. Luckily, it is harder to view all the video tapes and movies I have taken over the years, although I have them all and need to box and label them and protect them until such a time as I can get them digitized into MP3 or MP4, or whatever the latest technology is called.

Yes, tomorrow morning (any time after midnight tonight) is RABBITS day again already! I wonder how many of us will remember to shout that word before anything else is uttered. I need the good luck it is supposed to bring, so I am going to make an extra-ordinary try to remember!

Carol and Anita have a fun meeting, and don't forget some pictures! Anita, get that toothbrush under control!! :) I can only imagine how weird that must have been to wake up to in the middle of the night!

Happy Monday to all!

That article was interesting, BJ. I guess I need to raise the deck when I go from the bermuda grass to the weed/high fescue grass...

Soos, you live in the most amazing place!

And I AM following doctor's orders - NO RESTRICTIONS! He actually told me he did not want me just sitting around on my behind!
It's just that Vickie is a pest, that's all.

Took my first shower today (it's funny to now be able to see my belly instead of my boobies...quite a weird feeling). Vickie and I are heading to town today for supplies for her to make some fish tacos. I will not try to picture her as Pedro. I plan to drive the new truck, but if I feel uncomfortable in traffic, she'll have to take over.

I did some research on my oncologist - he's a DO and Board Certified in 3 areas - hematology, internal medicine, and oncology. He's 42 years old - I think a perfect age - not too green, and not too old. I sure hope his personality is better than the surgeon's!

Good Morning

It has been an incredibly busy week here and yet don't feel as if I've accomplished enough. Still fighting a tooth problem which is slowing me down a bit.

Younger niece meets with surgeon and oncologist tomorrow and Wednesday. She is holding up reasonably well so far and we've started moving her to an apartment in town (been planned for long time so they can get my sister's house on market and settle that estate) which makes it easier on all of us.

Renter moved out unexpectedly while I was gone to MI. Have hired older niece and one of her friends to clean, paint, etc in order to try to get it ready for rent again.

Have not made it back to campground yet. Need to get some more stuff out of Magic and check on her. Getting envious of those heading to FL already.

Better get at it; that "to do" list just doesn't seem to shrink much on its own.

Have a good day.

Can't believe how fast the summer and September has gone by. It seems like I just left Michigan and Ohio, but it has been almost four months.

I am comfortably ensconced here at this RV park at the county fairgrounds near downtown Napa, until at least next Monday. Then I WAS supposed to head off to Yosemite, but that may have to be called off. I don't know about the COE campgrounds I was eyeing up either. Since they don't have visitor centers, they might be open. Otherwise, I have no idea where else to go other than to stay here. This place is a little expensive for long term, although it is very convenient to everything. I do still need some medical tests run, so I need to stay for those, but I was hoping to get them done this week and then come back for an orthopedics appointment on the 17th, after Yosemite. Guess I will save on gas money.

It is drizzling right now. I did not cover my bike last night because the chance of rain was so small. Once it clears up, I'll have to get out and clean it up and then try out my new bike cover that is supposed to fit that bike rack. The bike gets so filthy riding back there now because the cover I have is open on the bottom and the dust comes up from underneath.

It's raining again and rain predicted for the rest of the week. :( My friend wanted me to ride to Lafayette this morning but my DH went off to get his truck checked and I thought I might have to go get him. Of course he didn't answer his phone. Probably not a good day to be on the road anyway. They can't take his truck until late Wednesday. I was thinking about bringing my motorhome in tomorrow to see about the brakes that they didn't fix when they had it for a week and a half. They were more interested in trying to sell me new tires. I keep putting off getting into this again because of all the coming and going involved with bringing a vehicle in. Carolyn and I are going to an RVW rally for the halloween weekend. The way time is flying it will be here before I know it.

Soos, your place looks like a park. Most of our trees are evergreens so we don't see much fall color except at Walmart.

Another gorgeous day here in MN! Cool, sunny, breezy, low 70's :D .

However, I got up at 0'dark thirty this morning to take my dad to a doctor appointment. He had another swallowing test which came out the same as the others he's had. Takes about 7 swallows for each bite of food (various thick liquids) and some of that ends up going down the wrong way. So no improvement there. He has been cheating and eating things he's not supposed to, so he has been very lucky about not getting pneumonia so far since he has been back home. I hope this test makes him more careful now. The doctor was very adamant about what he is and is not allowed to eat. He is still on the feeding tube but just allowed a couple of spoonfuls of very thick liquids per day by mouth.

He then had me driving all over for various errands for a couple hours! My ankle (right) was getting sore from driving, so was glad when I finally dropped him off at home. Got home and took a 2 hour nap!

The night before the 1st, I now put a sticky note saying "RABBITS!" on the front of my alarm clock which is the first think I look at when I wake up. That way I don't forget to say it! :D

Good idea about the sticky note Barbie. Since I will be up at 12:00 I'll see if that works. ;) I'll probably say something to one of the cats before I remember.
