Good morning all! :D I just did another of those magic tricks--hit the wrong key & "poofed" a post! So not going to try again. Nice to catch up with y'all, been absent a couple days, & off to bro's for a day of sailing. Y'all have a great day & safe travels always! 8-)

Good morning. I love sailing, Carol. Taking Tyler to the vet early for his surgery and teeth cleaning. They will remove approx 7 subcutaneous tumors and skin tags. Then I'll be in the dentist chair for reg cleaning. Then pick up Tyler and keep him from chewing the stitches. Everyone have a great day and stay safe.

Good morning Carolb and all. It is another beautiful, but chilly morning here in the UP. We did a Walmart run yesterday in Marquette, and I also stopped at Gander Mountain to get a new pair of hiking shoes and a rain jacket. No rain expected today though, as we are off to spend a few days in the Porcupine Mountains before beginning a southward trek.

Hope everyone's day is just what you hope it will be.

Good Morning Carolb, Chris and Liz,

Yep, been there done that with posts too. Hit the wrong button and "poof" off to cyberspace. Have fun sailing Carol. I love to sail and have had my share of small sailboats, my little Sunfish being my favorite.

Chris, must be the week for dental work. Hope all goes well for Tyler. Sassy sees her vet for a routine checkup this afternoon and I will be at my dentist tomorrow for filling replacements.

Liz, sounds like you gals spent a few dollars in Gander Mountain. Have fun in the Porkies. There's quite a few things to see up there. I'm hoping that when you get back down below the bridge, that some of you might be staying around a day our two in the north. I would love to see you again.

SoCalGalcas, yes, rip tides are common in the great lakes here, especially Michigan and Superior. Lake Michigan is the 5th largest lake in the world. It is 307 miles long and 118 miles wide with average depth of 279 feet but is as deep as 953 in some spots. So given the right wind conditions such as the other day, it can create quite a rip current situation. The shoreline along the southern part of the Upper Peninsula is prone to them especially, since the prevailing winds are from the South and Southwest in the summer month. There's a stretch about 20 miles west of the Mackinac Bridge where there are sand dunes and a really nice beach. But that spot is very dangerous in windy conditions and people have drowned there getting caught in the rip tides. And Lake Superor, like JudyJB said, can rile up much worse. The "Gales of November" as they are called can create monster waves and sink ships without warning. So the lakes are not to be taken lightly. But when it's nice weather, it's a boaters paradise. Hope Peggy had a good sail on the SS Badger car ferry to WI yesterday.

Am off to wash hair this morning and then to Farmer's Market and bank. Time to stock up on the fresh produce comng in. Won't be long and it will be all gone for the season till next year again.

You all have a wonderful day out there and those on the road, drive safe and enjoy your travels.

GOOD MORNING ALL!

I am back! The internet reception at Bridgewater corners camping field was iffy at best, and I had no patience for waiting and moving around to get online, so I am now way behind in what's been going on. I will try to get caught up this afternoon.

The bluegrass music was superb, and the all-night picking sessions around the various campfires were amazing! So many talented musicians in one beautiful spot----a field owned by a couple named Randy and Heather who work their butts off each year to get it ready for all of us campers and many day people. It boggles my mind after having just a few here this summer and realizing all the work it entails-----mowing, porta potties, stage and outbuildings on wheels towed by tractors to the site, generator for power for the microphones and amplifiers and speakers and for stage lights, organizing the schedule after contacting the groups to participate, food cooking all day long from breakfast to supper for those who want it, 50/50 drawings, (I WON one!! $169 bucks!! I have never held so much cash in my hands all at once ever before!) (I turned back 40 bucks to Heather and Randy to help with the debt I suspect they must be in getting that field back in shape after Irene destroyed it a couple of years ago.) It was so much fun to see so many people I had met last year back again. I took a free fiddle lesson provided by a guy who plays the best bluegrass fiddle music I have ever heard, and od I remember his name? Shamefully, no I don't. But Richard will remember and let me know so I can write and thank him. I never even took my camera out once----shame on me! But I have it all in my memory this time, I hope.

The little town of Bridgewater Corners has a place to buy whole-bodied fried clams, and I pigged out with some of my winnings! Issy also bought me some more! I also found they had a lobster dinner, including French fries and cole slaw and rolls, for $12.50, so I got my New England sea food fix for another year!

Yesterday I paid bills, did laundry, took a long hot bath, went to the bank, and grocery shopped to replenish the pantry. The dogs are happy to be free once again, and the weather today is so much nicer than the cold rains we had all day yesterday. Sun is up, temp in here is 63, and it's breezy outside.

A week from this Thursday I will be heading up to the Plattsburgh Bluegrass Festival for about 4 days of more music and fun. I think Issy will ride with me again, if she can stand my telling her to put in her hearing aids so she can hear me! I will also get my trailer inspected at the dealership where I bought it on the way up there.

Forgive my silence, but I will try to stay in touch better now that I have about a week to recoup!

Happy trails to all!

Good Morning, It's a beautiful cool morning here, no much needed rain in sight but thankful for the drop in temperature and humidity.

I have poof posts from time to time but if I hit the forward or back page thingie I always find it. I don't know why the pages flip like that but it is annoying for sure.

Upon the recommendation of a friend I bought a Nutri Bullet and love it, but I think the recipes they suggest have way too much fruit which would be more sugar than I want to do. Does anyone else make smoothies? I am looking for some recipes that have less fruit and more greens or veggies. I have a juicer but it is just so big and such a hassle to clean I find I don't use it much.

I would love to be exploring the Porcupine Mountains with the MI ramblers.

Morning everyone!
Waiting for the kids to get up - will have coffee with them then leave as they head out for work & school.
Sure have enjoyed my time with them - but I also enjoy watching them become independent. (tranlsation - I'm not paying for everythign anymore  )
Sadie & I have gotten our beach 'fix' for a while. Now we head thru the desert to the plains into green (I hope) Kansas City.
I've loved seeing this country - still in love with NW Washington - will definitely have to get up there again & spend more time once I'm done with the 9-5 thing called work. :(
Have decided I really need to make one of GTGs to meet more of you all. This is such a great group!
Hope you each have a great day - driving, resting & even, working.... :D

Just saw your post, Soos. Sounds like lots of fun! And yes, lots of work too. I know what you mean about not taking your camera out - I'm bad about that too - but soaking in the moment in your heart is really what counts.

Later, Catherine

Good Morning,

For those losing posts, another remedy is sometimes right clicking the mouse and then click 'undo'.

I am currently in northern Ohio regrouping after a few busy and sometimes stressful months - nothing serious. My next destination is NYC for a Fantasy RV tour Sept. 8-15. Yes, I could do it cheaper on my own, but I would never do it on my own. We will be staying in Jersey City at the marina and rv park overlooking Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. There are two Broadway shows on the itinerary - Cinderella, which I know nothing about, and Wicked, which I hear is fantastic.

I have enjoyed reading of all the travels and GTGs! Continued safe travels!!

BJ, I have a Nutri Bullet and after looking over "their" recommendations threw the booklet away and figured most any combination would work.....just experiment to taste! :) If I get too many green leafy things in there the taste goes down hill for me...but I know that after overly sweet smoothies the taste buds many need to be recalibrated. :?

I also went with it over the juicer because to the ease of clean up and figuring that the fiber was an important part of what ever I am putting in there and I didn't want to lose it....

Catherine, so glad that you are enjoying your trip and dreaming of the future adventures....

I'm feeling much better this morning. It turns out that the "flu" I had all last week was actually a set of side effects from a new medication. Saw the doctor yesterday for a new prescription, and I'm feeling the results already. So -- it's shaping up to be a good day. :D

Good Morning
Good to have you back, Soos.
Off to my 1st boondocking experience for next couple of nights in the Black River National Forest - far NW corner of UP, MI. Cannot say I'm looking forward to it but something I need to try and to learn about "just in case". At least I'm fortunate enough to be traveling with Liz and Carol - experts on the subject and great teachers. Right now, think I'm most concerned about the cold - 42 forecast for tonight - too close to freezing for my old body.
Sun is just beginning to peek out here so time to unhook. Liz is already on the road.
Have a great day.

Yep, it's still morning here in the hay field, under the hickory tree.....and finally, no rain, a little windy, but no rain.... ;)

Spent yesterday with my sister, Barb, and niece, Renee', at the Antique Mall, looking for treasures or things we just couldn't live without....  Saw alot of nice things, but since I live in a 5er, I just got a new smokeless candle....then we met up with Ernie & brother-in-law, Mac, for supper at a local eatery.....

Shopping really tired me out yesterday, so am taking it easy and resting up today....was up around 4:30am, but didn't feel like waking Ernie to turn on the genny....(the battery to start it is dead and I'm not strong enough to start it with the pull start.) So perked the coffee on the stove and read by flashlight... ;) This boondocking isn't too bad....you just have to adjust and be creative.... ;) So, we'll probably do more boondocking in the future.... ;)

The cows go by twice a day, in the pasture....Spinner thinks they are just "really big dogs" and wants to play....good thing he's on the leash....

Okay, back to "relaxing"...

Have a great day, all..

Anita, the only way I would do NYC would be on a tour too. My son drove me up from New Jersey on one of my visits. I think all we did was drive in circles.

Our vehicle saga continues. Yesterday my DH brought his truck to the shop even though they can't work on it for a week. My son still has my van and hopefully his truck will be ready on Friday. My DH said he could drive my motorhome if he wants to go somewhere and I said we are going to Enterprise. My drivers license had fallen out of my purse at home so he's the only one that can drive the rented car. We should have come home to get my license but then I wouldn't have gotten him back to town. I have a meeting to go to tonight. I could ride with my neighbor but I rode with her last month and she messed with her phone all the way going and coming back. I'm not a good passenger and it drives me crazy when people do that.

My DH wanted to order the Nutri Bullet but we have a Magic Bullet. It looks like the same thing, just not as big. I know he wouldn't use something like that.

My brother lives on the Northwest shore of Lake Superior in Canada. He took me on a day trip on the North shore and it was beautiful. It was in October and the weather felt cool and crisp. We are about ready for some cool weather. It's in the low 90's but the humidity is so high that all you have to do is stand outside and you have sweat running off. I would sure like to be touring with Liz, Carol and Sarah. I would even be willing to boondock.

I noticed that my laptop computer doesn't have spell check which I need in a bad way. Does anyone know how to turn that on?

Martha

Last night my friend Steve invited me up to the local bar for a drink and conversation. Good blues band playing there too. Anyway, I ordered a Baileys on the rocks. Before long, I started getting cramps, so I called it a night. Shortly after getting home, I got hit big time with vomiting and diarrhea. :o That lasted for almost 4 hours! I feel much better this morning but very tired. I think the Baileys was bad. I sure hope I don't have to go thru that again any time soon!

Off to work here soon. It should be fairly quiet today with school starting yesterday. It might pick up around 4pm for those who didn't get in for school haircuts yet.

Beautiful day today! 70 degrees right now with sun and light breeze.
