Sunday and no rain yet

Just a quick Good Morning as Nicky and I spent the night in Magic and we leave this morning on a new adventure. Waiting for fog to clear a bit but it is not raining yet (more forecast today but I hope to be gone before it starts).

Still have a fair number of things to do before we get on the road as I was too tired to put last load of stuff away last night. As usual, I've packed too much, tho I may be getting a little better at this.

Am very low on propane and I'm a bit uptight about having to fill it. Have never done that plus not sure about chances of finding a place on Sunday morning. Am a little concerned that I may not have enough to run fridge while driving today.

CArol and I will check in tonight if we have Internet.

Wishing all a safe day.

Good Morning Sarah and all... coffee is long gone here... had rice krispies for breakfast...
Wow Sarah I think how long you thought of getting a motor home now you have one... yea yea yea for you...
As long as the frig is cold before you start it should be ok... how far are you going today?
It was nice and cool this morning so I put the fan in the window and opened the door... feels so good to bring fresh air in...
Shadow slept on my bed last night until about 4 then he slipped down on the rug beside my bed... he slept on the rug by Hildi's bed each night or he slept in his kennel she calls it his man cave... it is bitter sweet having the little guy home again...
I will sign off for now and finish getting ready for church...
Have a safe day everyone
Kathleen and Shadow

Good Morning Sarah,

Sounds like you are about ready to hit the road. You fridge doesn't use that much propane and you should be okay. You could even just turn off the fridge for awhile and back on again later and be fine as they stay cold for quite awhile if one doesn't open them. I've gone in 80 degree weather for as long as 4 hours with no problem and probably could have gone longer, but that was cause I was home in that time span. I'm sure you can find a place to have it filled even if it is Sunday. Have a safe drive today.

For those of you who are heading to MI, the weather forecast calls for some scattered Thundershowers tomorrow and sunny the rest of the week. Highs around low to mid 70's and nights in the low 50's. Perfect weather. The mornings are a bit cool, but once the sun comes up, warms up fast after that.

Found out that my friend and her two friends who left about a week ago for their trip out west are coming home. Don't know what happened but they aborted the trip. She did tell me to go get my hitch checked by a good hitch man as they found out that the dealer we got our TT's from didn't set the WD bars right and they had issues. Said they were set way too low. So plan to take my coach to local dealer here and have them look the system over before I do anything about maybe getting another vehicle. I haven't liked the way the hitch system is set up either. I always thought it was too low. We shall see.

But today is going to be a puttery day. Wound up have some trees taken down in the yard yesterday and am waiting for him to return this morning to finish cleaning up the debris. He just happened to be in the neighborhood and stopped by. I did have about three trees that I knew were going to have to come down eventually, some damage left from last winters snow storm. So they are down and my pocketbook is going to be a little emptier  . After he's gone, I am going to do a little grocery shopping and also take a little looksee at the local car dealers lots. Finished my yard work yesterday and looks good out there. Plan to give the trailer a bath as well.

Looking forward to seeing some of the forum "sistahs" this week. You all drive safe getting here. Everybody else have a wonderful day.

Kathleen, you posted just ahead of me. Glad to hear that Shadow is back home with you. I'm sure Hildi feels bad, but maybe she can find another dog to keep her company. Sounds like Shadow is moving right back in. Was he glad to see you?

Good morning everyone. Sarah is off for a fun adventure - you'll find filling that tank will be easy after the first time. Have a great trip. Kathleen, so glad Shadow is back. Sue, hope you get your hitch looked at soon.

This morning was my first boo boo with RED. DH was complaining about the way I had her hooked up. So after he left to go shooting I moved her over to the other side of the drive way to access the 30 amp plug without the cord stretched across the driveway. When backing up I was concentrating on keeping the driver's side wheels on the driveway and oops....that sound that tells you, you just screwed up. One glance in the rear view camera told the story.

Luckily the cargo carrier hit the bricks, so No damage to RED. These bricks were just stacked to make an enclosure for the trash cans, not cemented. My wonderful daughter pulled herself out of bed and helped me rebuild the bricks so DH wouldn't notice. I hope this counts as my first and I pray there aren't any after this.

good morning ladies
Red...oops, and if you don't tell on yourself, he'll never know :D
Kathleen....so happy for you and Shadow, give him a day and he'll be back to his regular self, when I went on vacation for a month it
took Pixie a day to realize I was actually home. I didn't see her happy dance until the next day.
Today is my lazy day and I'm just going to enjoy it.
Ya'll have a great day and be safe.

Red - UGH - that has to be one of the most sickening sounds in the world.
Looks like it was an easy fix, though! Whew...

Sitting and watching almost everyone leave the campground in Yellowstone. I am leaving here tomorrow morning and was headed to Mammoth Hot Springs in the north end of the park, but I have been worried because it is a lot hotter there and was not sure I could handle it for 4 days without power and AC. I found a really nice full hookup campground in West Yellowstone the other day, so I am going to splurge and stay there two days to get laundry done and be able to work inside during the day in comfort. This will also enable me to recharge my bike battery without running my generator. And maybe I will be able to get my rear furnace fixed there.

Then, I will head for Mammoth Hot Springs very early in the morning on Wednesday to get a walk-in spot. Will be out riding my bike all day so the heat will be OK.

Friday, I head for Colter Bay in Grand Teton Ntl Park. Yea! And on Saturday, I am meeting Sheila/Snowball somewhere for the day. That will really be fun.

GOOD AFTERNOON TO ALL!

Sigh. How can it be that the Ruckus is already over?? This yard has never seemed so empty and lonely. All the rigs have pulled out except Richard's, and I am hoping he plans to stay for at least another couple of weeks. The last to leave this morning was Ginny who has a five hour drive back to NH. Jack left in his huge bus/rig for a halfway stop to Maine. Gayle left for another five hour drive to MA. Liz and Louise were gone as of yesterday, and Carolb was brave enough to drive up for a day.

For humans we had Sue, Eddie, Ginny, Jack, Carolb, Louise, Gayle, Liz, Richard, and my family, plus George who stopped by for the afternoon. Then there were Thistle, Jack, Marley, Tigger, Missy, Scarlet, Sherrie, Zack, Molly, Dinah, Marlin, and Ruger for the canines! I must say all the two-footers and the four-footers were amazingly well-behaved! I had a truly wonderful time meeting the newbies and re-connecting with the regulars. I just rue that the time seems so short, and that I can't ever seem to provide enough to do while all are here. For me, I am just so thrilled to be able to sit around campfires, sing a few oldies, and share stories. I hope all had as much fun as I did.

I am so behind on email and forum posts, but have to say I am so happy about Kathleen and Shadow, Lori and her medical diagnoses, and whatever else good that happened the past week. Sorry to hear that Sue's tow vehicle seems to lack enough oomph.

Time for some last minute clean-up and then a stint of blueberry picking.

Don't forget the peak of the Perseids meteor shower is tonight. I hope to download what meager pictures I took to photobucket in the near future, if this computer will continue working long enough for me to do it. It needs serious help which I will attempt to get this week.

Judy, I stayed there 4 years ago and really enjoyed it. The folks in the office are really helpful and will let you know where/who the best RV repair places are. I was caravanning with a friend whose slide motor went out. We had to extend our stay until a new one could be mailed to her and then had to find someone to put it in. Got a guy to actually come to the park and he got the job done.

There's a GREAT ice cream place in town -- can't remember the name of it, but it's on the main drag. We ended up going there every day -- not a good habit! ;) And there's a great pizza place there, also. It's on a side street, but I'm sure the folks at the RV park can tell you about it. Also, the Wolf & Grizzly Discovery Center is lots of fun. Spent a couple of afternoons there watching the bears playing around. Lots of fun!

Enjoy the park AND West Yellowstone!

Laura

Sounds like I better get busy and get my work done today because with ice cream, bears and wolfs, and all I will have no time left!

Sarah . . . We never turn on the propane when driving. As long as your refrigerator is good and cold when you head out, it should be no problem. Ask about refilling your propane when you check in at the next park. They should be able to tell you.

Soos . . . The memories are sweet. And, you can start planning next year's Ruckus. Thinking about and planning is part of the fun!

Sue, scary that there may be a problem with the hitch/WD installation. Let us know what you discover.

Red, everyone has the OH NO moment sooner or later. Thankful everything worked out with no permanent damage.

We've had a couple of OOPS the last two trips. The microwave went out even though it is only two years old. I guess all the bumping around didn't help. We've found the same brand online, just not the silver color that will match the stove and refrigerator. Will have to keep looking. This trip two things happened. The radio in the TT went out. When we opened the door on arrival there was this high piercing sound similar to an alarm. After searching for an hour with help from three guys, it was finally narrowed down to the back corner and the stereo system. We had to pull the fuses one-by-one until it finally stopped because the radio works even when the circuit breaker is off. Seems a capacitor went. Next day, the driver's side window mechanism broke and the glass sank down into the door. Not fun getting that up, but we wedged it up with the maps I have been collecting (I have been vindicated!).

Bad things seems to happen in three's, so I am hoping this is it. At least the window stayed up so the dew did not get inside the van last night and we were able to use the AC on the drive home. Summer driving in Florida without AC is miserable. Sad that the summer is almost over, but looking forward to some cooler camping weather.

I may be ignorant about these things, but can't the fridge run on the batteries while driving?

RIP Eydie Gorme. Eydie and Steve opened for Sinatra at Brendon Byrne Arena in NJ some years back. I was there to hear ole blue eyes but in hindsight it was Steve and Eydie who put on a great show.

My fridge runs on propane while I drive except while filling my gas tank. I shut it off for that. If not on propane, I need to be on shore power or running my generator.

I swear the salesman told me our refrigerator would automatically switch between electric, propane and the battery when driving. A year later, the customer service tech looked at me like I was an idiot when I repeated this. He opened up the refrigerator access vent and showed me that our refrigerator only works on electric or propane (no onboard generator). Of course, I had no idea what I was looking at when he pointed this out to me so I bought an RV handbook. It said the same thing -- electric or propane.
