Tuesday and the heat goes on...

Another major heat wave here in Massachusetts, in the 90s, feels like 100s, high humidity. Not conducive to outdoor adventures. My sister is really enjoying the mini outings we've been having. She can't go far because she can't leave my disabled bil very long, but it gets her out of the house a little while at least. We've done some short hikes, geocaching, and kayaking. Yesterday we did some shopping chores in air conditioned stores.
I'm looking for a repair kit for my inflatable kayak. It has a slow leak in one of it's main chambers. It can be used for about an hour but then it starts to get soft. There's a Bass Pro Shop about 10 miles from here that might have some thing. So far no luck. First I have to see if I can find where it is leaking. It's why I bought a new kayoo, but I still want to be able to have the inflatable usable.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning Liz and all to follow. Liz, hope you find that patch kit and get back out on the water. Yesterday was travel day. We are now in Tuscumbia, in northern AL close to the TN border. Will pick up rental car and do some site seeing and much needed re-stocking at WallyWorld before heading over to Red Bay for our service appt. this morning when I walked Tyler, it was cool and pleasant out. But I know it will be a hot one today. So only air conditioned attractions. Everyone have a good day and be safe. Aloha y'all

Morning all,
Gonna be another warm day here in MI. Fortunately for me, I am just past the edge of a Heat Wave Advisory. But we know that Mom Nature doesn't stop at county lines. Was in the low 90's here yesterday, but the evening cooled down and was comfortable for sleeping. I have a window Air conditioner in my bedroom, but have yet to use it. Maybe tonight, who knows. Supposed to stay hot till at least Friday when a strong cold front is coming through and back into the 70's again. I'm glad for that, as Hartwick Pines State Park is hosting "Wood Shaving Days". Their sawmill will be operating at the logging museum as well as demonstrations with wood carvers, blacksmiths and all that good old fashioned wood stuff. Stuff for sale as well.
Sassy and I kept on the cool side yesterday with a trip to Mackinac City to watch the boats from the Chicago to Mackinac Yacht race come in. Those sailboats are so pretty when they have their big spinnakers out with all the different colors. Was hot up there too, but a nice breeze coming in off the water made it very comfortable. This next weekend is the Port Huron to Mackinac race so will probably go watch them come up the Lake Huron side this time.
Maggie, I forgot to ask how your drive over the Mackinac Bridge was. You should have had a good crossing day when you came and went.
Sounds like a lot of people are experiencing hot and humid weather. It's either that or rain.
Judy, hope you have decent weather at Custer State Park. My friend Brenda will be leaving on her trip west around August 1st and I hope they have good weather as well. Will be heading to Glacier and then into Canada to Vancouver before returning to the states and back through Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Mt. Rushmore etc. later in the month. Will be pulling her new TT along.
Need to take this computer back up to shop this morning as the part for my camera's memory stick downloading is in, so they can install it. Then I should be able to download all the pictures from my U.P. trip I hope. Don't know if I will have it back for tomorrow's coffee or not, but will get back on here eventually.
Well, need to get moving around here and get ready to haul this thing to town among other things. Keep cool out there everyone, dry if you are in rain and safe if on the road.

Good morning Liz, Red & all
Nice to see you opening MC, Liz. Yep, our New England heat wave is making national news, so keep cool all in this area. Glad you're having some good time with your sis, despite her need to tend to her DH. Red, sounds like you're having it just as bad, heat-wise. Hey, I like the "blanket sling" for Tyler--smart idea...
Catherine, so glad you're home safely! Yes, my biggest challenge of rving was the same as yours. I still find I'm driving by too many flowers that I could be stopping to smell!
I'm so happy Sadie has turned out to be a perfect traveling companion--she learned well from her big sis, Sierra!
Well, it's after 8:00 & I need to get out for some errands before it really heats up. Looks like another day to do inside stuff--more purging!
Today, it's my plastic container collection!
Y'all have a great day & safe travels to those on the road

I think y'all are having hotter temperatures in the Northeast than we are along the Texas Gulf Coast. We have been getting rain, so we have the muggy - but not gills weather yet. Red, I would imagine you've gotten about 0.5" up at your house by now. They're saying up to 2" this week. We still have a ways to go for that.
Sue - I remember you telling me about the Wood Shaving Days. It would be interesting to see that old saw running. And I would have loved to have seen the sailboats coming into Mackinac. We used to have a sailboat when I was in college and young adulthood. Oh, and the bridge crossings were fine except I found I needed to be in the outside lanes. Driving on that grating was nerve-wracking because it felt like you really had to fight to maintain your lane.
I'm still in the process of uploading all my pics to Flickr so I can go through them a few at a time and delete the really bad ones. I will try to post more of my trip to MI as I make it through the pics.

Good morning, Sounds like the heat and humidity is pretty wide spread, we weren't left out here. Just had a note from my friend in Ireland who said they are having a week of perfect weather, warm enough for their summer clothes. Warm to her though probably means it is in the sixties. I was there one time when they had a 'warm' spell and I was comfortable in 2 layers instead of four.
Carolb I read an article that suggested tossing out older plastic as it was made with the bad stuff. I'm still not convinced whatever they are using now is safer but...you now can use that reason to fling with abandon.
Katherine I hope the shots give you some relief from the pain.
I need to think of some inside jobs to do today, I can always think of them when I don't have time.
I do plan to call Frontier to see why our internet is so slow.
Everyone have a great day and hopefully we will all get cooler weather soon.

good morning ladies
Parts of the valley had a really big monsoon storm yesterday evening, caused some extreme damage, however my
part of town didn't even get a drop of rain, not even a little wind.
Nothing else is new in my neck of the woods but glad to see most of you ladies are having fun doing seeing the sights
in spite of heat or rain. Someday it will be me.
Be safe on your journeys and enjoy.

Laundry day for me at my sister's today...but have been busy already....Spinner & I jumped into the shower for his bath...he has taken a couple swims in the Alleghany River in the last couple days, so had to get the river sand and dirt washed off....It's a 2 person job with Ernie corralling him and putting him into the shower to me...
Then Ernie gets the job of drying him off and getting wet in the process because of Spinner shaking water all over him....
So now I have extra towels to wash along with the rest.
Have a dr. appt. Thursday with a GP...this is to have a general dr. close by just in case....will keep ya' all posted...
Okay, better go and get the wash done....
Have a great day, all....

Sitting in a Kroger parking lot in Columbus, OH, at the moment. It is a 24 hour Kroger and you can stay here two nights. I spent last night here but will be going to Walmart down the road tonight and Wednesday a campground for a week in Indiana. My sister lives outside Columbus in Grove City. I wanted to show her Miss Kitty and R T (tow car named for my dad) but could not find a campground or state park close by. They called around and found Kroger of all places with security that patrols the parking lot.
The heat and humidity is here in Ohio as well . I do not like sleeping with air conditioning because I am stuffy the next morning but found that I had to last night.
My niece will be coming over to spend the night with me and I will drop her off Wednesday to head to Indiana.
The fantastic fan is doing the job now because it is not that hot yet.

Good Morning All, Yes, the big heat wave made the National News last evening. Sorry to hear you folks are suffering so much.
Casey fell getting into the car yesterday morning. I thought she had broken her hip. It was a struggle, but I finally lifted her into the car and drove straight to her vet. After x-rays and pain meds, she was released to me to take home with no serious damage. My instructions are to keep her quiet for two weeks and she is on three medications to relax the muscles and give pain relief. She is sleeping most of the day. Next reports will be on "pets" thread.
Thanks for all the neat pictures. lyn

Lyn, sorry to hear about Casey. My DH's border collie had an injury at the base of his tail and was having trouble controlling his back legs and balance. I think it was from trying to get on the 4-wheeler and falling. I don't remember what the vet gave him but we had to give him pills for a week. He was on "lite duty" for 6 weeks. Then he had lite exercise for several weeks. I told my DH to quit letting him get on the 4-wheeler because I have seen him slip many times trying to get on it. I looked out this morning and Hank was on the 4-wheeler.
No one listens to mother.
It is 80 this morning which is cool for us at this time of year. It's overcast and there are showers just off shore. We will probably get more rain. Yesterday it was so humid even though it wasn't that hot. I tried walking on the road but didn't get very far. It looks like the deer flies aren't as bad as they were.
I have been trying to clean out the freezer but not making much progress. About the only thing going down is the ice cream.

Kind of warm and humid down here in Valdosta Ga, too. Rained quite a bit last nite, but made for good sleeping music. Karen has been having trouble with a fuse blowing in her car that keeps it from going out of park. We're thinking it's a problem with the wiring on her coach. This just started when she went out a low driveway and messed up the plug on the back of her coach and had to have a new one. She;s back at Honda this morning to see if they can find anything wrong with her car that would make that fuse blow. If not, I suggested that we stop at a parts store and get a set of tow lights and use those instead of hooking into the coach. Worth a try and if it doesn't stop it we can return the lights as long as we buy at a national chain.
This park is really pretty with lots and lots of trees with spanish moss hanging from all of them. Of course, lots of trees means no satelite but they have cable here. For a price.
Hopefully we make it to Tybee Island tomorrow, we have reservations! If not...oh well, we'll be a day late and that's ok, too! As long as we make it up to Shawboro on time for the crab festival I'm good with any plans!
Liz, hope you find your leak. The Sea Eagle that I got comes with a patch kit and I think you can buy them from there. I would think that it would work on yours. Maybe not, I'm not sure.
Hope everyone has a great day today, have fun and travel safe!!

Good Morning
My computer time has been limited past several days as I have an unexpected - short notice anyway - house guest. She is in town for a funeral and needed a place to stay. Will be here until Sunday.
After a full week of flooding, TVA was able to drop river below flood stage at Ditto late Sunday afternoon. Talked to campground manager yesterday and they expect to be able to move Magic off the little "evacuation" hill in park back to a site in campground this morning. Excited but mixed emotions about going down there this afternoon to see if I can figure out what is/is not working now.
Have a safe day.

Sharon....Ernie says to be sure to go to the Crab Shack on Tybee Island & the Stingray to eat....then to "Doc's Bar" for "cocktails.....
....The Crab Shack is located at the 2nd right hand turn coming onto Tybee.....The Stingray is on the right side of main drag coming from the CG/RV Park, and Doc's Bar is on the "Good Junk Street" near the Pier and the beach....
Enjoy...Oh, also do Fort Pulaski, too....
