Margie is coming over and we are going through some more things today... that will keep my mind off things... did get most of the cleaning done in spirts and jirks... thought it would help pass the time... so after dinner I took a vicodin and went to bed watched tv... and later went to sleep...
Hope everyone has a good day travel safe if you are on the road...

Beautiful Tuesday

Postby Colliemom » Tue Jul 02, 2013 7:31 am

Good Morning all,

Not to brag here, but we are having the most perfect summer weather right now. Sunshine, blue skies and temps in the mid 70's, a bit cooler by Lake Superior though. Couldn't ask for it any better. Guess you all had better head for MI for awhile :) I'm sorry to say, but those of you on the east coast that are getting the rain are going to be in for some wet weather for awhile. That same front moved through MI and took FOREVER to get out of here. I think the lower southeast part of the state is still feeling some effects from it yet. It brought the mosquito's out in full force up here too, but now that the weather has gotten nice, they have disappeared. Only late in the evening, have I seen any. BJ, that's for the tip on that mosquito jacket. Will look into it.

Well, I haven't gotten lost in the U.P. wilds. Just been under the weather a bit for a day or so, but am bright eyed and bushy tailed now. Sassy and I have been keeping busy. I've been enjoying just sitting here by the lake and started working on a Welcome sign for the house back home. Need one for summer. We've been over to Van Riper State Park and walked the campground roads, looking at the rigs and seeing what the campers were doing. Mostly sitting around relaxing. We've also been to Marquette and enjoyed being at one of the lakeside parks in the city. They have such a gem of an area here. Beautiful lakeshore area and also miles and miles of hardtopped bike paths. It's a fantastic place to be. Cosmopolitian but just outside of the city is all the virgin wilderness and recreation areas you could want. It is home to Northern Michigan University.

So today we are heading northwest into the Keewenaw Peninsula, the little finger jutting out from the end of the U.P. to check out a state park called Twin Lakes. Am packing a picnic lunch along. Will be a nice day for it.

Ava, glad to hear you are getting some cool air in your apt. That heat is awful. Donna, keeping chugging along there. You are doing fine and then end will be in sight before you know it. Judy, you sound like you are in heaven out in CO. Will have to check out that park when I get out that way. CArol, any chance you are heading to MI this year, hint, hint. Hope Maggie is enjoying her vacation. Liz, enjoy the time with you sister.

Well, time to be off here. Connection up here is very slow sometimes and I don't bother to post later in the day. Usually early morning or late evening. Have a nice day everyone, will be in touch.

Good morning Kathleen & everyone!

Kathleen, I sure hope your doctor can find something to keep you pain free.

Carolb left about 45 minutes ago but we had such a good time together while she was visiting. She seemed to enjoy the crabcakes more than the steamed crabs and she is quite a pro at opening the crabs, which she did while we picked the meat for the crabcakes.

The weather here has been on the damp side with showers almost everyday for the last few days. Fortunately we haven't had the flooding rains that other areas of the country have been having.

In a couple days, we'll be leaving to meet more friends at a state park for the July 4 weekend. Last year, we had above 100 degree temperatures for that weekend and the weather this year will be perfect.

Good Morning !! Not raining here yet ! Looks like it could any minute. I got most of the yard work done I hoped to yesterday. The neighbor boy came over and ran his weedeater over a couple of areas for me, after he saw I had mowed. Which was super, so other then a bit of raking, which I will do shortly it hopefully will look good for a few days around here :) I do things in spirts around here, as my back will only tolerate a certain amount of work at one time ;) :D

Donna, I read your blog, what an inspiration you are for me, Thanks. I enjoy your blog, you have a way of making everything sound interesting. Hope everything in your downsizing goes smoothly for you. Keep us posted, its a good kick in the butt for me

I won't set here too long, just wanted to wish you all a good day !!!! It started several hrs ago here, so have quite a few things on the to do list done, a good feeling :D

Those traveling for the holidays, please take care, but have a great time,
CArol :)

good morning ladies
woke up rested at 87 degrees. Wishing it could stay that way but its suppose to get to 108 by 4 o'clock.
Seems the new swamp cooler is hooked up on the roof, its blowing low but don't think they hooked it up
to the main thermostat as it still has a sign on it not to use. Will find out later when son wakes up, they
worked all night on the roof trying to get that done. I certainly hope the brutal high temps are over but
I'm not going to hold my breath on it.
Don't know what today holds for me, one little trip to the store for sure but for now its time to jump in
the shower.
Ya'll enjoy your day and be safe. I hope you have good weather where you are.

It's a beautiful Tuesday morning here is Colorado Springs, also. Had a brief thunderstorm yesterday and may have another this evening, but otherwise it is mostly sunny and comfortable, with highs in upper 70s.

One really nice things about here and in Lakeview in the Gunnison National Forest last week is the lack of bugs. I have not seen flies or mosquitos. I have been in the habit of not going out in the evening over the last months because I get bit and then the bites get infected and last for months, but here there just isn't much of anything out there that is biting.

Today is laundry day, plus I have been avoiding narrating the new PowerPoint presentation I put together. Don't mind speaking in front of a class or even large groups, but I HATE speaking to myself into a microphone.

Tomorrow morning I pack up and do some shopping on my way to Denver. Spending three days there and then on to Nebraska. Hope the heat stays reasonable. Will have electric for next five weeks in any case, so AC may be running.

So hard to believe it was just a week ago that we had a frost here! It has rained every single day but one since then, and the temperature has averaged about 75 to 80, as it is today also. I am so thankful to not have those triple digit temperatures that Arizona is experiencing! But this rain is becoming a real problem with our many waterways, bridges, dams, roads, and all.....flooding has been rampaging around us all over. So far, our dam at the pond has held, and I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will hold up through the next week's weather forecasts for yet more and more rain.

My son and daughter-in-law from Florida have been here since Saturday, and the whole fam damily has been having a laughing good time! I so wish I could live with both kids at the same time, but feel very lucky to be able to spend half the year with one, and the other half with the other. Orion loves the new wading pool I got for him----one of those rigid plastic wading pools that I can dump each day and refill with clean, icy cold spring water from our well. He had a friend come and play with him the other day and they both had a ball with the wagon, pool, balls, and just walking and running around. I realize just how lucky we are to be able to have a place where kids can be kids like we used to be, and be outside and relatively free to invent games and make-believe all sorts of things. Off I go to mow the front lawn now before the skies open up once again. I hope you all can try to stay cool, dry, and get outside when possible. I also hope to see a lot of you in early August when the Ruckus will be going on!

Colorado sounds like the place to be right now, or even the Upper Peninsula with Sue....and she is right.....that wet weather is soaking and flooding us here in the Adirondacks!

Happy Tuesday to all!

Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

We had all that rain and storms for weeks and weeks here too but now it has moved on to those of you further east. We now also have the beautiful 80 and sunny, breezy weather here.

Took my dad to another doctor appointment today. I guess his new feeding tube is a lot harder to use, so he is very discouraged. I think he is starting to realize he probably won't be able to go home that way. He has also been caught stealing cookies from the lunch room and eating them. That is a big no-no. Also doesn't prove to anyone that he can discipline himself if he goes home.
His 87th birthday is on Sunday. We are going to have a little party for him on Saturday. Will have to skip buying him a cake and ice cream tho. My brother is going to bring his sister to the party and surprise my dad. He hasn't seen her for quite awhile.

Hope you all have a good day, rain or shine!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
