Good Morning from Michigan's Upper Peninsula,

Arrived up here yesterday afternoon after a fairly uneventful drive. Did have some fog along the Lake Superior shoreline that got a little thick in one area and a few little rain showers thrown in, but otherwise smooth sailing all the way. So Sassy and I are now settled in to our "home away from home" and have 10 days to enjoy it. The only downside is that the mosquito's are horrible, but then they aren't much better down where I am either. We are still stuck in that damp, humid type weather pattern that has been hanging around since end of last week. Taking it's sweet time heading east, so once it does, those of you out that way will be in for some damp weather for awhile I'm afraid.

Not sure what's on the agenda for today. Michigamme, the little town near here is having a pancake and sausage breakfast this morning, so I may go to that. Need to do some shopping as well, so will be tracking back to Ishpeming in the other direction for that. At the moment, I am the only one here, but others are expected later one I guess. Sounds like a full house for the week ahead.

Sounds like Carol, Irmi and Steve had a great time at Ferryboat and those who are still there, are continuing the party. Have to look at the pictures later on here. So what's the next adventure out there in RV land.

Now that I am over 270 miles from home, the dealer that I have been over looking at RV's at, has a used or looks like a used 2011 Sportsman trailer in. Just arrived. Has the exact floorplan I want. Need to query salesman about it, so will be shipping an email out later today. I won't be able to get back over there before the 9th or 10th, so maybe it will still be there. I know he has new ones coming in too so not worried if somebody else grabs it.

Red, you drive looks like an RV and car sales lot But soon you will be on the road. Ava, glad to hear you don't have to rush home. Those temps are a bit too hot for anybody. Hope it doesn't last long.

Time to run along here. Gonna get dressed and put some Cutter on and take Sassy for a little stroll around outside. Have a great day all.

Good morning from the parking lot of Chousatta Casino in Kinder, LA. Not at the RV park. They were over booked. Spent $ playing slots and black jack hoping there would be a can ellation or no show. I came out ahead which compensated for DH coming out with less. Had to keep genie on any way for Ac for Tyler, so we just climbed in bed and did our first night dry camping. I slept pretty well. I'm just a worry wart about over using the generator and ac. This morning is pleasant with a breeze, but the mercury will rise fast. We will head over to New Orleans today and will stay 3 or 4 days. Or as DH said, " until we're bored!" Everyone have a great day and stay safe. Aloha y'all

If I could find one for chiggers I'd order it!! DH and I both have bites all over us and I haven't been outside in the grass at all. I think the dogs are bringing them in for us. At least I think they are chiggers, some look and feel like chigger bites, others seem different and are on my back and arms, not typical places I get chiggers. What ever they are I want them gone!! I have been mixing baking soda and fresh lemon juice to try and stop the itch and it seems to help more than anything else I've tried. Any suggestions would be welcome!
It is lovely and cool here this morning and supposed to be that way for several days!!! I feel so bad for the people in the extreme heat and so glad to hear Ava is extending her vacation. Red, sorry the park was full but glad you had a good nights sleep.

I'm glad to hear you made it to the UP safe. They had a bad accident in Hurley, WI the other night on Hwy 2. I've traveled Hwy 2 many times to the UP. Both of my folks were from the Houghton/Hancock area. If I recall, there were 12 kids in moms family and 18 in dads, so I have loads of cousins all over the state. They have family reunions every two years, so I have been out there for a few of them. When we were searching online for a pooch, We found Butch and he was half way across MI. We went across WI and into MI the day after New Years during a big storm when they warned no travel to get him (14 hour trip), so he's a pretty special boy to us. I refer to him as my Finnlander dog.

I will be spending the day with my Daughter, grandson, and Butch on the beautiful shores of Lake Superior today. (Not camping). We will be having lunch on Barkers Island. I love Lake Superior. We have nothing special planned other than spending a great day together.

I hope you all have a great weekend and that the weather gets better for all of us!

The park here at Ferry boat is full of weekenders and seasoners. Gives the place a totally different feel and a lot more golf carts to avoid while walking the dogs around the camp roads. Sunshine expected this morning so it will give us all a chance to dry out anything that needs drying.

We have been invited to a pig roast this evening in exchange for giving up our reserved shelter to a large group who want to celebrate a birthday. Then again Brenda thought a dinner out in the community might be nice!

Will be packing everything up by this evening to be ready for the move to DC and Cherry Hill, tomorrow. Daughter, Kate, gave me several suggestions of places we could visit in and around DC. I question her definition of nearby. Several places were 3.5 hours drive from DC! Mt Vernon will be Monday after I pick her up but Tues and Wed are open as of now. Unless I get an inspiration closer than 3.5 hours, we will be exploring Historic Georgetown and Alexandria and other closer places.

good morning ladies
well I took a trip over to Walmart yesterday, it must the the place EVERYONE shops at from miles around cause
the parking lot was packed, and it was big. Looked like christmas season. Bought some snacks and frozen entree's
to keep me happy over these next two days. Afterall, I do have a fridge and microwave in my room, might as well
use it and save some dollars on restaurant meals. Veged out in front of SciFi yesterday, lots of movies about
freak storms and such, and I also took a very long nap, felt like I slept really hard. It felt good.
Going over to the adjoining restaurant for free breakfast buffet and then later on I found a local citypark just down
the street and thought I'd take Maggie over to walk on the grass. She loves grass.

I got back from my camping trip yesterday just before noon, to get ready for work at 1pm. Good thing I left when I did, since a bad storm hit just shortly after I got home.

Had a nice few days at the campground! The weather was really nice. Started out hot and humid but dried out and cooled off on Thursday. My new tent is Ok but very small (which I knew it would be too small for me but was cheap and available). Will have to upgrade later. The instant screen room was awesome! Really quick and easy to put up and light enough to move around to where ever I wanted it before staking it down. My next tent will be an Instant tent too!

I am sunburned and mosquito bitten and tired. No ticks or chiggers tho! Slept pretty good the first night but not so much the second night. My mind kept racing all night. Got a good night's sleep last night so I should feel better today.

The park got a lot of damage from the storms last weekend. Lots of big trees came down all over the park and campground. Luckily, no one was hurt. My campsite was very muddy. I pitched my tent on the grass but the mud just oozed up thru the grass underneath. Luckily, I had a tarp under the tent.

Spent Thursday afternoon at the beach. It was extremely windy coming off the large lake but it felt good. Probably why I didn't realize I was getting sunburned. Also got a couple of books read while relaxing in my screen room.

I can see why having a trailer or RV would be much easier than a tent! That is a lot of work not only setting up the tent, but packing, loading, unloading, unpacking, etc, and then doing it all over again when leaving! So much more to do than if everything is already in the trailer. I did learn a few things that will make my next trip hopefully, a little easier. I will post some pics tonight.

Hi everyone!

It's still afternoon somewhere, so I thought I'd post real quick.

We took CarolB for a drive in the area this morning, came home and had lunch and in about 30 minutes, we'll be leaving to pick up a half bushel of steamed crabs. I can't wait to teach Carol how to open and pick crabs. It's been so much fun having her here and will be sorry to see her leave in a few days, but there will be other GTG's.

Barbie, I totally understand the frustration of the tent situation. Hopefully someday down the road, you'll find a light weight hard-sided trailer (Roo) or maybe a pop-up that would get you off the ground for camping. They make a world of difference.

Wherever the rest of you are, continue enjoying the GTG's, camping, traveling or getting ready to hit the road. There is so much out there calling us.

It's almost still morning here in the middle of the Rocky Mountains. I slept in until 11:00 am this morning. Felt wonderful. I was up late because my cell/internet service is very slow, and I had to leave my computer on all night to get all the Norton security updates loaded. I lost these updates a couple of months ago when my hard drive died, so doing this was well overdue. I was up every couple of hours checking it, but it finally finished at 5:00 am.

Intermittent rain and sun today. I need to narrate the PowerPoint I have been working on, so as soon as my favorite TV programs are over, I will tackle that. Defrosted my refrigerator and freezer yesterday and put all the stuff that needs to be eaten soon near the front so I don't forget it.

Will be packing up tomorrow to head back to Colorado Springs for three nights. Then on to Denver for another three nights, and on to Fort Robinson, Nebraska for a few days, on my way to South Dakota where I will be staying most of July. Nice to be taking life a little more slowly than I was on my visit to Michigan and Ohio.

Hanging out in Quesnel, B.C. On a lake until Monday. Canoed some this am. tGM is food shopping while I hang out and watch Wimbledon. Would actually rather be hiking or biking. Judy, I could sure use your bike until my foot heals weather has turned warm and it looks like the roads from here to AK r good enough. From the threads I've been able to read, seems like most r doing well and the PA gtg is going strong. Hope the good times continue. tGM is blogging when able and continuing on his weight loss program. Oops, here he is and now to put away the groceries. I have to do something ya know carold

I finally got up early enough to make it to the market at the horse farm in Lafayette. This morning was a good day to go. It was overcast and I was afraid it was going to rain but it didn't while I was there. I don't know that I need to go again. It's suppose to be a farmers and artisans market. I only saw one booth selling vegetables and they were very proud of them. There were 2 booths selling grass fed lamb and beef. I didn't ask but I bet the price was high. The rest of the booths were food, jewelry or scents. They have some expensive help, the mayor or parish president(or whatever his title is) was parking vehicles. The horse farm is some land the university had and was going to sell for development. Some people formed a foundation to buy it to make a park. I hope it succeeds. It's about 50 acres right in town. Had lunch with my son and we went to Sam's. By the time we got out of there the sun was out and it was hot so I came home.

Let us know how Carolb likes picking crabs. It's a lot of work but love to eat them. It's fun to catch them too.
