PA gtg is going strong already! I'll be leaving this afternoon, get a couple hours driving in, to arrive there in the a.m. Looks like they're having the same weather pattern as here...Gave HarBor a bath yesterday, packing him this morning.

Beautiful morning here along the river....slept like a log....which is probably the best sleep I've had in about a month....I'm guessing it has to be something about being back on the road again....and that we're here with a bunch of great friends....Lets see, Paulette is due in today, with Carolb, Becky and Gayle due in later in the week...It's so great to see everyone....Hope I can find the camera box today so I can post my photos....I know it's here somewhere...

Good morning everyone. I was up early to Skype with my daughter in Korea. 14 hour time difference. 5 am here is 7 pm there. It was so nice to see her face. She is doing well Taking stuff out to RED while it is still cool. It's not really cool, but tolerable. It's close to 80 right now and very humid. But the sky is clear blue with the full moon still bright. Our friend and his wife are heading this way this AM. He is an electrician and will be hooking up the 30 amp plug for RED and/or visitors So, I'll be entertaining his wife. Gotta go pick up the house I am really looking forward to pictures from the PA gtg. Everyone have a great day and stay safe. Aloha y'all

Ooh, Pennsylvania GTG! Folks are on the move! I'm waiting for stories.

We had a big thunderstorm here early this morning. It woke William up, so it woke me up too. He doesn't tolerate thunder as well now that he's getting old, poor guy. It's still very wet, so I'm thinking this might be a good day to build some shelves in the storage shed.

Good cloudy Morning to everyone... oh Red glad you got to skype with your daughter... that is such a great way to visit and at least now it doesn't cost anything... glad for the travelers arriving at the PA gtg enjoy and drive safe... no funny stuff no jail time.... but that wouldn't be any fun! enjoy all...

good morning ladies
not so good for me, things have gotten worse here and friends daughter is calling for an emergency assessment to put
friend in a nursing home. She just CAN NOT take care of herself even though she thinks she can. She needs 24/7 care.
She can't go through 4 hours of feeling good and then 2 and a half days of being too sick to move. Just doesn't cut it.
She won't eat or drink and then gets confused about her pills. Hope help comes soon.

I have fresh blueberries and grapes with cereal if anyone needs a mid-morning snack. I love fresh fruits and DH would rather eat his fruit dried hummm or is that dryed It is another hot and sunny day here but that sweet weatherman promised a cool down by Friday.

Too bad we can't all beam ourselves to the PA GTG, I wonder how many can be on a Skype chat at once... Carolb and all other in route have a safe trip.

I am sitting at my desk wondering how I have made such a mess and even more puzzling why I don't do some organizing. I guess maybe it means I'm lazy or don't care. Thankfully the mess only extends to my desk but I think it has DH worried that I will expand!

I’m up this morning after a very good night’s sleep. I don’t know why driving makes me so tired, but it does, and I drove only 190 miles yesterday, but it was over the Rocky Mountains from Colorado Springs to Gunnison National Forest Lakeview Campground near Almont, Colorado. I am staying in Lakeview Campground overlooking Taylor Reservoir. My cousin work camps here, and I told him this place certainly discourages visitors!!
After driving over Monarch Pass, you take U.S. 50 to Gunnison, then turn north on 135 to Almont. Almont is an almost-town with just a few buildings. Normally, you would then turn east on CO 742 for 25 more miles, but since there is construction, you have to take a 5 mile detour down a good dirt road through cow pastures to regain the real road and drive down a curvy, but good road, to the reservoir. Then up to the campground. And WOW, what a view!!




The mountains in the distance still have snow on them, although it is mostly gone. My cousin told me that will be construct a chain link fence with barbed wire around this place starting this week because in the fall and winter, the ranchers let their cows free up here and they have had problems with cows wandering through and a bull chasing children!!
Very slow internet connection, but I managed to load two photos to Photobucket so I could post them.
Anyway, going to get my bike out and go visit my cousin and the reservoir in the distance. No smoke or detours from fire driving in, by the way.

It's afternoon on the east coast, but since it'still morning for some of the others, I figure it's still ok to post here. We are at the PA GTG and this is the first time since the middle of April that I'm not on parent patrol. I have been given a couple days off but will be returning to MD day after tomorrow to help hold down the fort. This break has been the best thing that has happened to me in a long time and was much needed. Lori & Ernie have everything under control and it's so nice seeing everyone here again. Paulette is due in this afternoon and others following for the next couple days.

I don't know how I will ever catch up here, but I will try. Hello to all the new members and belated birthdays to those I've missed. I've missed not being here or on the other boards I used to go to. Best wishes to all of you.

We are getting rain almost everyday and sometimes at night. The grass is in overdrive. Coming home Sunday we went through about 10 miles of heavy rain on I-49 that messed up my wash and wax job that I got in Texas. The traffic threw up road dirt half way up my motorhome. I didn't use to worry about that until I got it washed. I have to go get my inspection sticker so will try to wash it while it's out.

Since I got back Sunday I have been unloading, washing and reloading for the trip to Florida. I thought we were leaving next Sunday but just realized that I'm not leaving until July 7th. I can see not knowing what day it is but I don't even know what week it is.

Sounds like everyone at the PA gtg is having a good time. Can't wait until the next one I'm able to attend. I know it's a good break for you Irmi.

Judy, that's some beautiful country. The year we went to the Grand Canyon we went up to Grand Junction and drove down to Durango thru Silverton. It was a beautiful drive but the most white knuckle drive I have ever been on. Being from flat Louisiana I didn't know how to drive in the mountains and back then I didn't have the ladies on here to tell me how.

Oh, Lordy. There's a way to drive in the mountains? OK. I'll add that to the list. Learn to drive in mountains. Just how does one drive in mountains? Olive really wants to know.

I had always heard to not ride the brakes but never heard to gear down to keep from picking up speed. I had never driven in low before. The motorhome I had didn't have a large enough engine for the weight and I would be going about 15 MPH going up some of the mountains. The interstates have shoulders and climbing lanes so if you have trouble you have somewhere to pull over. A lot of the 2 lane roads had no or very little shoulder. Now you see most Class C motorhomes are built on Ford E-450's except the very small ones. Now there are Mountain Directories for the East and West. The next time I decide to go through the Rocky Mountains I will have a Mountain Directory.

I burned my brakes several times coming down mountains on my way back from California. Not a fun feeling (or smell!) when your brakes start to fail! I did use low gear but it sounded hard on the transmission which worried me, too. Going up the mountains was very slowwww! But then I had an overloaded 4 cylinder Escort running the AC in 90+ temps! Lets not even mention the gas mileage!!
