Sunshine Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

A Good Sunny Morning to you all,

Wonder how long the "Sunshine" thread can keep going? Hopefully the rain has moved out for those of you who have really been getting it. Not to brag, but our weather here is perfect right now. Days just warm enough for shirt sleeves and maybe shorts if you want, nights cool enough for sleeping. Highs in the 70's, low's in the 40's, which is a bit on the cool side. Okay time to quit bragging

Guess it's going to be a day to sand and maybe varnish the picnic table. Need to head to town to pick up varnish and also a few things from the store as well. Sassy and I made it through our first night without Ms Tessa last night and we are doing okay this morning. The empty feeling will of course be here for awhile. I'm watching to see how Sassy takes this so far she seems to be okay, although she didn't eat last night but that's nothing unusual there. Also, I am changing her food over and she doesn't really care for this one. So....

Maggie, one more week and you will be flying north. I hope this weather pattern we have continues while you are here. Course the nights could warm up a tad bit more.

Had one bright spot in my day yesterday and that was I won a neat little soft sided rolling picnic cooler with insulated inside and pockets for other stuff on the outside, at a customer appreciation day at Edward Jones here. That's really neat. Will be taking it along on my upcoming trip to the U.P.

well, since there really isn't any thing to report from this house right now I am going to get moving here and start my day. Have a wonderful day all and those who are heading for the PA GTG, travel safe, those at the Good Sam rally, have fun.

GOOD MORNING SUE AND ALL-----

Happy for you that the day is sunny, Sue-----sunshine helps to soothe the tormented soul. It is actually getting sunny here this morning, too, although the forecast is a 50% chance of thunderstorms later today---ACK!

I guess I will try to get a different lawn mower out of the storage barn today and see if I can get it to start and actually work. The one I have been using is a borrowed one, I discovered from my daughter's info, and is a tiny swath-non wheel driven one....agony to mow with, but a shade better than nothing. This place really needs a mower, but I just discovered how much of my hospital visit last winter will not be covered by my insurance. I have no clue how I will pay it. Perhaps a bit for the rest of my life. No more hospitals for me.

The other thing on the docket for today is more laundry, including the dog beds, and shaking out the rugs in this trailer and washing the floor in here. The cabin at the pond also needs cleaning out. I need to haul the Yamaha generator down there and the shop vac to tackle that job. Also a ton of paper towels and spray cleaners. I can't remember what runs the water pump down there, but I guess it's a battery operated situation.

I sent the banner to Lori for the PA GTG yesterday, via snail mail from our local post office, so hope it gets to her in time. It should, according to the post office.

Have a happy Friday, everybody, wherever you may be.

Happy travels!

Beautiful sunny morning here at Mounds State Park in Indiana. I am headed west and happy to be on the road to somewhere new for a change.

Had a rough night because I noticed just before I went to sleep that my urine was red--not a good sign. It was also red during the night when I got up to go. I am a lifelong kidney stone former, and I know for sure that I have had one sitting in one kidney (can't remember which) for several years which my doctors have chosen not to treat, as it has not caused trouble or moved. Actually, it is really too large to move, but I guess I should clarify it is not blocking anything, so was never treated. Kidney stones cause bleeding and pain when they do move through the tiny ureter tubes from the kidney to the bladder. Once they make it to the bladder, they are mostly free and clear and usually make it out with no problems. So this situation is one that I have dealt with every few years for decades.

The weird thing is that I have not had any pain, which I should have had. I spent most of the night trying to tell myself it was something I ate, but no beets lately!! This morning my urine was brown, which means whatever was bleeding has now stopped. I had a ton of blood work done 5 weeks ago and everything, including kidney function, was fine so that is reassuring.

So now, I drink a ton of water and wait to see what else happens--maybe nothing, maybe pain and more bleeding if there is a tiny stone trying to pass. I have lots of prescription pain meds, so I won't go to an emergency room unless I have days of pain and bleeding. (They only give you an IV and pain meds there unless they determine they need to zap a stuck stone, so I have learned not to go and sit around for hours there doing what I can do at home.)

No driving today, so I am going to get some work done, drink water, and go for a bike ride to see the Native American mounds here and the visitor center. Keep your fingers crossed for me!! :?

Soos, call the hospital billing department and tell them you cannot afford the copay or whatever. Sometimes they will reduce the amount based on your income or retired status. Hospital billing is a strange thing because they charge different people different amounts based on their insurance and income.

That is a good idea for Soos. I had a $1500 bill from some doctor appointments last year and I was able to apply for a financial assistance program thru the medical center and they accepted it and I only owe $200 now. It is worth a try!

Good morning
That is a good suggestion, Soos. Many hospitals make large adjustments.
Judy - hope problem goes away soon.
After 3 days of heat advisories, we have a very pleasant weather day. High about 90 (that is down) and much lower humidity make even 90 feel okay.
Nothing exciting here - I did finally beat the tomato bandit to a nice ripe tomato. Current score: Bandit = 4, me =2 so he is still winning the battle.
Have a great day.

JudyJB....I truly relate with your post as I also suffer from kidney stones. My problem is they block the tract & I've gone through the 'blasting' and this past Jan. had to have surgery before my kidneys were jeopardized. Don't want to ever go through that again & believe the doctor was incompetent... (my doctor was on vacation & it was considered an 'emergency' so I had little choice).
Anyhow, when my doctor returned I asked him what I could do to help control/avoid/etc. these occurrences.... He said drinking freshly made lemonade (not the kind you buy in a carton pre-made) and fresh orange juice is very helpful. He said that the acidity in those drinks helps to break down and/or control the build up of stones... I now drink at least 8 ozs. of one or the other every day. Don't know if it's helping but it can't hurt me .... Just thought I'd share this. BTW, you're very lucky that you have no pain. The pain I've experienced in the past was so nasty (& I'm not a wimp) that I was beyond sanity.... Wishing you the best to be watchful & pain-free... you can also check the web about the lemon & orange juice help..........

This morning I went out to bring some trash and 3 of the cats went out with me. I thought it was really hot. I was out for a little while and when I came back in 2 of the cats said they had enough of being out. Our outside thermometer said it was 101 and it still says 101.

Sarah, you need to get a live trap and relocate some of your tomato bandits. I was setting a trap near the barn trying to catch a wild tom cat that was fighting with the other cats. I relocated 2 racoons and 2 possums.

Yesterday I cooked a chuck roast in the slow cooker with the dry salad and gravy mix. I put it in the refrigerator over night to remove the fat. We had it for lunch and it is really good.

I need to go get some cat food for the barn cats. I'm really not interested in going to town in this heat.

Another beautiful day here, sunny, breezy and 77 degrees. However, I have this blasted cold dragging me down. My nose was running faster than I could grab another Kleenex! Went up to get some good drugs to take and some better (non sandpaperlike) Kleenex  for my poor raw nose. Took a nap after taking the new drugs but now back to sneezing again. So much for enjoying my day off! I guess it is better than having to suffer thru work like this. Hopefully I will be better tomorrow. Have been loading up on the Zicam so maybe that will help soon.

Getting caught up on reading some, and laying here watching all the boats go by on the lake. There have been very few good boating days yet, so there are lots of boats out now taking advantage of this nice weather. I think it is supposed to be a nice weekend here too. Finally summer has arrived! (but so have the mosquitoes! :o ) I feel for those of you suffering from the high heat and humidity. No fun! We usually get that here in August so am not looking forward to that.

Got some of my camping things I ordered: air bed and pad (for on top), ceiling light/fan, and a porta-potty. Need a new camp stove since I left my last one in California. Should be set after that other than the little things. Maybe Sunday I will feel good enough to put up my tent in my dad's yard and test it out and spray it with waterproofing stuff.
