Wednesday before Tday!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Gena, I am also not a fan of holiday dinners. Maybe someday I will figure out how to start a new tradition that I can look forward to. I think by college I was trying to think of reasons not to be at the table. I am in awe of those families that have neat caring traditions and wished that I could have passed more of that on to my children. I think they enjoyed their G Allen's dinners but my side of the family not so much. We always teased my older brother, who was a police officer that he signed up for the holiday shifts just so he didn't have to attend. My step mother is gone now but none of us are missing her idea of holiday family time. It was always very stressful and a reminder of what our family wasn't....

Also ((((hugs)))) for strength while you watch the kids struggle and learn life's lesson.....

Not morning here, but I'm having afternoon coffee! We managed to sneak away for the third T-Day in a row and I am loving it! I can say that partly because we are lucky to live near both our families and can see them whenever we want.

We are camped about 50' from the Chesapeake Bay at a marina/campground called Taylors Island and the weather is FINE. My guys are hunting so its just me and the peeps. Literally. In the entire campground (except for the rabbits    there are domesticated rabbits running around all over go figure - there must be 6 under and around our camper at this moment and if my dogs wake up its going to get crazy in here!!!). The store closed at noon today but they left the game room open so we can shoot pool tonight! "Just lock up when you are done." Its a seasonal campground so they only have a few transient spots and it looks like we are it.

The camp store has an excellent selection of wine (pretty much any wine is excellent, right?) so I got myself a bottle for the turkey day feast I pre-cooked like a lunatic after work on Monday night. I am going to experiment with a Thanksgiving ingredient shepherds pie cooked in the DO.

DH and I also watched the dust bowl doc. Incredibly moving stories and scary to realize that the resources so relied upon to keep it from happening again are being depleted quickly.

Gena, your story really hit home with me right now. I'm sorry for the struggle you are feeling and I hope things turn around soon. After a few years of drama and turmoil, my parents are going through a similar situation with my sister. They put their plans on hold (both recently retired and had planned on taking off in their TT) and I am not dealing with that very well sometimes. I wish they would do a little less cleaning up the mess BUT that is not for me to say...and I haven't walked a mile in those shoes...

I hope you all have a wonderful, peaceful day tomorrow!

I'm also going to be at the FL GTG and am looking forward to meeting you, Carol. I have learned a LOT about managing and living "small" over the last five months--some by experience and a lot with the help of the ladies on this site.

All set up for the night on my way to northern Georgia, so no Thanksgiving for me tomorrow. This is fine because I got so tired of doing all that cooking for so many years. I might treat myself to a Cracker Barrel meal or something similar tomorrow, but dinner tonight is going to be a steak and rice milanese.

I pulled out the vacuum and cleaned up a bit, plus I defrosted both my refrig and the freezer. It is pretty full, so hopefully nothing will melt in the time it takes it to regain temp.

I have watched part of the Dust Bowl too. I also didn't realize it lasted so long. My grandparents came to Louisiana from New Mexico during the dust bowl. I don't think my grandmother ever got over how green Louisiana is. Her yard was like a jungle with all the plants she had. At Christmas she would mail pine and holly limbs to a friend that stayed in New Mexico. She painted her bedroom set green too. Sure wish I had know to ask more questions.

My friend and her family went to Disney World this week, mostly so they don't have to have the family drama of the holiday. Wonder where they are going for Christmas?

Judy, if you pass a Golden Corral they will have a Thanksgiving spread too. I don't know what parts of the country have Golden Corrals. That's one of my DH's favorite restaurants. Not so much mine. I eat too much at a buffet.

Part 1 on Sunday night was shown twice, and Part 2 was on Monday night shown twice.
I was also shocked by how badly those people were treated when they got to California! They lost everything in the dust bowl and then spent their last few dimes to get to California for a better life and ended up being treated like dirt (no pun intended  ) once they got there. Very sad.

Was busy at the shop today until around 6pm and then it was dead til 9pm. Lots to do in the morning before heading to my brothers house tomorrow.

Have a good TDay whatever your plans are!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
