Wish I could wiggle my nose like Samantha (old TV show) and be with you in SD Barbie! I so loved going to places out there, it is always too hot here to enjoy summer festivals. :( Sorry your roommates are having so many visitors, seems really unfair especially since they didn't ask or tell you ahead of time.

More on the cast iron collection, I still have my Granny's big outdoor cast iron kettle and her dutch oven. Also skillets that belonged to an old BF's father. All these pieces are well over a 100 years old. My Granny grew up cooking with cast iron in a fireplace & later on a wood cook stove. I don't use the dutch oven any longer as it is just too heavy. My favorite piece is a small skillet that has a lid and it fits in my toaster oven. It is just right for cooking small meals and corn bread.

When we were little my grandparents would take us to a cave that was partially open at the top, at Giant City Park. She would cook fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy over a fire from wood we gathered yummm!!! PaPa would hear a bird and would imitate its call so perfectly the bird would come closer. I so wanted to learn to whistle the way he did and practiced for weeks unsuccessfully.

4 more mins. of morning left here. Enjoying everyone's stroll down "cast iron pan" lane. Wouldn't it be interesting to read a book of everyone's memories of them?!

Returned just a bit ago from a second walk. First walk I wore my fleece jacket and jeans. Second, shorts and tank top! The weather fluctuates to much for the blood to regulate.

Campground is starting to fill with weekend campers. I am amazed at the amount if tenters. Talked to some very nice folks. Everyone seems to be happy to be out in the sun.

Enjoying everyone's posts. Lots of busy bees!
Wishing everyone a blessed day!

I'm an outcast on the cast iron issue - not fond of them. Had a set - were nicely seasoned, but just never saw the advantage of them. That's just me. Plus didn't like the weight of them - so gave them away years ago. If I still had them would have been happy to donate them to one of you!

My main reason for the dutch oven cooking - I don't have an oven in the Land Dinghy and no real space for a toaster oven. So I've learned the art of baking in the DO. I have an 8" and a 10" that I use most often, but I do have the standard 12" as well.

Echo, tell Kelly those videos and stuff are one of the things I was talking about being added. CBL modules (computer based learning!) There are a bunch that everybody has to do and more that are specific for each job. Ask her if they still have the one where you dress up the girl to go clean up hazerdous materials. That one had us all passing around cheat sheets! And I had one on driving the forklift! I never drove the forklift in 18= years! Thank goodness!
