Running around like a chicken with it's head cutoff visiting friends in from Turkey, Bar Mitzvah gtgs and ----not able to squeeze in time to get to Ocala :( before I leave for a week in West Palm Beach to take care of my 92 year old aunt, so her daughter can get some time off. My sister is flying in to be there also and I have to pick her up at the airport. Far from morning now, but just getting a chance to check in. Most of you are probably already sitting around the campfires (both virtual and real) getting warm and maybe having a little "something" to warm up the insides :D . Hope everyone enjoyed their day. carold

Last fall I put up plastic on my screened-in porch windows. They have since become covered in 1/4 inch of frost and ice so haven't been able to look outside at all. With the warmer weather coming this week, I figured that would all start to melt and make a big mess all over the floor and then refreeze into a big ice puddle. So I just spent the last couple hours scraping off all the ice from all the windows. I filled six 2-gallon bucketfuls of ice and dumped them into the bathtub to melt. Now I can see out again! It will probably frost up again but at least it won't be so thick. I did put a small hole in the plastic on one window but I can patch that up easy enough.
The ferrets were trying to help me by knocking over the bucket and spilling the ice chunks all over the floor and dancing on them. Needless to say, they got put back inside the apartment. (I did put them in the bathtub with the ice I put in there, but I guess that wasn't as much fun, since they jumped out right away and wanted to go back out on the porch.)
Now I am just relaxing and warming up with a cup of cappuccino. Too bad I ran out of Baileys

Barbie
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Wish you'd taken a picture of those ferrets playing with the ice, Barbie.

The picture of the ferrets palying with the ice makes me laugh this morning!

I, too, tried putting plastic on my screened-in porch one year, and had to rip it all down for the same reason you described! Even now, with just the screens up, the rime ice that forms from the moisture in the Monitor Heater exhaust covers the screens some days, but at least it doesn't build up, and melts off when the temperatures rise a bit! I can also knock it off the screens with a broom, if I want to. And the rime ice on the spider webs, long abandoned at this season, makes for some beautiful artwork! Of course, the snow blows in and covers the floor out there when we have storms with any winds, but I just sweep it up and out the doors and figure it's a cheap way to clean the indoor-outdoor carpeting!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!
