Let's start our day with a good morning here.

I also remember some of you talking about having little bouts of the chills for no reason. I find myself having the same thing and I am beginning to wonder now, if they are related to either the Covid shots or the Shingles shots, because I think all of us have had them. I didn’t really notice them until after I’ve had my shingles shot a month ago. I’m due to have my second one next week and it makes me wonder if I want to get it. They come and go.

I also agree with Velda regarding the vaccines. I will not take another Covid vaccine, for reasons I prefer not to go into at the moment. I would encourage everyone to re-read Velda's post, and give it some very serious thought.

Thanks to all who wrote about Soos. She definitely sounds like my kind of person. Sad to know that she doesn't come on here anymore; I don't do Facebook.

I forgot Rabbits again. It has been windy all day and I can still hear the wind. We have a chance of storms tomorrow. The worst is suppose to be mid state but we'll see. I went to Lafayette and I haven't seen the traffic that bad in a while. Got caught in a traffic jam at a malfunction railroad crossing. It was right before a traffic light. The arms would be down when the light was green and go up when the light was red so no one could go. Then people started going around the arms.

Anita, sorry your cruise wasn't the best. I have only been on two cruises and I wouldn't do any of the excursions again.

I haven't had any ill effects from the covid shots and boosters that I know of. I took the shingles shot when there was only one so it was some years ago. I was going to ask the doctor I went to if I should take the new shots but I forgot, of course.

Beth, glad you didn't gain any weight from Mardi Gras. I'm up 2 1/2 pounds. The King Cake is calling to me but I haven't taken it out of the freezer. I was walking for a few days but slacked off again. My tennis shoes are in the camper and I keep forgetting to go get them. Good excuse. lol

I called Sugar's prescription in and it was ready this afternoon. It was getting late when I got back to town so didn't feel like going to Walmart. Another trip to town.

Anita I truly only go out when I need to usually grocery store post office usually the same trip and church on Sunday... if there is something else that comes up will do it but don't go looking for excuses for a trip out...
the cruise ships are busy that is true... too bad that your friend got hurt... hoping she will heal real well with PT... I really enjoyed my cruise but the over all part of it was I was with family there was 6 of us so rarely by myself unless because I wanted to be ... I went to a coloring activity was sitting there coloring away when my son popped in sat and it was just the two of us that is a rarity and doesn't happen very often just "small" talk but it was good ... I don't think I would go on a cruise by myself though...
when your here most days it's hard to come up with "news" that you don't already know...
I always enjoy the first of the month report it's good to see everyone ...
made a chicken pot pie tonight ...when I realized how late I would be finishing it called a friend and asked if she was off work she was the kiddies gone they were (she teaches skiing to little ones) so invited her to supper I've wanted to for a long time but she doesn't get off work till 6 and quite often some of the kids don't get picked up right on time.... I try doesn't happen all the time but try to eat between 5:30 to 6 and hoping for closer to 5:30 the ck pot pie turned out good rather rustic looking there are days when I can make pie crust and there are other days when I can't this was one of those days... not sure the reason why... probably too much water but it simply wouldn't hold together when I would test it...
I enjoyed hearing from everyone just wish that I could remember what was said and that it wasn't so late I need to close and go to the room...
Beth so glad that you didn't put on any wish I could say that but no ones fault but mine...
you all have a great day
it's wild what the reports have of the snow in the high Sierra's saw where Truckee CA had at least 9 ft...
mind boggling

Good thing I said "rabbits"! I heard on the news tonight that early this afternoon, it started to hail heavily north of here and cars were sliding and crashing on the freeway where I had been earlier! :o I dodged a bullet there! There is a state of emergency for San Bernardino in the mountains just north of LA. They got about 4 feet of snow the other day and they don't have enough plows to clear the smaller streets up there and a lot of people are stuck in their homes unable to get out. That is a vacation area so a lot of families were up there for the weekend and only had enough food for a couple days and have now been there for about 5 days now.
A lot of snow fell in the mountains to the east of me in Joshua Tree, which doesn't happen very often because they are not very high. I have only seen snow on them once before. Joshua Tree NP was closed today due to snow on the roads there too.

Anita, sorry you had a less than great cruise but hopefully you had some fun times to remember. Hope your friend heals quickly. Hope the other apartment gets approved.

Made some chicken a la king for dinner tonight. It is just a quicky recipe but it wasn't too bad.

Good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Beth, just so you know, Soos was correct on smoking turkey low and slow. Recommended temp is 225°. If you "crank it up" as you mention, you quickly go from smoking to roasting/baking. Low heat=smoke, high heat does not allow smoke to be maintained because products of combustion - smoke is fully consumed and you lose that special smoke flavor! You end up searing the outside not allowing any remaining smoke to penetrate. I kind of knew this, having watched Mel run his smokers for 42 years, but I doubled checked sources and , what do you know- I remembered exactly right-225°!
Finally had a clear day! Cool in low 50's, but nice.
I had shingles pretty bad at age 24, less so in my late 30's and even lighter in my 40's! Only got antiviral 3rd time. I'll take my chances on round 4 ever happening as I will not take their vaccine with its attending serious risks. But, just so you know, even my most serious bout, I was back to work in three weeks!
Barbara, shingles is not about being susceptible - its about whether you had chicken pox as a child. The chicken pox and shingles virus are varicella zoster. Once you have it as a child, the virus lingers in a nerve and under certain circumstances such as stress or weakened immunity, it will pop up again as Shingles. It's extremely rare for a child to get Shingles and there is now is a childhood vaccine for chicken pox. So, Barbara, if you had Shingles as a child, yes you are susceptible to Shingles under certain circumstances but , not by being infected with it, but by your body being run down and it reactivated that lingering virus. Read about the risks and benefits of the vaccine and make a informed decision.
