Yes I'm aware of how and what is done as I had (because of incorrect diagnosis) laser to remove the clouded membrane exactly as you describe. I can't believe your Dr is using those terms incorrectly but if what he did helps, then that's what counts! As one site I read said, them telling you that is a over simplified incorrect statement!

If you look this procedure up online, “cleaning” is exactly what ophthalmologist call it.

Judy if you actually look at the surgical/procedure consent it should say Posterior Capsulotomy, because that is what it is. It does not clean the lens. As I said, that is considered simplified outdated terminology because it is incorrect. There is no way to clean the plastic intra ocular lens implant. no legit surgeon should be using incorrect terms like that, unless they consider you too stupid to understand!
