He is working two or three days each week after school and on some weekends to pay for his flying lessons. I think parents are paying part of it also. He will work all summer as well. And he will go to community college for first two years to save money for additional training as he needs it beyond his private license.
My son is a high school science teacher here in Napa, and my DIL is a middle school principal. Small kids were a challenge but they both say they can handle teenagers easily after 20+ years of experience each. They have been good parents, so I agree with that. They run a tight ship, as the saying goes, and kids are helpful and well behaved.
