All good here. A quiet day.

Thank you so much, Velda.
I am waiting for an appointment for the ultrasound and, possibly/likely surgery, so I will be returning as soon as I hear from them.
UC Davis has been a BIG disappointment - when I phoned UC Davis I was told that Joe's problem was an "Internal Medicine" problem, they couldn't see him for that kind of issue, and that I would need to seek out an veterinary internist. They gave me a link to a website of (supposedly) veterinary internists in the Sacramento area so that I could schedule an appointment with one of them.
The link on the website to the internist list returned an error message.
I tried phoning UC Davis back to try for better info, after being on hold for a half hour I gave up.
So much for that.
I had been in the process of moving Joe from a vet who we had been seeing for several years (couple reasons - I had an urgent question that it took two days to get a response to (this vet owns the practice, and it is just mostly him and his clerical staff, and he is very busy) and also this vet is a 25-mile round-trip for me and does not have evening/weekend hours.
The new vet (a clinic with several vets on staff) I was in process of transferring to is open until 8 p.m. 7 days per week (Saturday and Sunday hours) and is only about a mile from my house.
I had already completed an appointment with the new vet clinic before all of this blew up; thus I was already an "officially established client".
When I phoned this new-to-me vet clinic on Saturday, I was told that the weekend vet was out sick and that there would be no one that could see Joe on either Saturday or Sunday. (Again, one of the primary reasons for moving was to have better - and weekend! - accessibility to veterinary care).
So, a lot of effort for nothing.
When I asked, the receptionist there provided me with the names of three emergency 24/7 vets in the Sacramento area:
Loomis Basin (a bit north-east of Roseville)
https://vcahospitals.com/loomis-basin
Atlantic Street
Marqeen
Since Loomis Basin seemed closest to me, and I had heard a few good things about Loomis Basin over the years, this is where I went. The Loomis Basin clinic is about a hundred mile round-trip from my house, maybe a little less. The other clinics would be even further.
