Thursday, Christmas Eve

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Back from delivering homemade English Toffee ice cream to my “adopted” daughter and her family and then on to my daughter’s to deliver homemade El Salvador quesadilla (a dessert and not remotely like the “standard” quesadilla) and gifts for my 4 grandchildren. All socially distant. Definitely different from Christmases past, but so thankful everyone is healthy. Stay safe everyone. Merry Christmas.

Thank you for the update on Tina, Liz. I am sorry it has been such a rough time for her. Praying for your daughter and son-in-law as well.

We have been out of freezing temps for a few hours today, but they are heading down again. Perhaps a little snow tomorrow and probably not above freezing all day. Possibly will be colder at the kids' than here. They got a big windstorm the other night as did the canyon we drove up today. In that canyon a tree fell on a little barn and killed a horse. :(

There were icicles on the boulders along the road today but not a good place to stop for photos.

Everyone be safe and have a Merry Christmas!

Martha, that is too funny about Rascal swinging from the curtains!!  They do know how to get your attention one way or another!! The part of the palm frond I used is what stays on the trunk after the leafy part of the fronds have been cut off. Eventually, the base part dries up and falls off from the wind. That is the part I used for the reindeer.

Shirl, I love that song and I have always loved John Anderson! I went to many of his concerts! "Swingin'" was his first big hit. And Dean Martin always sounds good!

I drove my golf cart around the park last night to look at the Christmas lights here. There are only about 40% of our residents here right now so it was kind of sparse but some were very pretty! They are doing the Christmas parade here again tonight so will go back out to watch that in awhile.

I went to pick up my spaghetti for tomorrow but decided to just dig in right away. It is SO good and for $13, there is enough for about 4 or more meals for me! My other neighbor gave me a small loaf of fresh banana nut bread. So something to snake on between spaghetti and pie!

There is a wildfire that broke out late last night in north county San Diego. It started inland and spread to Camp Pendleton this morning. High winds there made it spread quickly. It is currently over 3000 acres. 7000 people have been evacuated so far. :o The fire is very close to the large gourd farm that I go to and order my supplies from. Hoping they are spared along with all the homes in that beautiful area.

It is still cloudy and gloomy here and a bit chilly (well low 60's  ) by our standards.

Anita, I think it is gonna get colder all over the country the next few days. The upper midwest got hit with a blizzard. That is so sad about the horse :(

Have a nice cozy evening!

Well, just 15 minutes before the start of the parade, we got rain, heavy rain!! It continued to rain for amost an hour! Finally, just now we had about 8 golf carts come by for a very mini parade but glad I was out there to watch. I am sure no one else was paying attention and figured it was cancelled. I still had my slider door open to listen to the rain and then went out to put food in the dishes for the cats, when I heard the music and saw the lights coming around the corner. :D Well, anyways, we need the rain so no complaints here.

I am watching a local (Los Angeles) Christmas program on TV that has dancers and singers from different nationalities. It is very good!. I think so far I like the Mexican performers. The dresses are beautiful and I love to watch the ladies dance!

it has been a cloudy cold day today... a good day to have the oven on made apple crisp and rolls thought even though they are better warm they can be cold the corn casserole and stuffing not so much or the sweet potatoes... I tried lighting the oven and it wouldn't come on... thankfully it was the lighter just wasn't shooting out a good enough flame... new lighter all is well...not sure that the tuna and crackers was what I wanted for supper but not sure what else sounds good either... it's late shouldn't be eating anything but ....
I have for several years gotten a post office box over in Ehrenburg... the main reason being there isn't the line that Q's post office usually has (I am sure that this year they won't be as bad) and the personality of the employee's much better attitude in Ehrenburg...and when we started going there it was on the way to Blythe and K-Mart now no K-Mart don't go to Blythe as often so it is sorta out of the way but ran to Post Office as packages had been mailed thought they would be here dd texted me said your package will be at the post office... Nothing Nada at all... not even a ad  even asked them to double check so guess I will go over again on Monday or Tuesday see if they have arrived should be at least two pkgs. and a card from a couple...
So glad to hear news of Tina have been getting worried hope that it's all about improvement now ...
to each and everyone
a Very Merry Christmas

Just got back from my son's house. Had dinner there and stayed around long enough to watch a movie. Daughter-in-law cooked a ham, but when we were done and had sliced off all the meat to store in the refrigerator after dinner, she was about to toss the bone. I rescued it for Split pea soup. Don't have any split peas, but it will keep a couple of days until I get some. Will make some great soup!!

Luckily, they are all still healthy, but are continuing to get weekly tests because my son is a teacher and DIL is principal of a middle school. And I am still feeling fine, except for my nasty scrape from my bike fall. It is still very sore and seeping, but very slowly healing from the edges in. Still lots of sore bruises on my legs, but it could have been a lot worse.

Going back over there in the morning to unwrap presents and Zoom with my Ohio son and his family. Napa family will open gifts at 7 am, but I said I would pass on that!!!! Ten AM is a little more like it for me.
