Judy if you are really desperate to avoid people......you could find a laundry you can drop off your things and pick them up later. Years ago I worked with a teacher that was always running late to make it to the classroom on time. She had two small toddlers, she would tell stories of dropping her laundry, especially the kid's soiled blankets and sheet (they did seem to wet the bet a lot) at the laundry in the morning on her way into school and picking the laundry up on her way home........ That was just another way that I knew her life style was way different than mine......... Especially that work ethic of arriving on time and being prepared for work......

When I met Harold there was a cleaners in town that also washed and ironed clothes. He brought his laundry to them. After we married I continued to bring his jeans and shirts to them to wash, starch and iron. I was really sad when the cleaners burned down and they didn't reopen. They weren't very expensive but the other places in town were so it became my job. I don't often buy clothes now but I won't buy clothes that need to be dry cleaned. It's ridiculous how much they charge, it's like buying your clothes again.

When I was working at my office job, before I retired, I would never buy any article of clothing that needed to be dry cleaned or even needed to be ironed.

If it wasn't 'wash and wear' and didn't come out of the dryer reasonably wrinkle-free (wrinkle-free enough to wear to work), out it would go!!

I grew up being the designated "iron-er" for a family of seven. Weekends meant me at the ironing board all day Saturday and Sunday, while my sibs were outside romping with the neighbor kids.

I came to hate ironing with a passion. Still do, for that matter.
