Some refrigerators are 3 way, electric, propane and battery. Mine is 3 way but the battery option doesn't work as well as the other 2. I never have the propane on when I'm traveling. I put it on battery and put a couple of frozen blue ice blocks in the refrigerator. When I get to the campground I put the blue ice back in the freezer for the next travel day.
