S-nless S-nday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Soggy Sunday in September

Postby Redwahine » Sun Sep 30, 2012 7:24 am

Good morning all :P It is dark, overcast and soggy. It rained all day yesterday and poured in the evening. This AM is still drizzling and the dark clouds are blocking the sunrise. When already awake I enjoy the symphonies of the country; crowing of the roosters at dawn, mooing of the hungry calves, bleating goats, occasional whinny of horses and of course barking dogs. But when I'm trying to go back to sleep on a lazy Sunday morning, I'd like to take a shotgun to them all

Gonna find my way to the coffee pot then figure out what's available for breakfast :P

Hummingbirds are so beautiful and elusive. I have 2 potted hibiscus plant/trees outside the kitchen window. When I'm working at the kitchen sink, it is like having two fresh bouquets of flowers every morning. Humming birds love hibiscus!! While sipping my coffee yesterday I heard a thud against the big bay window. I've heard that sound before and it usually is a bird that flew into the window. They usually break their necks. I went outside and found a little hummingbird lying on the ground still, as if dead. With a paper towel, I pick the pour thing up and it starred me straight in the eye, unable to move. I gently laid it on the soil in the hibiscus plant. Every color of the rainbow, bright and irredescent, lie their looking at me. While watching humming birds, I sometimes wish they could slow down just for a second so I could see how pretty they are. I was afraid she was dead. After drinking in the fragile beauty, I went in the house, leaving her. A few minutes latter, she was gone!!

Don't know what is planned for today for DH, DD and me. Depends on the weather. Everyone have a safe and fun filled day.
Remember to say rabbits tomorrow morning  Aloha

Good morning all! Sorry your dealing with the soggy weather today....pretty darn cold here in B.C. for this new camper. Hot coffee on straight away and work out a new plan of action maybe for winter parking. Am still waiting to get confirmation at a campground I paid a deposit on Friday to come in on the 1st of October. Can hardly believe I'm going winter camping, only because such a lifestyle seemed only a fantasy not long ago, but now reality.

I just love it. I was only joking about the being homeless, my wheeled home is the cat's pajamas for me.

Have a fabulous day all!

Cheers!

Good morning & "the 7th"day blessings to all! :D Hope that smiley face brings some brightness into this day, as it appears that Soos & I are not the only ones hiding from raindrops this weekend. It never did dry off here yesterday, & rain is in the forecast for another few days. I'll need a hay baler by the time I'm able to mow again. Very gray & misty yesterday (as is today), so I made time to visit the local library--they'll get the "Ella" book for me (interlibrary loan)! My messages certainly have some strange wording as I'm trying my best to avoid words with "yew." I did try to pop off my "yew" key, however it barely loosened, so I was afraid I'd find myself in a worse dilemma. So bear with me as I carry on with this attempt, & perhaps some day, I'll get this thing to BB (not bed'n'breakfast  ) or some other repair shop. Anway, I did get several small inside projects done yesterday, one of which was the cooking of the last ripe maters! My bro will be here today, we'll check the plants for any "potential ripeners," however, I think my mater days are over for the season! :P Will be raking leaves soon, storing the lawn chairs & yard ornaments, planting "spherical/root" things to have irises in the spring...been meaning to do that for years! ...Is it "Red" who has the new rig? congrats on that! Someone on the road today? Wishing safe travels, whoever that may be  Doing with less? It CAN be done & the road to it is really exciting--I'm living proof  ... Sorry, I'm still getting names & events intermingled. Now I can't remember who said what  Oh, cripes, & I'm not the proper hostess--never offering breakfast! Can we all live with that? I'm taking the "morning coffee" thing literally! Hot coffee first thing; food, well that comes later  Y'all have a special day! Love y'all! :D

Good morning all,
Sounds like many of you are getting rained on... After our drought in KC, I'd love to have some more. Today will be perfect here - right now low 60's, high around 80.
Red, loved the ending of the hummingbird episode - nature surely is amazing! :D Can't wait till you get your new 5er. It sure is a beauty!
My son's wedding yesterday gave us a new experience with the van. I transported everyone staying at my house in it - total of 8 on the way to the wedding... What a cool experience. :D With 2 lounge sofas in the middle, everyone had lots of space & even I & the front passenger could participate in the conversation. Added 2 more grandkids after the wedding for a total of 10 & still had plenty of room. Carted everyone between houses in 'the van' the rest of the day - so much fun. They dubbed it the 'Silver Shuttle'. Not exactly what I bought it for - but loved using it this way! Really cool being able to keep everyone together so comfortably. :D :D
Everyone is headed out of town today so I'll get to put house back in order. Need to de-clutter the garage. :(
Folks should be getting up around here soon so I'd better go.
Hope those of you in the damp parts of the country stay dry, those in the heat stay cool & everyone else just enjoy! :D

The rain band came through here with 30 mph wind and woke me and the cats up. It was blowing so hard it pushed the 4 wheeler off the carport. I don't know how much rain we have received since yesterday but it is probably about 3 inches. Oh well, I'll get to see all of Sunday Morning.

No plans for today other than to try to stay dry.

Good morning everyone!

Carolb, you amaze me with how you can write such a nice, long post without using any "yews!"

It's chilly on the eastern shore of MD but the sun is shining. I have a load of clothes in the washer which will get hung outside to take advantage of the beautiful weather. I just lit the woodstove to take the chill off in the house. Yesterday, I got a batch of tomatoes blanched and they're in the freezer. There weren't enough to make a sauce with, but I didn't want to lose them. There are still lots of green tomatoes on the vines, but at this late date, I don't think many more will ripen outside. I will try my luck at ripening them in paper bags.

I'm enjoying reading about those attending the GTG's, the ones coming back from Alaska, Lori & Ernie are still in NM and the others of you traveling here and there. I called another campground in Florida yesterday and we'll try to spend a month there after we leave the park in Ocala. Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!

Loved the hummingbird story too. It sounded like the little bird was just stunned. I love hummingbirds too.

The Silver Shuttle was the perfect vehicle. Sounds like you will be really busy today now that everyone is gone from the wedding.

It has finally stopped raining here. It rained all day and night. Sure brought the temperatures down which is a really good thing. Well, I spoke too soon. Just looked out the window above my computer screen and it is raining straight down again. I am glad the dogs and I just came back in. I don't know which of us was more miserable in the rain yesterday when I took them out. Rascal figured out he could stand under the rig and stay out of the rain. I sure did want to join him! He would stay there until I opened the door to the rig then come running to get back in. One good thing from the rain was he realized he could go up the stairs without me having to put his back paws on the lower step. Now he just goes up them lickety split.

I have some burned out lights in the kitchen area as of this morning. I need to figure out how to take the covers off and get replacement bulbs. I want to replace all the bulbs with LED lights as they burn out. I will have to dig through the stack of paperwork and brochures I got with the rig to figure out how to pop the covers. I don't want to tear anything up.

Hope everyone has a great day today and if you are traveling, stay safe.

Carolb, I was amazed at your post without a "yew" too. It is amazing how many words have that letter in them.

It rained all day and night yesterday so didn't do much except watch TV and knit. Since it is raining again this morning, looks like it is going to be that kind of day again today.

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

Have to chuckle this morning! Two Sunday Coffee posts and both of them the title is referencing the weather! Sounds like it's raining all over the place. It did rain here yesterday but not that much and today? I'm not sure what it's gonna do out there. I know that at the moment the temp is nice but it's muggy for sure. Kelly said that she turned the A/C back on this morning at about 4:30, said she got up to go P and it was just to warm and stuffy in here. Have it off for now and the door is open.

Trees here are getting a slight touch of color on them. I look out the door and see a slight tinge of bronze and gold. Not much but some. We are both waiting for the trees to change. Kelly and I have both missed the "changing" of the seasons! The desert is OK, but I have discovered that I don't like living there year round. To hot in the summer and there aren't any Maple trees. There are some Oak but the color change just isn't the same. :D

Never did get anything done in here yesterday. I felt really kinda punky all day yesterday. Just didn't seem to have the get up and go or the umph to do anything. Today I feel a little better so I will see what I might be able to get done.

OK, all done now! ;) Hope ya'll have a great day, do something fun and stay safe. If your moving on down the highway or country road, be sure to use extra caution and look at all the beautiful scenery. I'm off to read and check up on things!

Love to all

Funny how Red and I live on opposite sides of town and the weather can be so different. We got way less than an inch of rain. Most of the time it was a soft gentle rain. I'm trying to find photos from my MI trip and I have lost a card with photos on them. I'm afraid I may have thought I had already downloaded them and erased them. ack!

Good Morning... Went to church but had my daughter bring me home before ABF... was dizzy not sure why...
Oh Red my GF in MI has three feeders for the hummingbirds... she told me to watch and that the males fight... I sat out side and sure enough they were fighting... very territorial... I too wish they would stop for a while... when we looked on the net we learned they fly over the Gulf of Mexico without stopping 500 miles... the flight takes between 18 & 24 hours... could hardly believe that...
We are having a beautiful fall day here in Illinois... most of the crops were lost because of the drought... I hope we have snow this winter to help replenish the supply of water...
I trust you are all having a great day...
