Monday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday Morning

Postby bluepinecones » Mon Aug 08, 2011 10:06 am

Good Morning ladies
Everyone must either be sleeping in or are out trying to get chores done before heat of day hits.
Strong coffee and fresh fruit here; you are on your own for anything else.
I am ready for cooler fall weather but do always hate to see days get shorter. I can already tell we are loosing daylight at rate of several minutes a day.
Nothing exciting planned for my day so others will have to chime in here.
Stay safe and cool whatever you have planned.

Good morning, nothing really going on here, haven't found any energy yet today and as its fast going by, I probably won't   It was hot and so still outside when Maggie and I, first ventured out, that energy that might have been after morning coffee, never developed :)

Another day, in my life, where nothing is accomplished ? I am so hoping we have a Fall, I have been all messed up here with no Spring this year. So many things that were spring jobs, I am trying to do in summer weather, not working out to well.

Thanks for the strong coffee, and fruit, Sarah. I needed the Strong coffee,

Have a great day everyone, hope its more productive then mine looks to be here. Of course, we can all have a lazy day, whatever we want, RIGHT ? Isn't that how retirement is spelled? ;)

GOOD MORNING SARAH, CAROL, AND ALL!

Now that it's nearly noon, I have time to do some typing before I head to the post office, Ace Hardware for a hornet spray killer can, and then over to Buck Pond Campsite to check on Richard who just headed that way to dump his tanks and try to find a good spot to camp for a couple of days. If I can put together my truck camper top enough to camp with my attachable tent, I might join him over there. However, I have electricity, TV, phone, swimming pool, (sort of!) blueberries to pick, and a beautiful view. Makes me wonder why I would want to go there. I'm sure the waterfront sites are probably all booked up for the rest of the year, and the others leave me cold. But I can visit Richard while he is there.

We had a tiny amount of rain last night, but nothing to make much of a difference. I haven't had to mow in about a week now----great vacation from that! I hate to think we are on the downside of summer, but I suppose we are indeed. I love August for its lack of biting flies, ripe berries, (fast becoming overripe) and clear skies. I still have my GTG to look forward to, my grandson's birth the first of October, and my long trek back to sunny Florida for the winter. I guess I will shoot for a November 1st leaving date, if I can tear myself away from that new baby! If not, I will need to get some more firewood, polish up my cross-country skis and boots, and prepare to tackle more "destuffing." Those last chores are enough to get me packed and ready to pull out for a southern winter which is very much like this northern summer. I nearly have my credit card debt I accrued coming home paid off, and will be ready to begin again on the trip back down there.

I am so thankful for the fantastic summer we have had here in the Adirondacks----it's been the best I can remember for the 49 years I have lived here. When I hear about the oppressive heat of other places, I thank my lucky stars for the sunshine, warmth, cool nights, light, cooling breezes every day, no violent storms, and nothing weather-wise to prevent enjoying the outdoors each and every day. This summer has been very much like my Florida winter last year---perfect in every way. I could not ask for anything better. I do realize how unbelievably lucky I am to be living in both places. It saddens me to read of heat and storms that do so much damage and prevent outside activities. I wonder about the future if the warming and climate change continues on the same track.

I hope you all can find some activity that will give you satisfaction today, and a lot of fun! You are always welcome to hitch up and head up here any time!

Happy travels!

Good Morning everyone... our temps are on the down side finally... will be in the 70s tomorrow...
Not much going on here today... am waiting for a speech to text program that I bought on e-bay then I will continue writing 'speaking' the book series I am working on...
Have been looking into senior apartments in the area... hopefully I can sell my mobile home and will be still able to continue going to the warm climate for the winter... I am sure it will take me at least a year to get everything done...
Have a great day everyone drink lots of water...

Been up on Hope's roof installing a solar exhaust fan for the fridge. Wheww! Hardest thing I've done all year trying to fish that wire down thru the coils! Used some baling wire but it kept getting stuck. Finally got it, taped the solar wire to the baling wire and pulled it on down. Almost done. Came in the house to cool off for a while, then I'll finish the install. The solar panels are filthy, so is the roof, so need to haul a hose up there and clean. It's really really hot on the route I'm taking, so thought this fan would help my poor fridge stay cooler. That's IF I ever get out of here! I'm trying for Wed, but we'll see.

Hope everyone has a great day and stays cool.....

Morning all, well early afternoon I guess. I'm stuck here in my sticks and bricks home doing necessary tasks. There's a leak in the hot tub near the heater. I bought the part but can't get the old one off so had to resort to calling my stepson in for help. Hated to do that but do need the hot tub fixed. It's about 10 years old and I don't want to replace it or have to remove it. Either one would mean tearing down a privacy fence. Yuck! Someone told me when I bought Seeker that it's just one thing after another to have to fix. Well, it hasn't been that with her but it sure seems to be something every other day with the house. I do so want this economy to get better and sell this house. Enough bellyaching. I'm better off than so many in so many ways. Will just let that go till tomorrow when Michael can help me. I did replace the old gold/tarnished green bathroom faucet in Seeker. Guess I thought I could do anything after that. And no, it didn't need it, I just hated that ugly old faucet. Another hot one today. Will try to take Gus and the kayak to the lake for a while.

Stay safe!

I am "bum"ming. Literally! :?

Last Friday I had my recheck for my skin cancer. The Dr found two other places that he wanted to do biopsies on. One on my lower back at the waistline and the other on my "bum". At the time I wasn't thinking of anything but getting the procedure done as I was there already and undressed. I've had mole removal before and figured it wouldn't be a week and I'd be back to get the stitches out and all would be find. Well, the spot on my bum wasn't a mole, to be exact. The Dr wasn't sure if it was a sweat gland problem or what, but he wanted to be sure and so did I. Anyhow, it took 3 stitches to close that wound and the recovery is totally different from what I've had to do with other biopies. For one, of course, I can only sit on one cheek. Doesn't take long for my back to start howling doing that. The next is to limit my walking. So much for my new BodyMedia armband that tracks my steps/activities etc. :) Then the appt for stitches removal is the 19th. The last day of our NW GTG!
Today I called the nurse to see about changing the appt for later as I had every intention of still going, and only then did I mention about the GTG. She wasn't happy and pretty much told me all that sitting and driving wasn't good, and my walking still had to be limited and no, the appt had to stay, no sooner, no later! Not sure why they are acting so differently with this surgery. I didn't ask, I just wanted to be able to go to the GTG and enjoy it. I even told her that one of the gals was a nurse and might be able to remove the stitches but she wasn't buying that, either.
So I cancelled my reservation. I am NOT a happy camper. :x

Sorry you had to cancel Lenora. I do think the nurse is being overly protective for 3 stiches. I had 1/3 of my butt cheek removed and they didn't place any restrictions on me, I drove short distances as soon as I could sit one sided. If you can take frequent breaks I'd reconsider. Isn't your son a doctor? I'd ask his opinion. I would think any nurse could take out your stitches.
It is wonderfully cool with little humidity here today :) :) :) I went to yoga class then out to lunch with some of the group, how good to be out in the world in the daytime!!! I feel like a new person. I hope the cool comes soon to the rest of you who are having the terrible heat/humidity.

Awww, that's to bad Lenora, I know how much you were looking forward to this GTG. I agree, I would chech with the doctor son and see what he says. I've never heard of not being able to wait a couple of days to take stitches out.
