Foggy Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Foggy Friday

Postby Colliemom » Fri May 20, 2011 6:11 am

Morning all,

Foggy out there this morning. Will clear off later. Maybe we will see some sunshine. After a nice sunny start to the week, it's been cloudy and drizzily for the past two days. Yesterday, a light but steady rain developed and needless to say, we got a little wet at work. But we kept on chugging along despite it. Work to be done you know. Today we open our South Campground, so the entire park is now in operation. And I have to admit that after a month of clean, rake, shovel, pitch, grass cuting, putting up signs, and other things, it's looking great out there.

Patty, sorry to hear you still can't get into your campground. That's frustrating, especially with a holiday weekend coming up. But I know the feeling. It was so chilly and wet one day last week, that I think if the temp had been any lower, it would have been snowing here too. Hopefully mom nature will give you some cooperation. It's been funny and not normal weather all over the country this spring.

Was sitting in my living room having my breakfast and watching a couple of bunnies out in the front yard, just sitting by a spruce tree. Wonder how many more will be aruond before long. We all know that two plus two in the bunny world can be ??????

Did a bit more work on my TT's cupboard doors after dinner last night. have some glue drying, so should be able to finish installing the latches on three of the doors either tonight or tomorrow. One broke on me, so have to go get another one, no big deal. Should have it completed by first of next week. Better have, as i need to get that thing cleaned and loaded up before next Sunday.

Otherwise nothing much new here. Same old, same old. Just working, doing the spring chores, walking the girls etc. Garage sale starts up again today and after tomorrow's is over, I am taking the tables that belong to my TT out so I can use them next weeekend. There is getting to be enough space on other tables to set the stuff on now..

So, I'm off to get this day rolling. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Looks like it's going to be a beautiful day here in the foothills of the Blue Ridge. Roe says there's a nice hiking trail in this cg that leads to a viewpoint. So that's what's on my agenda today.

Nan's inverter was installed yesterday at Camping World in Statesville, NC. We're staying a couple of days at this COE cg, so will not get a chance to test it out until we get up on the Blue Ridge. The next hurdle will be to see if her 32' Southern Comfort will fit into one of the sites at the NP cgs up there.

Have some chores to do before hiking so will check in again later to see what everyone else is doing.

GOOD MORNING SUE, LIZ, AND ALL!

Beautiful morning shot of the sun's rays, Liz! And Roe is ready to roll! I will be anxious to hear about the Blue Ridge Parkway campsites and the size of the spaces. Also, what the haul up to the top of that road is like. The last time I did it, I was in a van with a tent and all, rather than hauling.

The hotter weather is back along with the humidity this morning, after a nice cool night out on my porch. This may be an air conditioning day, the first one in a while.

My daughter called me yesterday afternoon, and she will be here at Orlando/Sanford Airport on Monday night, late-----about 10:30 or 11ish! I am really excited! She will come alone, spend the week here next week (here and at St. Cloud to visit bro and Melissa) and then she and I will begin our trek back on Mmeorial Day or the day after. YIPPEE! I will have company and an extra set of eyes on the way back!

I am scheduled to go to St. Cloud today and then hit the RV show tomorrow, but, with hot and humid weather, I am thinking I might just stay right here and utilize my pool, and Molly will be nice and cool if I turn on the AC later. I could still meet the kids at the show tomorrow, if we still wanted to go. I'll see. I'm on a 'no-schedule' mode! If a breeze comes up today, I may just head out anyway, after I vacuum this place.

Hoping you all are having a good day wherever you may be. Stop in and check with us when you can.

Happy travels!

Happy Friday everyone! My next to last one before I leave the working world. How strange it will be to start looking at the calendar from Jan. to Dec. instead of Aug. to May?

The weather is warm and going up to 85 today with sunshine. Guess that's why a lot of my students stayed out of school this morning. Only 2 in my 8am class. One of the girls is all up in the air because, in her words, too much drama in my house last night and this morning. "My daddy got arrested last night and this morning my sister turned herself in." I had her sister 2 years ago in this same class so I can believe it. I may go back to teaching, at least part time, but I will not work with the JD system again. It's just too hearbreaking.

But on a brighter side, I have been spending beautiful afternoons in my flower beds. And it's really starting to look nice. All the roses are blooming, the peonies are done, and the lilies are budding out. Hope to have an open house right after school is out. I have just 3 things on my agenda: retire, sell the sticks/stone house, hit the road. And each one is getting closer.

Good morning all!

Like Vickie, I'm counting the days until school, but unlike her I have to come back next year. :( The happy part is that I have 19 days left, and 3 of them will be out of the classroom. I might just make it ...

The hardest part of this job has GOT to be the parents. I swear I'm going to say something some day that'll get me hauled in for a hand slap or worse. Parents who think we're no better than manual labor (no offense meant, please) and are there to be ordered around like we're morons ought to spend a day in a classroom by themselves, just to see what their little darlings are like. And to be blamed for their inabilitiy to perform at grade level when nothing is done at home to help them ... sheesh.

Okay, enough ranting for so early in the morning. I'm going to the Strawberry Festival in Oxnard tomorrow. It's a personal tradition, and I'm going to indulge in some strawberry pizza. It'll be worth the gas just to get on the road and go. Today I'm going to work hard to not bite anyone's head off and begin cleaning out cupboards in my classroom. We have to pack up every year, putting everything behind locked doors. It's a pain. Feels like I'm moving twice a year.

Guess I'm feeling a bit grumpy this morning. :?

Hope everyone's day is good!

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

BRRRRR! It's been cold and snowy here. Past two days it has snowed off and on and all told we ended up with about 8" of new snow. YUCK! :x Everybody is wondering where the heck Spring and Summer are hiding. Kelly had to do housekeeping yesterday while it was snowing so she used the truck to lug around her supplies, including sheets and such. Kelly says that while she is nervous about doing reservations by herself today and tomorrow? She is very glad that she only has to do housekeeping one day a week. I think the only one that is happy with the snow is Shade! ;) Let her out the door yesterday morning to go P, she took one look at all the new snow, started quivering then proceeded to take a flying leap off our small porch and then started her bunny hopping! Then she just had to take a snow bath!!!!!   Dang fool dog, butt and tail up in the air and the rest of her she was trying to bury in the snow, growling the whole time! She cracks me up.

I have the bathrooms cleaned and need to get out in the kitchen and get my sinks set up for washing. Hope everyone has a super fantastic day and that the sun is shining on your shoulders! Be safe in all that you do.

Love to all

Good Morning cloudy here for the day but we will get to 80 with any luck... Shadow and I will take a ride on the trike... sadly I have not ridden like I did in Florida...
Was very pleased with all of my blood tests and physical exam yesterday... cannot believe that my cholesterol and sugar are fine along with all the other battery of tests they do every year... my question would be how does this happen with the weight I carry... sure wish that would change... also had the dreaded mammogram...
Oh Soos I can guess you are anxious to see Mandy and be on your way home... Sue hope you get the cabinets done... be sure to post pictures... Liz you will have Nan wanting to go full time! That picture is beautiful!
I hope everyone has a great day... Carolyn keep us updated on the flood waters...

Don't mean to be bossy, but since you have have the freedom to leave whenever you want I would encourage you to stay off the road on Memorial Day and go the next day...so many alcohol related accidents on these big weekends...especially the last day when they are driving home from a weekend of excess....besides, the traffic will be far less the day after....just my opinion.

Laura, when I was in school my mother used to get upset because I would come home and say " but the teacher says". Teachers ruled in my time.

Yes, Patty, things have changed. I understand about the frustration with the parents and attitudes toward teachers. All of my students are here because they have been in violent situations or caught using drugs on school property. Yet to talk to their parents you would think it was all just a misunderstanding. If I had talked to my teachers the way some of my students do (even the ones when I taught at regular high school) my mother would have slapped my lips off my face. The world is different.

By the way, I agree with staying off the road on Memorial Day weekend. Seeker is loaned out to my son in law this weekend. He is showing some of his labs at a show about 30 miles from here and usually drives to my house every night to save on a hotel room (not to mention it's hard to find a place that wants his truck parked outside with 5 or 6 dogs inside). This year I just took Seeker down to the private grounds where the trials are and set up for him. I'll go back on Sunday and bring Seeker home, but that gives me a chance to work around the hedges and beds where I usually park the rv with a lot more room. I hope he knows he's probably the only person I would do that for. But once I bring Seeker home on Sunday she will stay put until after June 2.

Good Morning
We have lots of sunshine today and climbing temps. So good to see the sun again. Enjoyed your early am photo too, Liz. Hard to imagine others still dealing with snow.

I actually accomplished a few things past couple of days; house mostly dusted and vacuumed, clean sheets on bed, washing caught up - nothing exciting but at least it is progress. Worked on restocking all the perishable food I lost during week long power outage; an expensive undertaking and I have not put anything back in freezer yet.

Even tried a class for improving balance and flexibility. Doctor had suggested I go to an exercise class for arthritis but it is only offered very early morning so I opted for next best thing with early afternoon time. Most of it was fairly easy. One thing I could not do was stand on one foot, close eyes and slowly move head without swaying. Can any of you do that?

Soos: I also vote for not being on the road during a long holiday weekend.

Hope all of you have something fun planned for this weekend. I need to find something like that to add to my list.

Brought my DH to his physical therapy session and am back home. I need to go to Wal-Mart but not enough time while he's at PT and it's too hot to leave him in the van. He has started walking without his walker. I don't know if he should yet but he is. When I broke my shoulder and had to do therapy he preached to me all the time about what I should be doing. Now it's a different story when he doesn't want to do what they tell him.

I agree about not traveling on a holiday. I think about that more now and if you have trouble everything is closed. If I am going somewhere for a holiday weekend I try to leave early and come back later.

I drove the Skyline Drive and part of the Blue Ridge Parkway coming back from New Jersey last year. I wanted to stay on it until I got to Asheville but by the time I got to Roanoke I had enough. I actually had enough before that but the 2 places I thought about cutting over to I-81 had signs that warned not to travel on them with an RV. The road is up and down and up and down. You climb to the top and start down. When you start down you have to gear down to keep from riding the brakes but you can't tell if the road keeps going down or around the next bend you start up again. Not a good road for your transmission.

I think I stayed at the campground at Otter Creek. Which ever one I stayed at had a few Class A's so Nan shouldn't have a problem.

Just wanted to voice my opinion on Teachers.............don't know how you do it......So many kids today are beyond my understanding...Course I'm from a different generation obviously, but my Dad would have whooped the daylights out of me if I had been less than respectful to my teachers....Just makes you wonder where some of these kids are gonna end up.....and how many would be great teachers are going to choose a different profession cause they don't want to put up with the parents or their offspring delinquents...........

Sunny and 70 here in SoCal!

Liz, great photo! Roe looks ready to hit the trails!

Soos, so glad your daughter will be with you on your trip back "home"! Take your time and enjoy the scenery! (and I also agree to stay off the roads on Memorial Day! People are not in their best mood/condition on that day!)

Nan, glad to hear your tests came out good! Maybe you could try yoga! That is very good for flexibility, etc. and not too strenuous. Maybe you could find a yoga class for seniors around there.

Laura, if I had tomorrow off from work, I would hitch a ride with you up to the strawberry festival! Sounds like a lot of fun! Any plans for camping trips coming up? We need to get together one of these days!

Why do parents thing their kids are all so perfect these days? It sure doesn't teach kids to be responsible for their actions, when their parents keep defending, excusing, ignoring or denying their bad behavior! What will those kids be like as parents? Hate to even think about that!

OK, no response from the lady who was interested in my apartment. We offered to pay her deposit, no response. Weoffered to pay an additional $400 towards the first months rent, no response. Guess I will be here for the rest of the summer... I did post a new add on Craig's List today, so will see if I get any more responses from that one (with the discounts listed).

I will be working all weekend. I have next Tuesday and Wednesday off, so maybe I will take a day trip somewhere one of those days. I am kind of in a funk right now, so a short adventure might be a good thing for me.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Yeah, that's sometimes a problem for us big girls, Liz, but we manage, one way or another, to find somewhere to land.

Son put new batteries in my truck for me so I can drive it tomorrow up to Hesperia for the other family GTG. I'm staying with the kids in their toy hauler. Couldn't see driving Hope all the way up there for a couple of nites, plus all of them are leaving Sunday (going up this afternoon) and I won't drive the rv on a Sunday around here if I can possibly help it. To many people coming back from Vegas, the river, the deserts...the 15 and the 10 are really bad. They get up at 0-dark-thirty to come home and that works for me. I'll be home before the crowd gets on the road. The grandaughter is all excited, grandma is staying with them...already wanted to know if she could sleep with me. Naturally I said of course.

That's about all from here, hope everyone has a great w/e and stay safe.
