It is Wednesday, right?????

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

It is Wednesday, right?????

Postby Imthebeachgirl » Wed Jul 07, 2010 6:14 am

Good mornin all! oh, I think I need another cup of coffee...I have to work today and tomorrow and then I am "off" until Aug.something...4th I think....My week is so mixed up already, due to the holiday and not working yesterday. But I am here, at work, alone....covering the front office of an elementary school. Sad to say, we had some damage to our school over the holiday. Jerks broke through about a dozen windows in our building. We are in an "ok" neighborhood, I thought?????

Enjoy your day!

GOOD MORNING LAURIE AND ALL!

What a shame about your school break-in. It's always a shock to realize there are destructive people out there, even in supposedly 'nice' neighborhoods. Takes away your feeling of well-being, at least for a while. Here's what's in store for us up here in the mountains today:

Air quality Forecast for Base - Whiteface Mountain

Air quality: AQ Index: Pollutant:
Yesterday Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups OZONE
Yesterday Moderate PM2.5
Current Moderate OZONE
Current Moderate PM2.5
Wednesday Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups OZONE
Wednesday Moderate PM2.5

At 68 degrees this morning, it's beautiful out here right now. But the forecast is for temps higher than yesterday, and with very high ozone pollution, also. I'm going into the house until it gets too hot in there, as I can't ake another day in this isolation booth out here with the AC running! I can begin to scan some pictures in the house. Later, if it gets too hot inside the house, I'll head to the pond to get wet and stay naked----if we have any breeze at all later, that should work like AC, provided I don't do any hard work that would make me need more oxygen! Other than that, nothing planned for today----oh yes----pay some bills via online. I finished what was left of the mowing last night after the sun went down. There is always staining of my house to do, too, but not in this heat.

Hope, the bear cub, continues to do well with her radio collar on, and seems to be healthy. I am sure she is lonely and would love to have some playmates, or her mama back, but------things are as they are, which is better than being dead somewhere.

I am using a relatively long extension cord to my trailer, but it's all RV-type cord. I have my trailer one plugged into one other shorter one that is plugged into the 30 amp surge protector plugged into my wall. Any brown outs or power failures will shut everything down, with an appropriate delay to restart allowing the compressor in the AC to do whatever it needs to do to safely start again. All plugs seem to be comfortably cool. I am going ot run my Yamaha generator today on the porch to exercise it, and try to figure out if there is any way I can get it out to my truck without wrecking my back or exacerbating my hernia! I might try the suggestion of using my comealong! I also found some scrap boards at the sawmill on my walkabout last evening, some of which might be strong enough to use as a ramp to get the generator off the porch and then ramp it into the truck. With that available, I could make certain I could still have a cool haven should the power go out. There is no AC in my house.

Whatever you have planned for today, I do hope it will be something fun! Stop by and let us know what's up! I know that some of you are used to this heat, and probably think we easterners are babies about it! If the air pollution were not so dangerous, I wouldn't even mind the temperatures, especially since I can get wet in an icy cold spring-fed pond! I may have to put Molly in there with me and let her swim to shore as I have done in the past, as she won't go anywhere near any water no matter how hot it is. I have often wondered if someone tried to drown her before I rescued her.
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

good morning ladies
too bad about the school vandalism, probably kids, it usually is. We had some
kids go around starting fires here over the weekend, burned down an entire
apt building, and further down the block a carport and new car. The kids are
in jail and the courts are deciding if the parents are to be charged as this
happened in the wee hours around 4 am.
I hope the east part of the country gets some relief soon with the high temps.
Its certainly not a joking matter for people that are not used to the extremes.
Even in my area that is extreme all summer we get reports on the news all
the time of deaths due to the heat, where folks go hike up the mountain and
have to get rescue cause of the heat and these folks know better.
So, on that, I'm out in the yard this morning getting a few things done before
it gets too hot.
Enjoy your day and be safe.

That's a shame about the breakin, Laurie. Was anything stolen, or just vandalism? Soos, I'm wearing at least a long sleeve shirt or maybe a sweater @68 degrees-I'm definitely a FL gal  Woke up to low clouds, so will put off our kayaking and whale watching and hope that it lifts this afternoon. It is suppose to get warmer and clear by noon. Definitely have missed some info while internet deprived. Totally missed the info about Bikerchic. Sorry to hear. Glad to hear that Gilbert has been stopped in his tracks :D Hello to everyone. carold

Good morning all, it is 9:00 and I have the dogs fed and everyone has cleaned their bowls. I have dogs that aren't that interested in food except for Wnnie. I was worried about her this morning as she didn't get up with the rest of us and stayed in the bedroom on her little be with her duckie and of course her bell. It was so unusual the other dogs kept going in to check on her and I saw Andy give her a little kiss. I finally picked her up and moved her to her bed in the living room. She finally decided she would go out and seemed fine, helped me with my exercises and is following me around the house. Maybe she had a bad night and just wanted to sleep in...dogs we worry so about them.
Carol your weather sounds great and loved the pictures on your blog especially the Puffins. Soos and everyone else in the extreme heat hope it cools off soon, it's pretty hot here but rain is supposed to come in today, good thing our yard is crispy and looks like late August.

Good morning everyone! I'm sitting here with my bags & other stuff packed ready to go to the new condo. But my once-BF-now-bud called to say he has some oozing from his right eye so he is GOING TO THE OPTHAMOLOGIST this morning to make sure it isn't conjunctivitis. Like any doctor will take you in on a moment's notice.

At first, I was going to pick OBFNB up at 7 a.m. Then he said he had to drop the dog off at the boarding place and he'd see me at 8. Now?????

It's gonna be 103 degrees down there fercryinoutloud, and I wanted to get an early start. Sigh. Maybe I should tell him "another time," load up my CRV & go. How dare he be human!

Love the comment "how dare he be human" - doesn't stop the grumbling tho, eh? And sorry about the vandalism. Hope nothing too bad.

I'm in a Ford dealer. Yes, again. Monday was there for Jean's truck. Today Peaches and I brought my rv in - oil change and I've asked them to go over EVERYTHING - want to know that I'm covered. Hopefully they won't find a lot wrong :o But it's real comfortable in their waiting area. They make cookies (have chocolate chip and peanut butter - I've had a cc, and Peaches is working on the peanut butter - she'd have scarfed down the whole thing, but I'm doling it out to her.). They also have wifi and desks for computers and cappoccino which I don't drink. Anyway, they make it comfie. In another section they have more comfortable couches - but I'd rather sit over here with my computer. The desk has an enclosed area under and Peaches is happy as can be down there.

Hot here today. Watched the news for the upcoming weather last night. We're behind on rain - so what do I see - chances of rain on Friday - the day we move to the lake, then more chances every day for awhile after that. Go figure. Hopefully we'll get some rain, but also some nice periods every day to enjoy the lake and beach.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Think I've made it this morning, Good Morning Everyone,

I've been up for ages, but try to get through the morning rituals before getting on here. Maggie, wanted to stay outside a while this morning. While its still ok out, hot, but not as hot as it will be shortly, we did stay for awhile. My grass needs mowing, my vehicles need washing, :( Young man in my cabin will mow, just not soon enough for me. I would like to have it done two days ago :) He works in this heat all day though and quite heavy, so minds the heat very much, so I haven't pushed him. Says he plans to do it Thursday.

Yesterday, was taken up waiting for the well people to come. Holiday week end, I have very little water pressure,( always happens on a holiday doesn't it?) so had to call and get that fixed. Pump is submergeable and pipe bringing water up, had a nice hole in it. Seems this is the seconded time I have had this problem. Always happens , when I don't need it too. ( take that back, I never need it too) I read a book about the west and the wild mustangs, very good book, of course a little romance in there. As I have none in my life, like to at least read about it  :) So waiting and reading was my day yesterday. Such a thrilling life I live !!!. I am feeling good and starting to see all this stuff I would love to do or just get in the r.v. and gooooo. But you know what, I can't carry stuff out there, so can't go, what a bummer.

Beth, as you are so good about waitng at the Ford dealership, come take my car and get air fixed, Please !!! ;) :) Mine doesn't have wifi or couches though. Benches outside and drink machines and very uncomfortable chairs inside in the a/c. Guess that would be a "NO" huh?

Try to stay cool, and those traveling please stay safe,
Have a Great day everyone,
CArol

:D Carol, if I was closer, I'd be glad to - even with the uncomfortable waiting area. Unfortunately, it's a little too far to drive.

Good to see you this morning. Sorry about your well problems.

Morning,
Yep, Murphy's law. Kids get the sickest at 5pm when the Dr offices are closed, and house maintainance is needed on weekends and holidays! Hope you get that fixed asap..and the lawn mowed.
Speaking of which. I mowed mine yesterday, did the edging, too. Got a few new plants for my planters and put them out. Looks great! Our sub'd. hires out the pressure washing of the sidewalks (remember, we are in the pacific northwest so moss/mold grows everywhere!), so I stopped and asked them to do my driveway and sidewalk. Charged me 50.00 but it looks wonderful! I also hired the neighbor boy to dig out some box shrubs that were overtaking the side of my house. Completely covered my electric meter etc. I replanted the area with Mexican heather. Should be allot nicer and add some color.
I also got my lawn sprinkler system up and running. Geesh, just a few days of hot sun and things dry up fast! I ran that last night.
I tried to make reservations at an RV resort that's by the Columbia River but they are full up the rest of the week! They offer a swimming pool and so I was going to have my 2 GDs come stay with me so they could swim. Not gonna happen and next week the girls go away to Horse Camp.
Got my cup of coffee drank and will reserve the leftover for drinking iced later as the temps climb.
Janice, I'm excited you are moving into your new to you home today. Keep hydrated!
Have a wonderful day, everyone!
PS Soos, I picture the mosquitos ringing the dinner bell as you get out of the water!!

Good Morning Ladies, it will be hot here in Normal also... oppressive heat! but all we have to do is think of the cold cold winter we had...
How sad that some think it is ok to destroy others property... Oh Carol I know the feeling when we are not up to speed we see so much to do and everything seems to get on our nerves... soon this will be a memory...
Soos glad you take it easy in this heat... my granddaughter wants to go swimming and the pool does not open until noon... she is a fish for sure...
I think today will be another lazy day for us here...
Hope everyone has a safe day where ever you are and what ever you do...

Made it in here before noon! I have already been to the bank to open a savings account. I got my rent credit check yesterday from Uncle Sam ($625) and that is going towards my moving expenses. Will add to that each week now. Then went to my brother's house to set up my new tent. His cat, Kirby, came out to supervise. As I was unfolding the tent, and unfolding, and unfolding...I kept asking Kirby "what the hell was I thinking, huh??" More unfolding..."Tell me what was I thinking!!!" He just sat there (laughing at me) and batting at the tent poles! However, once I started setting it up, it was a piece of cake! It took me barely 20 minutes from taking it out of the box to full set-up! I was impressed! I sprayed the rain fly and the tent for waterproofing and am hoping it dries before the rain comes. It is really hot and muggy with not even a whisper of a breeze outside now. So it could take awhile to dry. We are supposed to get rain later on but so far nothing on the radar. I am going back there this evening for my dad's birthday party so will close it up for the night. It looks really nice and has tons of room inside! The whole roof is mesh and most of the front is mesh with one window in the back. 6 feet high so I can stand up and walk around. I put Kirby in there but he wasn't too impressed (didn't like the crunchy plastic floor).

Now I need to clean house here, do some laundry, pick up a cake later and head back to my brother's for the party. A full day to say the least! It is starting to cloud up so maybe it will feel a little cooler out. Glad I have AC inside tho!

Hope you all stay cool today!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Woo hooo - my rv Ford check-up made me very happy. I knew I needed new windshield wipers (I know I should be able to to that myself - I let them) and wanted the oil change. Asked for them to really check out everything - and was expecting to hear I needed something. Nope. Got a very good report back. Tires, engine, brakes, filters, hoses, spark plugs, exhaust system, steering etc etc - all good. So Peaches and I are back up on the mountain and I'm watching stupid tv like I'll never see a tv again - hahaha - because when we leave Fri, we won't have tv down at the lake. The lake more than makes up for it.

I didn't even put my slide back out. Just hooked up water and electric- and will be ready to leave Fri morning with a minimum of fuss. Then I intend to really get settled in at the lake - get out MY outside table and chairs etc - find someplace to put up the bird feeder - settle in.

Emailed my sis to see if she has a carpet cleaner with upholstery attachments. If so, I'm even happier - as when I get up there - will clean the chairs, sofa, ceiling, as well as the floor again. Really want to get rid of the water stains on the ceiling now that I hopefully have the leak completely gone.

I'm happy - Peaches is sleeping (it was a very tiring morning for her, you know) and life is good.
