Friday January 7

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday January 7

Morning All, chilly sunny day 29°and no additional snow. Ordered flower seeds for butterfly gardens. Winter sowing in milk juggles sounds easy enough, plant, sit outside until spring. Doesn’t matter how cold or even if it snows. I have a balcony so sheltered and jugs might need a little misting. #1 daughter and youngest granddaughter have grandiosity butterfly garden plans (wonder where they get that from) and will need many plants. Ask family to save jugs so I will plant many jugs and tuck them into many yards. Lol. Laundry and package yesterday casserole for the freezer are my chores for today. Be safe

Sheila, a thought for your Mother. I used several dusk to dawn night lights in my two story house to walk around at night without turning on lights.

It's a damp, dark day here with rain expected part of day. Curves and continuing dining area pick up, maybe get lights off tree and tree out. Get boxes ready to go back to garage. I love winter, but wish we got more cold. It was still 50° when I went to sleep last night. Need cold to kill hibernating bugs!
Have a good weekend everyone.

Afternoon all. We ended up with about 2”-3” of snow! Local weatherman was closer to the mark on this one! I haven’t been out yet ‘cause it’s all of 19 and wind blowing snow now all over the place! Maybe later….or maybe sooner! I keep thinking I really need to do something with it! For sure need to pull out my heavier coat and boots! Rascal is enjoying it! Glad one of us is! Question is if I snowblow or shovel! Or just sweep since it’s so light! Such decisions! Shirl, exciting that you’re thinking to spring and butterflies! Beth, thanks for the clarification! My mind is like a sieve sometimes! I was talking to my friend in Myrtle Beach the other day and they are experiencing wind and cooler temps too. Doubt they’ll be golfing again today! It’s weird weather all over the country. Our new norm I’m thinking! Guess I’ll head outside and see what I can do. As cold as it is I don’t know how long I’ll last! Hope you all have a good day and stay safe.

Sorry, no recipes from my end. Struggling because a hearing was set last November for the guy who was the leader of the gang who murdered my son, Joshua, in 1995. My daughter, ex, a good friend of my son’s and I have been preparing statements in an attempt to keep the judge from releasing the jerk on parole. In November, the judge delayed his decision to consider whether the crimes the guy and his gang committed AFTER murdering Joshua should keep him In prison. We were preparing for Monday’s hearing when we were informed this morning by the District Attorney that the guy’s lawyer has requested that he be released on bail. The DA has filed an opposition to his release and for a continuance to give more time for a response to some issues raised by the guy’s attorney. So here we sit on Friday, not knowing if the hearing will happen on Monday (which the DA thinks may go forward), will a continuance be granted, whether we will present our statements, whether he will be granted bail. Right now I’m waiting to find out if we will have a video call this afternoon with the DA and any other updates he may have for us. This nightmare will never end. We have to continue fighting for Joshua and it’s so frustrating how the law works (or doesn’t).

More snow here with icy rain and wind predicted. Think we are at 4', but looks like more with snow plow piles and people cleaning off cars.

The person that designed these apartments didn't have much of an eye for detail on several things. The latest is they didn't figure a way for the fire sprinkler system to not freeze! They are coming around to put holes in our walls for vents which they do not have and we are asked to keep temps at 70 - which is way too hot especially at night. Schools are closed again and mountain passes now closed until Sunday. I just look at this as a different type of adventure.

Sandi, so sorry you are facing this again. Hugs.

Be safe!

Good morning. Spent a little time in the kitchen, made some biscuits to go with my soup today. Already ate 2 of them with butter and jam....yum. Not much ambition to do anything else. Feeling better but still struggling with my nagging cough. Took my meds, sipping on some orange juice and that about sums up my life lately.

Sandi geez nothing like letting you know what the heck is going on. So sorry this keeps rearing it's ugly head. And YES our justice system is very broken.

Anita I love your attitude about an adventure LOL I cant believe they didnt think of the sprinklers freezing. That could do alot of damage if those pipes burst.

Another beautiful day in Florida with highs in mid-70s! Found out yesterday that cause of rear TV flickering is the splitter box. This is not your typical splitter which is small and might cost $5. It is a control box the size of a satellite receiver that splits the signals to my three TVs, and yes I really do not need three TVs, but this rig is technically a bunkhouse, and there is an extra TV in the hallway, across from the bunks. Except these are bunks that convert to a two-person dinette, and since I had my front dinette removed for my recliner, I keep this one in the dinette configuration because I store stuff under the two seats, and it is handy for things like rolling out pie dough and cookies. Anyway, cost at CW would have been $150, but they did not order one, so I ordered one for $99 from Amazon. I think I can hook it up myself.

Also, older son and his family should be on a plane today headed to CA. Younger son sent me message this morning that his middle child, a girl, has tested positive for COVID twice. He was really glad I bought them five full double test kits and three other single kits! Everyone got a test and all tested negative, except his wife is having a sore throat and tiredness this afternoon, so others may have it as well. He said he was really thankful I had ordered all the test kits I gave him, and I told him he needed to order more test kits ASAP!! They started school on Tuesday, so may have caught it there or at restaurant they went to before I got there, etc. Luckily, I spent very little time with kids last day I was there (Tuesday). (Because I was on soft food, I did not even eat with them the last two days.) And everyone was fully vaccinated and boosted. Frankly, if I get it, it will likely be from the airplanes.

Anyway, I had reserved two sets for myself, and just took one test and was negative. However, I will repeat in two days, just to be sure. I am feeling tired, and my sinus above where my tooth was and where they put bone in via surgery on Monday is still aching, but I think this is all due to dental surgery I had. Dentist found a hole into sinus that he tried to repair, so i am not allowed to use a straw or suck on anything. He shoved in stitches and a bunch of superglue, as well, so I keep spitting out bits of that!!! The whole thing took 1.5 hours, and he said he had to do a lot more stuff than usual. At least, I no longer look like a one-sided chipmunk since swelling has gone down considerably.

FYI, Tests are still available on Amazon or Walgreens online, though Amazon had a 3-4 week delivery time. I ordered a couple more sets for myself from Walgreens because they are supposed to be ready for pickup at a store on Monday. Some places are trying to rip people off, so know that single tests should cost about $10 and double ones should cost below $25!! Having a couple of test kits really made me feel better knowing I could test myself, even if they are not 100% accurate.

Karen , have you tried the NAC which I recommended ? N-Acetyl Cysteine - used in other forms by RTs. I used to get it on Amazon but now it seems to be only on Walmart.com. In 2016, it was like a miracle how it quieted my bronchitis cough so I could sleep.

Good afternoon!

Spent a good portion of the day at Urgent Care today. I have a UTI. I usually go online to Virtuwell but they are extremely backed up and said the doctor wouldn't be able to get to my request for at least another day! So I went to a local Urgent Care. When I called this morning, they had an hour wait. By the time I got there, it was a 3 hour wait! Glad I brought a book with me to read! Once I finally got brought to a room, I waited there another hour. The doctor who finally came in was very nice and thorough. Yep, the urine test showed much blood and infection so he gave me a prescription that I am still waiting for WM to fill and call me on. Came home and have been laying down. I have a slight fever and a headache so am not feeling great. I already took my last AZO pill for the pain when I got home. Just made some cheesy broccoli soup which was good. Campbells...never tried that before.

So, like they say, "life is what happens when you make other plans". Didn't get to putting away Christmas stuff or anything else on my list today. But I am almost done reading my book!

I love winter, but wish we got more cold.
, said no one ever! Except for Velda!! :o

Sandi, so sorry you have to keep dealing with this nightmare. Whatever happens, hopefully Karma will get him sooner than later!

I work for the next 3 days and then 4 days off. Hopefully, I can finally get stuff done then!

Unfortunately, I am an expert at kidney stones and UTIs. Make sure you drink a lot of water to flush things out. Also, if it does not go away with antibiotics, make sure they do a cat scan or ultrasound to make sure you do not have a kidney stone, as that also causes blood in urine and pain, as well as an infection.

My ex-husband always accused me of exaggerating my descriptions of pain with UTIs. I was thrilled one day when he actually got one of his own and did a lot of complaining about how much it hurt!!!

Judy, I paid $14 for a double pack test from Sam's Club. They are currently out of stock. But it's what I gauge the pricing on.

My sinuses are acting up again, but not as bad as in the desert. I'm breathing better, too, but I want both even better if possible. It'll be interesting to see what happens when I go back to Utah.

A couple weeks ago a puppy was dumped outside our park. We kept her a few days hoping someone here would adopt her. Unfortunately she went to a shelter but I'm sure she'll be adopted easily. Today a young dog showed up, I'm sure dumped again. He's a sweet boy and is following all of us around. Both these dogs will be big and I'm just not able to do the training or handle the sizes I believe they'll be. They've also both been obviously well cared for before being dumped. I just can't understand people.

Glad to hear the prices are going down. I just paid $17 for a double kit, which is not bad. I decided that I really need a couple of extra ones to keep around. It was really mind-relieving to take the test today and find it being negative. My son texted me around 9 am, and I did some cleaning and ran out to get gas and dump my tanks, just in case. I worried about being positive the whole time I was cleaning and running for gas and such, but I did not take the test until I got back. Was really glad to see it was negative. Will do another one on Sunday, which will be 48 hours later.

I just wish we could get back to normal so we would not have to worry about every headache or sore throat, etc. Hate the stress.

It's always something!

I went to pick up my prescription tonight at WM. First she tells me that my insurance is no longer valid. Apparently I was dropped on January 1st and am now on Medi-Cal. I have gotten no notice from either one about that change. I have no new insurance card, no member number, nothing. So now I have to call someone on Tuesday and get that figured out. That happened to me also when Covid first started two years ago. My medical and dental were changed on me without any notice or information. That was a nightmare to get straightened out!

Then she tells me that the one side-effect of this med is diarrhea! That is probably the cause of this ITU from when I had that last Sunday! I can't take this now until Tuesday. I can't be in the middle of a haircut and suddenly have to run for the bathroom. :o And the worst part of that is there is no bathroom inside our shop. We have to use the public WM bathroom which is on the other side of the store from us. They do not clean these bathrooms. They are totally disgusting! The ones in the back of the store are better, but there is no way I could possibly run all the way back there in time! And when I get diarrhea, the pain from the cramps make me throw up, and sometimes even pass out.
So I just can't take that chance while at work. I am going to see if I can switch Monday with Friday with one of my coworkers so I can start the meds on Sunday after work. I will still have 4 days off to take them. The prescription is only for 5 days and by Thursday I will know for sure if I am getting any unpleasant side effects.

I really didn't need this right now. :(
