Monday is back!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday is back!

Postby Bethers » Mon Nov 22, 2021 9:45 am

I closed coffee last night and will open it this morning. Unless I don't like the county park, I will stay there tonight. Cloudy today. Rain here was overnight but my final destination is getting it this morning. So I'll avoid driving in it, hopefully. I lied when I said I wouldn't go shopping this week. Still intend to avoid groceries but I forgot that when dumping the handle broke on the black tank. So I'll head to an RV store to replace that. I'll probably purchase one for both tanks while at it. Had to do this on my last rig also. Or maybe if I can open it, I'll order them on Amazon.

Temp has gone from 60 to 64 here since I got up. It finally got nice last night and I slept like a baby.

Hi Beth & all who follow,
Just dropping in to say Hi before my little guy gets here.

My DD has been here since mid-Oct so we've had a lot of family gatherings so my standard schedule (of not doing much  ) has been totally off. She leaves this coming Sunday so I'll have a couple of weeks to rest up & prepare for my trip to visit her in France.

We had a birthday party for my little guy yesterday. He turns 2 on Thanksgiving day & will start preschool 3-days a week next Monday. We're on the list for a full-time opening but we're lucky that he got this spot. We know it's going to be a little bit of a shock for him. He's not as social as his sister was. :( It's time though & I'm ready for a little break & he will eventually enjoy the additional toys & experiences of preschool.

My DS just bought a new RV (see separate post in General) so we'll be spending time getting to know it this weekend. They are going to love it! Oh, the places they'll go!

Hope you each have a nice Thanksgiving!
Take care,
Catherine

We had some rain come through last night and it got down to 61 and it's still 61. I woke up with a headache. It's been a while since I had one that needed an ice pack and I though I might throw up. The wind felt good when I went out to the camper to get the thermometer. I didn't have a temperature and feeling better after my coffee. Every time I feel bad I'm afraid I might have Covid. Since there are so many people traveling this year I think I'll just stay home.

There was a new cat that came to eat this morning. I didn't get a good look at it but looks like a young cat. Zero ran it under the storage building. Just what I need, another cat.

Beth hope you find a place for tonight. It's been a long time since I've been to South Texas.

I need to get dressed and go deliver my dessert of the month. I'll be glad to get that over with. If the number of members in our club hadn't fallen so much I would give up my month.

Good morning, 32 chilly degrees and foggy here this morning. My plan is to now get dressed and get my butt to the store before it gets busy. Passed the grocery stores yesterday and parking lots were packed. I only need a few things so will run in and run out hopefully.

The last couple weeks I am getting continued SPAM calls from the same 3 area codes but always a different number. I block them but still have to listen to the ring unless I am right there to hit the ignore button. So damn annoying. So I was venting and someone told me to put it on Do Not Disturb. Well who knew I could do that and it would work. No more ringing but I can see it on the screen and feel it on my watch if I am here but silence is definitely golden. And the best part is I just enable access to my contacts so I dont miss any of my friends. Off for a quick shower and hit the store and gas station.

Resting up today from a long four day of dog showing in Columbus. It was our regional specialty on Saturday with supported entries the other three days so Jane was running with the big time girls and some of the professional handlers. We did get any bling but no one said that we didn't look like we belonged out there. The Best of Breed winner each day was a bitch that has been #1 English Cocker in the country for 2 or three years now. That does't leave much room for a young Jane to land... But we all had fun spending time with friends and having a couple of puppy evaluation parties. Three different sets of puppies showed up and everyone was encouraged to go over them and give honest feedback on what they saw and felt with their hands. For serious breeders who know that they can't keep everything, and have long lists of pet homes just waiting for them to make up their minds, the input either reassures the breeder of what they are already seeing in a potential show pup or gives them a little nudge that breaks through any "Kennel Blindness" they may have to see a difference in body structure or movement or overall temperament that might make one pup harder to finish than another. When the overall effort of breeders is to breed and raise the healthiest, best representative of the breed with a wonderful temperament, at the end of the day placing a wonderful quality breed pup into a loving pet home where they can be a loved companion animal is as goo as any ribbon ribbon.

Jane did do better the weekend before at the United Kennel Club show, which do not allow professional handlers. She earned two Group 1 Gun Dog placements and now only lacks one leg for her UKC Grand Champion title.

Lark and Audrey had the last month off but now need to get back to the aisles of Lowes and Rural King to practice for their next performance trials coming up the beginning of December. I know it sounds as if all I am doing is dog stuff but that is partly because I only have so much energy and stamina and given a choice that is where I choose to spend it. The rest of the time I am running errands, grooming dogs, training here and there, reading and napping!

Hope everyone has a good holiday. With traffic being projected to be so heavy, I am not planning to head to either my son's or my daughter's and will spend a quiet day here......probably reading. I did sign up for a trial subscription of Apple TV a week age but I haven't felt a need to check it out yet. A lazy Thursday afternoon might be a good time to check it out.

Just turned afternoon. Not sure where morning went! Karen, thanks for the hint about do not disturb feature! I’ve been getting more spam calls on my phone too so set it up a bit ago. Catherine, sounds like your kids will have a lot of fun times in their new RV! And Beth, hope the park is a good place to lay your head! We are having cold temps and rain (so far). Considering the time of the year I’m not sure why I’m surprised! I’ve been on the hunt for mincemeat to make a pie or filled cookies but isn’t easy to find. Finally looked again yesterday and found that WM had it and the brand I’ve always used. Went by the location listed on their webpage but found that it took me all the way across the store away from the grocery section! Got my steps in but finally found it in the center isle with other holiday baking items. So happy to have found it! I’m the only one in the family that likes it so will probably make cookies so I can freeze them and take out one or two when I want one. I did find it on Amazon but the cost was about 3 times what I paid. Talk about profit margin!
If we can get a day without rain I may be able to chase leaves again. Maybe! I think the trees have pretty much lost their leaves so what I get up now won’t have to be repeated. Again maybe. I discovered that I got another mouse in my trap last night. I put Irish Spring soap around but see where it or they left teeth marks on it. Question is, do they like it or do they eat it and go away to meet their end? We don’t have the cats around like we used too or at least I haven’t seen any signs of them so that could be part of the problem. This was the third one in my trap so a couple more then what I usually trap. So far none in my RV so grateful for small favors. I need to get to some housework so guess it’s time! Hope you all have a great day. Tina, you snuck in! Congrats on pup’s wins. So glad to see you showing again.

It has been a sad week here. My son has been diagnosed with colon cancer. It has spread to his liver. We drove up to visit him yesterday. He looks so sick. He lives about 200 miles from us. Lyn

Oh Lyn I am so sorry to read this. Cancer is such a vicious disease and can manifest in so many different ways. Prayers and thoughts for your son and family.

Survived the grocery store, got there at 8:30 and it was already kind of busy. And when I left 20 minutes later it was way worse so glad I got my butt in gear and finished. I didn't need much but there was a ham there calling to me and it was a pork butt and fairly small size and price was $11. I will cook it and then slice and dice it up for scalloped potatoes, ham and cheese omelets, sandwiches, casseroles, quiche....my list is endless LOL THEN with the bone I will make split pea soup. I really like homemade split pea soup. And winter is coming.

Back to cleaning the house as I just had breakfast as I didn't want to take time to do that before I went shopping. Now I can just snuggle inside until after the Thanksgiving week is over. Might put up my Christmas lights when it is not raining....we shall see. Just doing the large front porch. Bought a large jingle bell wreath at the thrift store so will put that up in front also. I have a couple of tubs of Christmas ornaments that I will just need to choose what to put out this year. Then also have a small fiber optic Christmas tree that I have had for a very long time. I am not getting a poinsettia this year as I have 2 "Christmas Cacti" that are in full bloom, sill things dont know it isnt Christmas yet.

I have had 8 spam calls already this morning BUT I only felt them vibrate my wrist watch so I didnt have to do anything, I am pretty darn happy.

Oh Lyn...what sad news. You and the family will be in my prayers.

On a good note, Brenda came today and we scouted out about a half dozen campgrounds hoping she can move closer to us than where she is now. Wow, campground site prices have sky rocketed since the pandemic started.

Lyn, I'm so sorry!

Irmi, I'm glad you and Brenda are having fun. I hope she can find an affordable park near you. I tried to get her to come to Texas where I am. At that time she was still planning on Arizona again.

My dermatologists office called and the removed thing on my leg is precancerous. They want me to apply a lotion on the area. But when I said I think it's infected the lotion became a no no until I find a clinic/doctor to check it out and get that taken care of first. So I'll make some calls after I arrive at my park tomorrow. Probably won't see anyone this week, with the holiday. But I'll call right away to get the ball rolling. Luckily if/when I can apply the lotion, it's the same as what was prescribed for my nose and other areas on my face, so no further expense there.

Karen, I love split pea soup. I think I'll have to be making dinner soon.

Sorry to hear about your son, Lyn. Hopefully, he can get some good treatment for it.

I was going to drive down to Ft Pickens today, but last night realized it would be a 1.5 hour drive each way, so dumped that idea. I had to pick up some prescriptions, so did that and then went shopping. Got some suggestions for my California grandkids, and I also started thinking about putting together some stockings for each kid, so started on that. Walmart's had some $1 stockings, so I got five and also picked up holiday slipper socks for the three girls and two-packs of holiday socks for the two boys. Cannot get too Christmasy for the boys or they will never wear them, being teenagers these days, so these are more subtle with tiny reindeer on one and pine trees on the other.

Also got some small candy things and some small packets of Cheetos and nuts for each stocking. Then on to Hobby Lobby and picked up some oil paint ink pens to put their names on them, plus some little half-price wreaths and reindeer to glue on each. Then found little half-price Father Christmas statues, so got five of those. Spent way more money than i planned, but that's the way it usually goes!! Also as gift for Christmas got a hat and gloves for California girl at Target, but very poor selection of boys hats and gloves. Maybe will stop at Tractor Supply?? The 14 and 16 year olds, being from California, have fairly warm jackets, but no hats or gloves for winter at all. California son and family are flying into Cleveland to spend a few days with his brother right after Christmas, and then going on to Washington DC for a few days. They had planned a big trip on spring vacation 2020, but COVID got in the way, and they had to cancel plane tickets. Now they have to use tickets or lose a lot of money, so are doing a winter DC trip and stopping at my younger son's house, so will be able to send stockings there or take them with me when I go. I'll go two days before they leave and then stay another four days to get tooth implant worked on and a mammogram. Will leave RV in airport oversized vehicle parking lot so it will be safe.

Talked to an old friend from Michigan last night, and found out she had had COVID in early Sept, even though she was fully vaccinated, lives alone, and is retired so does not go to a job. She had spent a weekend with another friend and her elderly mother. All were vaccinated, but they went out for dinner one night and elderly mother came down with COVID and had to be hospitalized. The daughter and my friend got it a couple of days later. She said it started with a cough, but then she had a headache that felt like she had a brain tumor--worse headache in her life. Took a few days to recover, and she is fine now, but has been more tired than usual. She is waiting until doctor says she can get booster. Anyway, it is scary when someone who is double vaccinated gets so sick.

No walking today other than stores, but tomorrow will go for a longer walk after I start decorating the stockings. Going to try to walk every day.

I know a few nurse friends that have had both vaccine shots and a booster and got Covid but fairly mild cases. The issue is that none of the available vaccines are “sterilizing” vaccines in the way a polio or smallpox vaccine is. When you have the polio vaccine, you cannot contract polio, nor pass it on. Covid vaccines aren’t sterilizing vaccines.
What they do is almost entirely prevent serious illness and death in the vaccinated. They do not prevent transmission of the virus, which is why masking and social distancing measures are still important.
These vaccines essentially take Covid from being a healthcare-system-destroying plague to a bad flu season, which is more manageable for hospitals and less deadly for patients. I keep my bubble pretty small and I always wear my N95 mask when in the stores. Other than that I dont go anywhere.

I was busy again today and my Fitbit said I had over 10,000 steps or 4.5 miles............that is alot for me in a day. My target is 6500 steps daily. Some days I dont even come close, others I am an overachiever LOL

Beth hope it isnt infected, get some triple antibiotic cream when you go to the store, it will do until you get an appt.

Lyn, I am so sorry to hear about your son's diagnosis. Hope he can get the right treatment he needs to recover. Sending healing light to him, you and the rest of the family.

Judy, I think I miss my Christmas stockings that my mom made me, the most. Loved opening up all the little things she had collected over the year for me.

Beth, take care of that spot as soon as you can if it is infected! Can you go to an Urgent Care?

Karen, you can send some of that split pea soup down to me! Love pea soup!!

Martha, what's one more cat!

Was a long tiring day. Lots of stuff going on at work. Old owners, new owners, people coming in to plan the new remodel, etc. Kind of hectic. Had a new girl start working today. The receptionist who quit last week, is now back to work. With my ADD, I get stressed with so much activity going on around me. I did put my headphones on playing music from my phone for awhile. My back got really sore later in the day.

I went after work to do a haircut for a guy in the park. I was so tired and didn't really want to go. Turns out it was actually scheduled for tomorrow, not today! I did it anyways since I was there and he wasn't busy. At work, we each were given a joint by the boss for our own personal pleasure :D , so I gave it to the guy's daughter. She is the one I went to Oak Glen with last weekend and I know she smokes pot.

I need to get my heating pad out and lay on that for awhile. I took my new one to work with me but the cord isn't long enough to reach where I sit so will have to bring an extension cord to work tomorrow.

So now I am relaxing with Lola. She just took a big stinky dump  so I sprayed air freshener all over. Now the propane alarm is going off.

I have a funny story about mincemeat pie...

My dad once had a secretary who wanted to make it for the holidays. She asked my dad what mincemeat was and where to get it. He told her that it was made with little minces, that were like mice but smaller. He said she needed to go to the butcher shop to get the mince meat to put in the pie! She believed him, and the next week told him she asked a butcher for mince meat and found out my dad was full of BS! Lol! My dad always loved to tell that story!
