Morning All, Spend my days looking for some distraction from the daily news. Found this video and thought I would pass it on. At least I hope I have. Would like to sit around a campfire with this woman. Read about vertical farming , that was interesting too. :D Be safe

Good smoky morning. We have hazardous air as usual from the smoke. Still fires everywhere in our state. They still wont let us in our area to see the damage (we know it is just a pile of ashes) but I would like to see it for myself. Probably another week or so. Still in the hotel until Friday then get to move to the Homewood Suites.

Laura came down a brought me a Keurig and Air fryer from her Mom. Will be so nice to have in the kitchen at the suites. She brought me an Echo Dot so I will also have Alexa back in my life LOL I miss that gal. Her sister gave me some clothes. Her Mom sent a couple toys for Emma. Emma is doing well and is kind of settled in now. She has tackled the elevator and 3 flights of steps. I am on the 3rd floor. It sure has been nice to have Laura here. Love my BFF. She took off work to come down here to be with me, I appreciate her so much.

I cannot believe the outpouring of love and support from you all. I knew we were all friends but so many of you have gone above and beyond. It touches my heart and I cannot thank you enough. I know some of you in person but some of us have never met and yet you are still very much a part of my life. Thanks again.

Not much more to update yet. Just hanging out in the hotel until Friday then will able to be more settled for quite a while I guess. Insurance is working with me and will house me up to 12 months and they are also looking for a rental house for me (dont know about that with the availability) Over 600 homes in just my little town destroyed so who knows. But at the Suites I have a living room, bedroom, and kitchen so that will help.

thanks again everyone, you are all so special to me.
Karen

Karen, so glad for your post. You have been in my thoughts, stuck in one room and eating out. You normally eat healthy and I felt bad you did not have access to a kitchen. The suites sounds so much better. One day at a time. Be safe

As Shirlv said, thanks for for checking in.....stay strong when you need to....cry when you need to. We all be thinking of you.

Just got back from a quick check up on my new to me Roadtrek. The propane system is all good and safe to go down the road and be functional. The hitch has been checked out, up graded and works. The small TV is being put in and the water and sewer systems are being checked out. There will be a learning curve for me as some of the systems have certain quirks but after reading posts on some of the FB groups for older Roadtreks that owners of new to them Roadtreks post, my learning curve is clearly farther along than those individuals that state, "This is our/my first RV," and how do I do XYZ?

Mechanic is hoping to have his basic repairs completed by the end of the week baring OMG findings. I am hopeful that it will be available for a couple of the October Dog Shows coming up. I really don't want to do a tent.....or a motel.

I am also hopeful that he will be able to complete some of my wished for upgrades....as in adding Solar Panels, etc., but one step at a time.

Jane enjoyed her first inside fairground buildings dog show (all grooming was outside under pop ups.) Since I was an associate member of this particular club I couldn't show her but she seemed to get more comfortable with the ring procedure and with being inside with each opportunity to go in the ring. She also transitioned to responding comfortably to new to her people, which is a wonderful skill for any show dog.

Now off to Kroger's to replenish the food choices and supplies around here.

Sorry, here I am again. My mind is going in twenty different directions. Martha, keeping an eye on Sally and hoping she gives you wide berth. Irmi, will you be settled in Florida and out of Sally’s path? First case of virus reported in this apartment complex so will continue with my precautions. I look like the poor soul leaving and entering the building, hat, mask, sunglasses and cobweb hair. I never meet anyone in the stairwell so that is a good thing. Today have several errands so time to gear up.

Martha, please let us know where Sally is landing compared to you. I think she's going to be west of you, but I don't remember which direction gives you the surges.

Karen, only a few days and you'll have more space. And already an air fryer and Alexa... I've never started with Alexa, but I'd be lost without my air fryer. And we are family here, always will be.

Hello Everybody, I’m a little late for morning coffee, but I enjoy an afternoon tea. Karen, so good to hear that you are doing okay and have a place to live for at least 12 months. If you stay in a hotel you won’t have to vacuum or wash your sheets and towels!
Martha, we now have to keep an eye on you and Sally. This is getting to be a full time job. Please stay safe.

And I have a new Scam Alert. I rec’d an official looking letter from the IRS wanting me to confirm my identify by either logging on to website or calling a toll free number. The letter wasn’t signed and I happened to receive two of the letters on the same day. Has anybody else received a letter. It looks very official but it definitely isn’t. Beware.

With all of the problems it’s still a beautiful day, so enjoy it. Peggy

Good afternoon!

Karen, thank you for checking in. I know Laura's visit had to be a great morale booster. I just can't imagine the number of people who lost their homes in all the fire areas. A late friend's daughter evacuated early in the Eugene area - so far, so good. My daughter works for the school district and says people are donating furniture which the district will store until people north of us are ready for it. That will probably be awhile.

Also watching Sally and keeping good thoughts for you, Martha! Slingshot couple had their home damaged in Lake Charles on the last go around. They had it built to withstand 170 mph winds so it's still standing.

Peggy, the scams just keep coming! Mine have all been e-mails so far.

We are on a second day of heavy smoke - can't see the hills. Waiting to hear from a friend who planned to come from Western Washington on Wednesday for a couple days.

Make the best of your day!

Karen, I know you will be glad to move to the suite and have a kitchen. I think I could survive with my air fryer, microwave and keurig. Your insurance is a lot better than what we had. We had to depend on friends with pool houses. What does Alexa do? I might need someone to talk to. lol Yesterday I was talking to the neighbors cow. When they evacuated the cows for Laura one cow got left. I never did hear why but maybe they couldn't catcher her. She survived the storm and is in 100 acres by herself.

For the last two or three updates on Sally it has moved to the East. Now it's suppose to come into Mississippi. I am still in the tidal surge warning area but I know from past storms that we will have a North wind pushing water out. We might not even get any rain. I'll keep watching the weather channel but so far so good. Anita, how much damage did your friends house get if it was built to withstand that much wind? I have seen pictures of camps that were built after Hurricane Rita that look like they had no damage. I'm not planning on building a house but if I was I would sure want to talk to those builders. Lake Charles looks like a bomb went off. I have friends in that area that still don't have power. My sister lives 60 miles North of Lake Charles and she just got power back Saturday.

Tina, hope you can get the Roadtrek on the road soon. Are you going to tow your car with it? I am still undecided about getting my CRV read to tow. I could bring so much more junk. lol My complaint with the Coach House is the lack of storage. I have also thought about getting a small trailer for the golf cart and put a storage box on the trailer.

One of the local TV stations has a story about the different scams often. They usually interview someone with the Better Business Bureau. It has gotten so that you can't trust anything. I have an MSN email and they seem to be pretty good at sending things to Junk. If I see something on Facebook I am interested in I don't click on the link I look it up on the internet. Most of the time if I am thinking about ordering something I look for reviews on it. If the reviews are bad I don't order it.

I am still trying to learn the new washing machine. If I put it on a normal cycle it only puts a half tub of water which is usually good for me. To get it to fill up I have to put it on Heavy Duty and then it wants to wash 70 minutes. I don't think my clothes are dirty enough to need that much washing.

I have a question for the nurses. My hands have been going to sleep a lot lately, the left one more than the right. Is that a symptom of something? I have only noticed this in the last couple of weeks.

Martha, I had my RV guy go over the hitch and the wiring so that I can tow. But....one of the nice parts of using a RT is it is small. Granted towing my already equipped little Honda Fit (which I love to drive) would give me more storage and be convenient to zip around sight seeing in, but I would still have the "You can not back up" message loop in the brain. A small trailer would give me the ability to perform back up maneuvers, a few extra feet of storage and maybe provide a place to haul a Hornbeck across the long miles. I do know that I suspect that my 10 year old Blue Ox bar should be replaced....it is definitely showing its age, miles and is weather worn. ....And I still own the rack that rode on the back of the 22 foot Gulfstream up to Alaska and back. It has been stored in the shed so isn't looking its age......

I suspect that I might make choices according to where I am going, how long I expect to be in an area, who I expect to see and what I expect to do. FYI: My Hornbeck went out to Q and back with me two years ago but only got in the water with Liz and friends in Florida on my way out.......

I like to travel with my Alexa. Because I have my own WIFI, I can run my Alexa and get any kind of music and/or news that I am in the mood for either traveling down the highway or sitting in place......

Martha, this is image of friend's house. It is on a little island along a canal. I have not been there. He and his wife are visiting elsewhere so someone else took the photo.

His description: Lots of siding blown off, the 2 central air units outside are no where to be found, roof collapsed partially in my shop, French doors on porch side of house blown in - lots of water damage from blown rain. Pilings may have twisted.

Disappointed my friend won't be coming Wednesday due to the smoke. Hopefully later. Just now got an extension on the air quality alert.

Anita, the image didn't come thru, at least not for me. I guess nothing is completely hurricane proof. Looks like Sally will be hitting the panhandle of Florida.

Was a slow day at work but the tips were great! Two $10 tips and a $20 tip, and the rest were $5 tips. I must be doing something right! :D

Got home from work and settled down on the couch to watch TV. After awhile, I noticed it was a little warm in there. The AC was off again. I checked the temp and it said 90 degrees! I can't believe I didn't notice how warm it was before then! I guess 90 feels OK to me after the horrid heat we have had. Anyways, I turned it back on and got it cooled off again. Tonight I discovered the bedroom one was turned off too. I sure hope the AC guy can figure out why they keep shutting off.

Karen, sometimes it is the little things that we most appreciate! So glad you will be getting a nicer pad soon!

Have a good night! :D

Interesting it didn’t come through because it showed in the preview and I am seeing it on here. Oh well.
