Ho hum Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Ho hum Wednesday

Morning All, I’m posting because Tina said I should. I do lurk every day because I am so bored. If you are too, here goes. Looks like Hurricane Laura is projected to exit through Maryland. I’m picking up a Walmart order today. Will clear the balcony closer to the weekend. I worry about Martha and her home.((hugs))). Trying to keep up with the latest news from our state election board. I have already request a mail in ballot and will return it using a local drop box. Found a new recipe, dump everything in dish and bake. My kind of cooking, not sure you even have to stir it. :D Concerned for those in California and fingers crossed for Barbies ac. Be safe

Good morning Shirley and Everybody else from a near perfect (cool and sunny) morning here in Hartford.
Martha, there were photos of cowboys moving cattle from the Louisiana coast in the New York Times this morning. I’m always amazed at the number of cattle grown in the south. Here’s praying that everybody moves to higher ground. Please let us know that you and those you love are okay. You’re our family, you know.

So much going on everywhere it can be overwhelming at times. Keep smiling behind your mask and keep washing your hands. Peggy

Avoiding getting back to arguing with the sewing machine so I went to Kroger's for some milk and supplies and decided to take up mending the pile of "stuffy" toys that have lost ears and were about to lose all their stuffings for the last year. ANd these are only the ones that made it to the "hospital". Several made it directly to the trash. Audrey, Lark and Jane will be excited to find a pile of toys on the office floor when they come in this afternoon. They are all equally labeled as toy de-stuffers. Audrey used to be the Queen but she is now sharing her title. The perpetrator/s seems to take turns depending upon some unspoken whim.

Stay safe, control what you can, move out of the way from what your can't........

Check back in when you can. Your unwanted excitement reminds us that "boring" ho hum days can also be a gift and something to be thankful for......

Am sitting here waiting for the maintenance guy to show up. He is not very reliable  .

Have been watching the weather channel and the hurricane situation looks grim. They just announced that Laura is now a cat 4. Storm surge will be up to 20 feet just west of where Martha is. I hope she is at her son's and safe there. I hope her cats will be OK too. The flooding will be really bad with this. They are saying the storm surge will be "unsurvivable".

Between the fires and the hurricane, I guess a little heat isn't worth complaining about. Speaking of heat, my AC is working good today so far. Finally got it back down to mid 70's in here. Lola has been hiding. I think she is worried she will have to go back in the carrier to the house with the curious barking dog!

Enjoy your day and stay safe where ever you are!

Hello, Ladies,

Taking Tina's words about lurkers and not posting to heart so just remembered she started it! :D Revisiting your Ireland blog, Tina along with Liz's. My trip was postponed this year.

Frequent checking of social media for word of friends in storm and fire vicinities. I believe Martha had her act together to evacuate. So many disturbing stories on the news.

Shirl, I still think of you when I see anything funny about wine!

Lyn, I'm happy your trailer sold. Hope you are revisiting your many great trips! I see memories pop up on FB and don't even remember visiting some of the places!

Judy, I know firsthand how great those new genealogy finds are! Years ago a cousin said we had found all the easy stuff, but now there is so much more available online. Yes, even Arizona can be cold. Had snow 35 miles east of Quartzsite one year.

Beth, I worried about you during the Sturgis rally! Some are now paying the price for that lunacy.

Catherine, looks like you will have quite the retirement schedule! :)

I've been in Cashmere, Washington for 3 1/2 months. My daughter's 2nd job opened back up and she worked more hours than usual. Today her first job started again. Time with her is now limited, but I'll take what I can get. My grandson recently returned from overseas, so will stay here until we are able to get together in October.

Finding an apartment in this area is just about impossible - especially in Leavenworth (a cute Bavarian village). I was set to bite the bullet on one that was 'available' only to find out it is still under construction! Tentative plans are that I will have to head south to somewhere - possibly Eastern Arizona or somewhere in New Mexico. Would like somewhere to be safe and have roads to ride.

It appears we are all staying safe so continue on! Finding a face shield to wear has been a big positive for me over wearing a mask.

Anita, can’t remember what you did or what you said but I thought I would like to meet her. :D So glad I did at Beths get together at Lake in Woods. Was a fun week. I always have two boxes of wine but never did drink that much. Well, there was a couple of gtg when I goosed stepped back to my camper. I’m trying to plan ahead for when I am old :? I really do not want to live with my children but want to be close. Since the pandemic certainly don’t want to go into a nursing home. Zoning here prohibits living in an Rv parked in children’s yard which would have been wonderful. At 90, I could sit in the drivers seat and make engine noise. Still thinking.

The maintenance guy finally showed up. He looked at the wooden valance and thinks he can yank it off the wall since we could only find two small screws. Looks like it is mostly glued on. He will come back to do that. He spent most of the time working on my oven. Since I bought it, whenever I tried to bake in it, there was a heavy smell of propane even after the pilot light lit. It was really bad and scared me so I never used it much after that. The stove works fine but just the oven was giving me problems. Turns out there are different valves for natural gas versus propane. The burners had the right valves in them but the oven wasn't switched out so was allowing way too much propane to come thru. I found a baggie with the stuff I saved when I bought the oven/stove and the right valve was in there so he switched them and now it seems to be working fine! Will be so nice to finally be able to use it, instead of my little toaster oven. I also told him my microwave wasn't working either and he played with a couple of buttons and now that works too! Yay! He only charged me $25 for all that.

Hurricane Laura is gonna be long remembered for her destruction. Doesn't look good at all for a large area of Louisiana and eastern Texas. I hope most people heeded the warnings and left already. Where Martha lives, they are saying up to a 15 ft storm surge. :o They are now saying it could turn into a category 5 before it makes landfall! Sending prayers for Martha, her family and pets, and all others in the path of this horrible storm!

I am at my son's in Lafayette. I hope the storm surge isn't worse than Rita. That was bad enough. I left the house cats in the house. Put food for outside cats up on the porch so hopefully they will stay there. I didn't lose any cats for Rita. So far the weather isn't bad here. I'll up date if I get any news.

Martha, I hope Lafayette is far enough north. Is your son's house high enough? I am assuming you have a Plan B if you have to evacuate even farther north.

Waiting until later this afternoon to call my son. He is teaching during the day. In Napa, teachers are at school in their classrooms, and kids are at home, but teachers have to be online for 35 minutes per day with each class, then kids have work to do and turn in. Son does a lot of teaching biology with labs and demonstrations, so he has had to adapt them so each kid does them, following instructions, and then writes up the results. District gives each kid laptop of iPad depending on grade, and they spent a lot of time this summer making sure each student had internet access. This was easier in the town than in the hills around the town where there was much less access.

Dumped my tanks and refilled fresh water this morning. Luckily, not too many people checking out today.

Karen, I don't think Emma has enough toys. You need to get her some more, or her feelings will be hurt.

Thank you for checking in Martha. Please stay in touch. Laura looks very scary. I'm not sure if Karen (retiredhappy) will be in l trouble in eastern Texas. I know she's a lurker so I hope she chimes in.

And those fires are still worrisome, too. Our air quality is bad so many states away!

Woohoo... A month from tomorrow I'll be closing the store for the season and being ready to do my final inventory, etc. I don't know yet where I'll land next summer, but just having options again is exciting.

HA HA you guys are funny. The hilarious part is she has another one with not as many toys tho. I end up picking up about half of them each morning as after breakfast she drags them out, one at a time, and I throw them for her and after a couple times, drops it, and gets a different one ha ha

Does she actually sleep in that "carrier" or whatever it is, or is it just a storage area for toys?
