wonderful Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

wonderful Wednesday

Postby asirimarco » Wed Nov 20, 2019 8:26 am

Good morning to all. We have delicious Mexican pastries and coffee this morning. Our journey is done for a few months. We got to Mazatlan yesterday around noon. Discovered the road had been somewhat repaired. For the tune of 69 dollars in tolls, it better be okay.
We are mostly settled in. But yesterday was 91 with high humidity. UGH. Today it is supposed to rain and cool off to low 80s hope so. All the construction is done surrounding the campground. looks strange to see home over a tall wall instead of jungle

After Bill took a nap we did our traditional going out for RIBS - our first meal in Mazatlan is Always RIBS
Image
After eating we took a quick ride around the city. Beautiful as always.

Don't know what we will do today. But will write about it in the blog later.

Good morning everyone.
The rain has arrived in Arizona. Started yesterday at 1pm. On and off expected until some time tomorrow. Highs only in the 60's today.
The shrub beside the rv that I thought was dead has revived. It even has some kind of fruit on it.
Joey now has a place to lift his leg! :o It doesn't take much to make him happy.
Not much planned for today, probably groceries and see if I can safely find one of those flash floods in a wash, although not sure it is raining enough.
Enjoy your day!!

Just checked the weather on the U. S. Government website - weather.gov. It says "light rain". Um. . . no. Not so much. Outside the sky is clear, no clouds, and the wind is blowing about 35mph.

I wonder what that is all about? Wishful thinking on the part of the government? Someone out at the airport turned a hose on the weather station out there?

Velda, you are a bit south of me. Did you get any rain where you are?

Aside from the "light rain" we are decidedly NOT having, there is no rain predicted for my area in the 7-day forecast. :(

Raining here in SE AZ, too. Well, not at the moment, but yesterday, overnight, probably later today and more tomorrow. Cooler air came with so no sundresses for now. Off for my bone density test shortly.

Yesterday I cooked... Two different meals in my electric pressure cooker. Those have been bagged and will be going in my freezer in single/double portions. I have two more I'll do during tomorrow's rains. I love having my own meals bagged up in the freezer. If I'll have any more room, I'll buy some chicken to do a chicken dish, also.

Being on the very southeast side of the Coachella valley, we got inundated with rain last night! It poured for a long time! The rest of the valley barely got anything. They are saying .08 at the Palm Springs airport. I think we got close to an inch here!

The sun was out this morning tho. Just decided to go for a walk, but about one minute into the walk, a cloud came by and started to sprinkle, then heavier rain. I cut thru the green space back to my house just before it started pouring! I was only out there for 5 minutes! The air is cool and smells wonderful from the rain! More rain on the way for the afternoon and evening as well. I believe northern CA will be getting missed from this storm. Mostly SoCal and Arizona getting hit with the heavy rain and lots of snow thru out the Rockies.

Oh, we also had a small earthquake last night. I didn't feel it tho.

The mountains are expected to get a lot of snow at the higher elevations so that will be pretty to see from here!

No plans for today, altho there is a lot on my list of things to be done. Just feeling lazy. It is early yet so maybe I will get bored and start organizing the porch.

Ann, glad you made it safely to your destination! Have fun and relax! Those buildings look much less attractive than the palm trees did. :(

So glad those of you that need rain are finally getting it.

It is dry and sunny in Ocala but woke up to 46 degrees and will get into the low 70's this afternoon. Tomorrow and the rest of the week it'll get into the mid to high 70's, which makes me happy.

This morning, we went Christmas shopping for a young girl that I don't know. We pick names and buy gifts for needy families. Last year, Brenda also participated with the name I had chosen. Wish she had been with me today to help me pick and choose. We bought a pair of pants and matching top, a stuffed animal and a Baby Alive. The gifts will go to church Sunday with the other contributions to be delivered to the families.

Pizza stuffed chicken breasts are for dinner.

Irmi, I did that last year at the park I was at. We got names of kids of military families in need and bought gifts for them. I was lucky to be able to go and deliver the gifts to the kids and watch them open them! So fun!

The weather station was showing street flooding in Phoenix. Glad California is getting rain, just hope that they don't have mud slides now. It's 80 and sunny here today. I was feeling pretty good until I went out to put the sheets on the beds in the RV. I have to wrestle the mattresses half way off the bed to get the sheets on.

Carol, your picture made me hungry for ribs, one of my favorite meals. I could eat on that much for several days. Hope your campground holds out and doesn't let them develop it.

Sunday I was digging in the freezer looking for some chicken to cook and found an unlabeled package. I couldn't tell what it was so took it out and defrosted it in the microwave. It was tamales, so I had tamales for breakfast. lol I put things in the freezer thinking I'll remember what it is. Uh, no I won't. I have been having a few mystery meals or throwing things away. Still have a lot to go through.

Martha, I'm blaming you. I planned fish and roasted potatoes and veggies for dinner. I didn't even know I had a few hash brown patties in the freezer. I am eating potatoes, potatoes and veggies for dinner. I even had tartar sauce on the plate while they cooked. It really doesn't go with hash browns lol

HA HA Beth and Martha you made me chuckle. I have been there and done that and now I label everything so I know what it is and I date it. Put a piece of tape on it and a sharpie pen for labeling easy peasy.

The sun came out for a bit today but it was still cold out 52°. So no working in the storage shed today. Made a pot roast (well the meat anyway) in my Instant Pot today. Put it in the fridge and will slice some of it up tomorrow and thicken the gravy. Will pop a potato and squash in the Instant Pot tomorrow for dinner and then freeze the rest of the meat and gravy. I have some chicken and stuffing in the freezer so I think I am all set for meals this week.

That's funny Beth. Tartar sauce doesn't sound good on hash browns. I put a pack of file labels in the junk drawer and try to label everything now.

I made a reservation for a campout in July. There are so many people camping now that some places book up fast. I liked it when I could travel without plans. July is not a good time in Louisiana, it's hot and a chance of a hurricane but we are going to the beach.

remembering my mom's freezer's it is such a good idea to label and date... last summer I threw out a lot of stuff and didn't even dent it. the fridge freezer we are doing better at labeling things but still not great...I'd like to see her do that to the things that go into the fridge but it won't happen... she gets meals on wheels 3 times a week but rarely eats it all doesn't take long for them to get stacked up.. about once a week I would go through asking her what she had for meals that week and toss out the rest... don't know who will do it now...
it's rained off and on for the past 24 hours very windy at times and now chilly enough so that I turned on the propane to the buddy will turn it on later.. instead of tuna sandwich I had soup wanted something hot probably will have hot chocolate later as well...
played games today didn't win but had fun...
tomorrow have a list a mile long to do will report back tomorrow night what on it gets done
would like to be able to leave on Sat morning for Vegas about 9:30 we will see.
that meal looks delirious although I still wonder how he ate the whole thing

I had hot cocoa this morning too. And while I was out shopping today, I stopped at Panera Bread for a cup of cheesy broccoli soup. Really hit the spot on a cold rainy day! :D

I ran errands today and then did some shopping. Bought some tomato plants and some strawberry plants and containers for them and for a small fairy garden, mini Japanese garden and water garden. I was looking for some small hibiscus plants but the only ones I found just had red blossoms. I want yellow, pink or peach. Will keep looking. Stopped at Hobby Lobby and picked up a few little things for the fairy and Japanese gardens. Stopped at Walmart for food for our Friendsgiving potluck (cole slaw and corn bread hot dish) and ended up buying a Christmas tree! :o It is an artificial 6 ft flocked tree for only $35. I couldn't pass that up! I already have all the stuff to put on it. I found my box of favorite X-mas ornaments I had stored in my dad's attic so will use those, mostly little woodsy things.

Tomorrow, if it isn't raining, I will repot my new plants. It rained off and on all day but not as much as yesterday. Any rain coming over the mountains to the west, mostly evaporates before it hits the ground here. The rain I got yesterday was the edge of a large storm moving along the mountains along the east side of the valley and we are right on the edge of those mountains so got quite a bit of that here. My area got almost 1 1/2 inches of rain so far which is a lot for being in the desert! Lots of snow in the mountains to the west and north too. The ski resorts are happy! Luckily the burn areas are doing well with no mud slides at this point. Just a few roads up there that were flooded over.

I also saw a vegetable stand that just opened at a farm (in the middle of town! Farmer is hanging on!) with fresh sweet corn so I stopped and picked up a few ears. I love fresh picked corn! I think they have two seasons out here for sweet corn.

Time to head off to bed...have a good night!

I could label Wednesday, this week as weird Wednesday! We learned yesterday that the filling that came out of sons tooth, was hiding decay behind it. It went clear to gum line, and because it was a very back tooth next to space where wisdom tooth had been removed, and because it was not properly lined up with the opposing tooth in the lower jaw below it, the Dr said, you can have a expensive, painful root canal and crown, but this tooth just isn't going to do well, so he recommended I call oral surgeon to extract it. Called, but no appointments until Dec24! Called another, they could do it next Monday . Today, at 06, I was awoken by a spam call, which after checking caller ID, I ignored and went back to sleep. Then woke around 08. Got up and ready for my day. Habitat for humanity came to dismantle and remove Mel's wheel chair ramp, all 100 ft including 3 platforms. I had my handyman here both supervising his crew in yard cleanup and working on last stages of my north deck. Around 10, when everyone began arriving, phone rings. Oral surgeon had a cancellation, could I get Chris there by 11:30? Yes, of course, so I let everyone know we were leaving. Lots of prep work and paperwork, and pano X-ray , which showed the filling falling out was a blessing! The tooth had infection eating up into a hole in his sinus, on verge of a nasty abscess! So at 2 he got his Nitrous and local and Dr extracted the tooth, cleaned abscess, packed it with dissolvable antibacterial stuff, sutured it, and we headed home. Stopped at store and got his antibiotics, anti inflammatory pills and pain pills plus a special rinse and some soft foods. Got home as handyman was leaving. Ramp is gone and I gotta say after about 18 mo of having the ramp there, and 14 mo of Mel gone, it was a weirdly emotional thing to stand in that space. Sean, my handyman, is already planning to restore fence and gate which were down for ramp. I even went to Curves! Been fetching drinks, ice packs, and pudding and other stuff all evening, and after 11:30 RX, patient tucked himself into bed and I can relax and sleep I hope.
We got a scant few drops of rain last night, nothing today, not enough to register on my gauge. Wind was only little more than a breeze.
Tomorrow if my patient is up to it, we will go fuel car at Costco, then pick up stuff on my list for thanksgiving. Got a nice shank ham today for 97 cents a lb, which I will bake for our thanksgiving then cut for next few meals plus freezer. Also put bone away for Chris's favorite split pea soup for christmas eve.
That's about it for us for today!
