Sunday, May 15

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunday, May 15

Greetings from the chilly 45th,

Actually, I have a light dusting of the white stuff on my deck this morning  Shortest summer I can ever remember. Think it was last week one day, but forgot which one

Nothing exciting to report here today. Just spending some time this weekend getting ready for tomorrow's inspection. Since I know what they check for the most part, I am doing same and making sure things are ready. Not worried about it, as I know my house is in good shape. I'm sure he will find something though.

So today I am heading for mass this morning, a stop at the store and then back home. Want to clean my kitchen and then probably get back on this thing and look at real estate a bit more. Probably should have my house on wheels back this week too :) along with the bill  Friends of mine are selling their beautiful 26ft. travel trailer due to health reasons. Boy, am i tempted, but. It's a Cirrius and the rear bathroom is to die for. All across the rear of the trailer. And tomorrow Miss Molly goes to the specialist again for a recheck of her eyes. Happy to say that the right eye is cleared up pretty much and the left one is starting to do same. I can see the normal almond coloring starting to take over again. So, hopefully we are out of the woods. Catherine, I'm with you. We need to do a working GTG at CArol's place and get her ready to sell so she can get back on the road while she can and be done with all the stress.

Hoping you all have a nice day today. Those in paths of bad weather, keep and eye and ear out. those on the road, be safe and enjoy your travels.

Well, it’s been a long week. It started May 6. I went to see Mom at home about 4:00. She was sleeping in her recliner and woke up enough to ask me what I was doing there. I stayed until a little after 5:00 thinking that she would wake up again. She didn’t so I went to my sister’s and was going to take her out for supper for her birthday. Just as we were walking out the door the phone rang and it was the home telling us that we should come in right away. Mom vitals were droppings. We hurried in and by the time we arrived the vitals were rising, but the nurse on duty told us that she thought from her experience that mom would pass within the next 24-36 hours. We would go home to sleep and get called back three more times and she would rally. Mom passed on Wednesday night…we had just left to go eat supper. Her wishes were to be cremated. The priest for our home parish serves three different parishes plus it is graduation weekend and he was a speaker at two baccalaureates and had another funeral and to top that off our organist had a doctors appointment on Monday, so scheduling a funeral was difficult. Prayer service is Monday night and funeral is Tuesday. Thursday Mary Ann and I were able to make all the tentative funeral arrangements and we went to the home to clean out her room. At the home we asked if there were any residents who didn’t really have family and most of her belongings were given to those residents. There is one little old lady, who is just a sweetheart, the RN told us that she has six children and not one of them sent her a Mother’s Day card or came to see her, so we decided to give her mom’s lift chair, comforter and TV. I came home early morning yesterday to meet with the florist (my friend is doing the arrangements) get clothes, a haircut and some things for the memory board and will leave around noon today to go back. I laid down to take a nap yesterday about 2:30 and didn’t wake up until after six…slept right through the alarm. We have to meet with the priest at 4:00.

So that pretty much wraps up my week.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Pat, sorry for the loss of your mother. It's not easy even if she lived a long life. I feel very sorry for the mother of the six adults who weren't grateful enough to remember their mother on Mother's Day of all days.

Sorry to hear of your mother, but it sounds very peaceful. My mother also passed away in a nursing home in a very similar way about 6 years ago.

Going to try my bike today. I have some lidocaine pain patches that I can try, but getting them on your back is a real challenge, so I hope I can manage. I probably won't ride far, just try it out. I have not ridden my bike in four weeks, since I hurt my back, but even before then, I was sick with bronchitis, so bike had hardly been ridden at all this winter and spring.

Saw some great-tailed grackles "marching" around this morning. I know a lot of people really dislike these parking lot birds, but they have such amazing sounds and can really be funny, especially during matching season when there are females around. These four guys were walking around in a group with their heads pointed up--sort of in formation. I saw some down in Texas once dancing and bobbing and doing everything except somersaults to attract the ladies!!
