Raining in Florida

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Raining in Florida

Postby Oma » Sun Nov 09, 2014 6:35 am

Good morning,

Rain has been coming down softly all night. Makes you want to snuggle under the blankets and read a good book. Had a great time this weekend with our dutch oven friends. One of the guys spent the day teaching his grand daughters and their scout troop how to cook. The girls did a great job! Dave made a pork roast stuffed with apples and cranberries. I made a pumpkin torte. We also had Thanksgiving in One Pot, peach Cobbler, Shepherd's Pie, Goopy Veggies, Taco Sald Soup, Peanut Butter Bars and a few more dishes. Could hardly roll back to the camper when we were finished

I made reservations for Linda, CArol, Liz and Tina yesterday. They will have pull through sites facing one of the lakes. Hope they like them. I was able to hold three additional ones under my name until I get full names and phone numbers from everyone. We'll have a great time!

I think waffles cooked on the cast iron waffle maker are on the menu for this morning. Come join us around the soggy campfire :D

Blessings to everyone and may your worries be small ones. Beth, do you have skis for your camper?

G'morning Vicki, Donna & all to follow :)

Vicki, I really appreciate your "sign off" this a.m.--"may your worries be small ones." I woke up this morning feeling totally useless, but that simple statement reminded me of all my blessings--this forum & all my forum family being one of them! To share all your joys & sorrows fills a "purpose" for me since I really have no family of my own...make sense? Oh well, you brightened my day :D

Rain here too, still no snow. O'Sharon, guess you were in southern NY to hit snow? Haven't heard of much in upstate, but it would be fun to see a nice snow shower before I head off to follow the sun. Barbie & Sue, looks like you're in for real winter!

Mowed & mulched more leaves yesterday--& still more leaves on the tree. Well, at least I feel really great about starting my winter trip with a T-day gtg with my midwest family! So will wait patiently to finish the job:)

Y'all have a great day, wishing y'all many blessings, & be safe always! 8-)

I am looking forward to this GTG. Vickie, a pull thru site facing a lake -- perfect!!!

Your DOG this weekend sounds like so much fun. I really want to learn how to do this. Where is a good place to look at dutch ovens in central FL?

Got to get moving this morning. It is going to be a busy day. There is an early potluck luncheon after church. After all the talk about pies yesrerday, I bought two fruit pies at Village Inn for the potluck. I will be coordinating the seniors in assembling boxes for Operation Christmas Child. That is always fun.

The new baby in our family is being released from NICU today. He weighs 6 lbs and is eating up a storm, at all hours now that the feeding tube is removed. He successfully passed the car seat test yesterday -- just slept through it. This baby is so calm and rarely cried or fussed in the hospital. Definitely hope that continues. Both sets of grandparents are enjoying their first grandchild. DS is taking van to hospital to help haul everything home. I will go visit this evening.

good morning ladies
its just getting daylight and I need to get dressed and go dump the tank. Yesterday I went out and closed the gray tank to have a bunch of water left from the washing machine to do the black tank....well, when I went to take a bath last evening, I FORGOT I had closed off the valve and the bathtub was half full of laundry water.  I just went to bed. Of course
thats the first thing on my mind this morning. The rest of the day I'm just gonna chill and relax.
Found out the fire in the park model the other day was caused by........HUSBAND, burning weeds with the little torch thingy.
So so sorry they lost everything but wonder how mad she is at the husband. No lives were lost, just memories and stuff.
Ya'll have a great day, be safe and stay dry.

Good morning Vicki, Donna, Carol, Linda, Ava & everyone that follows!

Vicki, your Dutch oven meals sound so good! Donna, I saw the Christmas ornaments you made. Good job! Carol, in just a couple weeks, you'll be hitting the road to have Thanksgiving with your brother. Sounds like fun! Linda, the church I go to in MD and our "local to us" campground are both involved with the Operation Christmas Child. Ava, you're always up and about early, especially with you being on the west coast. Sorry to hear about the fire in the park and hopefully will have another home put in place for them real soon.

We're still in NC and will stay here for about two more weeks before heading to FL for the rest of the winter. This week, my sister and her hubby came for a visit and the next day, my nephew and his Dad stopped by. Maybe we'll have a chance to see them again before we continue our trip. We've been doing the touristy things since we've been here and have some more places we want to visit while the weather is nice. Speaking of weather, I saw on the weather channel this morning the first winter storm getting ready to hit lots of places in the country. Barbie could be hit with lots of snow and cold temperatures getting lots of others. So everyone, please stay safe and warm.

Good morning
Been busy with year end medical tests/appointments and several holiday open houses at antique malls. If I can drum up a little more ambition, will tackle leaves in driveways again today, then back to antique shop. Sure hope sales pick up; been a bit slow lately.

Kathleen, you mentioned the Thanksgiving you, Wendy and I spent together. I remember it well and went searching for post about it. Here's link if you want to look again.

No real plans for Thanksgiving this year but if the Arctic blast that is currently on its way here hangs around, the main goal may be just to stay warm.

Have a good day

Good morning! Sounds like there is some nasty weather coming across from the west! Saw that Denver will be 72 today and 27 by Tuesday! Bet my sister will be blanketing her horses! I think I'll resist teasing her since it'll probably come back to bite me if I do!! Carolb, I totally understand about getting through the mountains of PA. I had to be on 80 last Jan. and it was awful and I was in my car. I tend to avoid that road if I can in the winter. The good thing is that the road crews usually clear it pretty well, one day can make a big difference around here. So the rain you gals are having sounds pretty tame! And the sun will shine tomorrow! Sigh!

I never realized Dutch Oven cooking was so big. My friend was looking at one for her daughter at one of the stores we were in the other day and I was clueless! Now I'm curious! So will have to check out some websites to see what it's all about!

We had a good time at the birthday party yesterday. I got to visit and get to know DiL's family a little more so that was great. Not sure what we'll do today, just wing it and decide as we go! Those apple cakes still need to be made! Maybe today is the day! Did I mention I avoid the kitchen most of the time!! :!:

Hope everyone has a great day. Beth, stay warm. Hope you get out of SD before the snow gets to deep!

I'm staying home from work again today. It's 34 degrees out at the moment and dropping. Chances are I won't see temps above freezing again until after I hit the road next week and go looking for them. The snow/ice combo is supposed to hit us this evening and overnight.

Looks like the Florida gtg is coming together. Make sure to keep the gtg thread updated, please. If love to be there to eat all that great food, but don't think I'll start cooking that way. I'm way too lazy of a cook.

Peaches is staring at me telling me that it's way past time to take her out. She's right, so I'll get going.

Good Morning !!! Hadn't planned to post this morning, but after reading I have a site looking on the water for February, hey, had to get on and say Thanks a lot Vicki, that's really something to look forward too, plus seeing all of my Sistah's there. Also looking forward to learning a new way to cook, tired of the old ways :) thinking your and Dave's class will give me that info as to whether its for me or not. I'm kind of a lazy person and the more simple I eat, the better off I am. Those dishes look really yummy I've seen you all have made but gosh, they look heavy too, full of calories. But what do I know until I check out your class

Its rainy here this morning too, started last night as Maggie and I found out early evening when we went out. Nothing helps her to do her business faster then water on her back :D

I have no plans, hmm, that's not news is it ?? I seem to have broken into a rash, that covers most places, think its stress working its way with me again. Hey, as much as I think I am doing ok, doesn't seem to be the case. I try to NOT keep thinking of all of the things that I should or could be doing and just TRY to go with the flow, but guess its not working as well as I thought. This morning the minister I listen to on tv, had as his topic, no less, How to deal with Stress !! Boy, did I need that, but found I do most of it. so will pick up on the things I haven't done and maybe I'll be better off. I know so many of you will be glad for me that this time will soon be over but also thinking a lot of your good thoughts for me will be " so glad that's over, so I don't have to hear her whining anymore"  Thanks for listening all this time !!!!!!

My sis and dh are playing casino games on their computers (loudly) at the table here and I can't think anyway without that distraction, so will wish you all a great day. Stay safe, and thinking most of you, need to be staying warm too.

CArol :)
as I tried to post see O'sharon and Beth, both posted ahead of me. Beth, please stay safe, not liking where you are and how fast that storm is headed your way, I don't think I'm the only one with those thoughts. sorry you'll still feeling bad, get well soon, bet Peaches is happy to have you there with her though.

Good Morning,

Vicki, I also like your sign off 'may your worries be small ones'.

Beth and Carolb, I'm keeping good thoughts for your travels in November weather!! For those of you in the path of this 'blast', stay safe and warm! CArol, sending you a big hug! Ava, glad no one was hurt in the fire, but I wouldn't want to be in the same room with that couple for a bit! Irmi, had to look at the map to find Wilson - great location for your exploring.

So ready to leave here! Heading to the casino to play and then to watch Seahawk football game. Looking forward to spending the night in their parking lot - hopefully away from barking dogs.

My day started with an email from my daughter. Son-in-law is home for weekend. He doesn't understand depression, but he really made an effort yesterday spending quality time with Kyle so it was good day! Tomorrow is first appointment with psychiatrist.

Wishing you all a happy day!

Anita, It's really hard for those of us who haven't suffered from "real" depression to understand it. I spent 10 years living with a manic-depressive, so feel that I understand better, but I've never experienced what he or others do. The closest I came is when a long-term relationship ended - and when I divorced - and I still know I didn't go to the depths people with serious depression go. So we don't always respond as we should. It's so easy to tell someone to "get over it" when they would love to - but it's not that easy. Compassion and love - that we can, and should offer. I'm glad the day was good yesterday and hope they can continue - and that he can come out of the dark - and hopefully stay out. I think about him and your family each day - sending good vibes and healing thoughts.

Peaches is thrilled I'm home. It's nice to know I'm making her happy! I feel like I should have gone to work, but I look at the temp in here (73) and I'm sitting in sweats and a sweatshirt and am cold - so know that I'm better off home. And, that 10 pounds I gained? 4 have come off in the last 2 days - ha. Probably temporary, but hey, it's a start.

Thanks for everyone's good thoughts on my for my travels. As much as I want to be on the road, I will not leave if I think it's a bad day to travel. If it's a good day next Monday - I'll be putting as many miles on as I can or until the weather is better

Good mornin' gals!
11:30 here and I'm squeakin' in under the wire. Slept a little later than I wanted to but none of my dogs minded much. I "borrowed" a ball from my friend's dog Hershey (he has lots of them) to take to play with the other dogs I'm watching. One is very old and can't do much but the other is younger and loves to fetch for me. It's nice to be able to give her a bit of play and stretch her legs some.

Ran down to a nearby town south of me to pick up horse feed and supplements for them and meet up with Carrie. She picked up a frozen turkey for me at a store near her and I had some paint and a coat I wanted to give her. So we met up in the parking lot and went inside to shop for a bit. Her wonderful next door neighbors threw out a Honda 6500 generator for the scrappers and Carrie asked them if she could have it. They thought it didn't work and were just throwing it out! Well, she says it wants to start and between her boyfriend, my son and my DH, she figures someone will know how to fix it! So her boyfriend told her to get some SeaFoam to put in it until he gets a chance to look at it. What a score!

Next two weekends I have several things planned; first breakfast with my friend Vicki and a tack sale, then a gathering of horsewomen at a restaurant. Following weekend I sure hope to be at Kathleen's for Thanksgiving with my WRV sisters. Fun to have things to look forward to! Kathleen, sugar is on sale here at Jewel's I will bring you some!

Anita, I haven't ever thought your posts were "complaining". I always enjoy your travels. Also, glad things look like they are on the right track with your grandson.
Kathleen, sorry you woke up sore, hope you're better now. Glad Margie and your grandson are feeling better.
Beth, you be careful if it's getting stormy! We sure don't want to have to call the dogs out to find you in the snow. Hope you feel better.
CArol, you aren't whining by any means. If we can't all listen and support each other when someone needs it, what kind of friends(and sistahs!) would we be? Things will straighten out soon.
O'sharon, funny you should say your sister will be blanketing her horses, I'll be doing that with mine sometime soon. Current thinking in the horse world, tho is to NOT blanket and let them grow a nice heavy winter coat. Since mine go out all day with nothing to get in out of the weather during the day, I will blanket when the weather turns really nasty.
Sarah, you know you can come up and have Thanksgiving with your sisters up north! I'm positive Kathleen would love it!
Irmi, I love doing the "touristy" thing and sometimes the sillier the better. Both Carrie and I enjoy hitting museums, places of interest, craft malls and anything else we find that catches our eye. In Branson, we even hit a Thrift shop run by a local humane society.
Ava, you are always getting so much done! I wish I had your energy some days when I'm dragging my tail. Too bad about those folk's park model; hope they had good insurance; glad no one was hurt.
Linann, so good to hear the new little one is doing great and can come home.
Carolb, I sure hope to see you at Kathleen's. But I would NOT be pleased to see any snow, lol!
Donna, glad you're going to be able to make the FL gtg.
Vickie, EVERY day I want to snuggle under the blankets and read! And I would also enjoy learning how to do Dutch Oven cooking, but I don't think I'll make it all the way down to FL to learn from you. Maybe someday we will meet up at a gtg and then I can learn. I actually own a D.O. that I've never used.

Whew, that's a lot, gals! Catch ya'll later and be safe!
Kathy
