Your Wednesday Local News

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Your Wednesday Local News

Postby Colliemom » Wed May 29, 2013 6:36 am

Good Morning. It is Wednesday, May 29th, 2013, Colliemom reporting. Today's headlines. Flex Meets Deer on Highway, Outcome Not Good. Friends TT deal Goes Through. Much Excitement Taking Place. On The Weather Front: Some Sunshine Expected.

It was not a good day yesterday for this reporter, who while driving down one of our local major state highways, had the unfortunate luck to have a deer come out of a slope alongside the road, directly into her path. The impact not only caused moderate damage to her vehicle, but also killed the deer who wound up on the opposite site of the road down a small incline. This driver was fine though. A driver going in the opposite direction stopped to render assistance in case any was needed, and after we assessed the damage and the deer, followed me to town to make sure I got to the Sheriff's office okay, to report it Very kind of him. He was probably surprised to find a calm, cool and collective women and not some hysterical femaie at her wit's end over it all. But when one lives up in this country long enough, you know that eventually it will be your turn to join that club of folks who hunt deer with their cars.

Needless to say, the rest of the morning and and most of the afternoon was spent with collision shops, the insurance company and so forth. All is taken care of and the Flex will be going to the car hospital today to get itself all fixed up. In the meantime I will have a loaner to drive.

On the more fun news front, my friends deal for a new TT has gone through and plans are now in the works as to when she will be returning here with her old one to trade in and pick up the new one. Excitement is high in the air. The dealer wants her to be there when they start on the renovations she wants done, so she can advise the techs on how she wants it. She will be purchasing a new Sportsman 19BH. So I expect her to be back here probably the first part of next week, if not this weekend. Yeah! On my end, I am still waiting to hear when the one I want is due in, but dealer was really busy yesterday and wasn't able to get to it. Doesn't matter right now as I can't do anything till the Flex comes back.

And in the Weather News, a warm front has moved in. After an afternoon and evenng/night of rain, skies might clear out a bit this afternoon, letting in some sunshine. More humid air is also expected for tomorrow, but cooling down a bit to more normal temps by weekend.

And this is the way it is, Wednesday morning, May 28th. Have a wonderful day.

GOOD MORNING SUE AND ALL!

Sorry about the deer-car meeting, but happy you are ok and that the car can be repaired. And your friend's trailer deal going through makes this a very exciting Wednesday in your neck of the woods! Hope your trailer comes in sooner rather than later as well.

Laundry this morning, a final hot bath, signing for my new temporary FL license plate when FedEx brings it, packing the truck, and the dogs and I will head back to St. Cloud. I only wish it were cooler, as it will suck to have to stay inside with the AC running back there. Maybe we will just go for the day to say hi to the kitties and allow the dogs to run for a bit, then maybe come back here to swim at the pool for a few more days. We shall see.

Hope you all are well today and will find something fun to do wherever you may be.

Happy travels!

Sorry Colliemom...but I'm still the winner! You have to hit and kill two at the same time to tie me and three to beat me (and the car has to still be drivable except to replace the windshield) PLUS you have to have a buck in the rut kick your car and chit on the hood! That car was lovingly referred to as the Deer Magnet. Hunters wanted to borrow it on opening day....they figured that it they could park it and the deer would come to them!

Sorry about your mishap. :( I know it sucks.

Sorry I am laughing out loud at your misfortune, but come on - THAT was funny.
(okay, fine - so maybe I'm not truly sorry...that was a really good story...)

Good morning y"all. Sue, Glad you are OK and glad Flex will be OK as well. And exciting about the TTs as well. Today is just another day of not being on the road. Dpf, love your story. I think I would have traded that car in on something else. :P I spent a lot of time on the computer yesterday working on my travel/RV blog. Learning a lot about categories and tags. More time today trying to organize blog better along with the everyday stuff; laundry, cleaning, etc. DH is going to the shooting range to volunteer as a helper for a Veteran's shooting tournament. He is a Vietnam Vet. Tyler goes to the groomer today. I used to do all the grooming, however my back and neck still are not good enough yet.

Yesterday, DH bought all the electric wire and socket for our next project. We are going to put a 30amp plug out by RED. This will be nice for RED, but better yet, it will allow anyone visiting (or house sitting) to have enough juice to run their A/C during the summer. Tomorrow, DH will have the work crew dig the trench to lay the conduit and run the wire among many other chores. We have a work crew once or twice a year to clean up the property and do a lot of yard work that DH can no longer do because of his leg.

Everyone have a fun and safe day. Aloha Y'all

Sue I'm sorry for all the damage to your car but so glad you are ok.

DPF that part about the deer in rut and the hunters wanting to borrow the car on opening day is too funny!!! I'll have to tell my brother that one for sure.

Sue - glad you are ok! And I guess I need to remember that MI has the buggers as well. OH and I remember you saying your friend was going to do some work with the bunk. We had the dealer cut my top bunk back even with the bathroom wall and then cut the end piece down to open up the trailer quite a bit. It made the lower bunk usable for us. In fact I sleep on it after putting a Serta memory foam mattress (cut down of course) on it. You can see in this picture. Maybe it will give your friend some other ideas.

I'm hoping that a mini GTG will be able to happen when I'm up there in a few weeks.

Donna what were you wearing on your feet that allowed you to fall? You don't need to fall like that and hurt yourself-----be careful.

Hi,
I'm not sure what your name is. Maggie? Wish I knew for sure. Anywho, how did you get the Serta memory foam mattress cut down? Did you do it or have it done?
Thanks,
Nikki

Good Morning....loved the deer stories. Glad no one was hurt, just cars.

I was raised "at the beach", now live downtown....so no deer in my life.

Off today to get a haircut and buy the cat a harness for our walks this summer while camping.

I must be "the stranger".....hope for not to long.

It's official; being in the same room with you two, laughing till I snort, is going on my bucket list.

Sue, I'm sorry about your run in with the deer. I hate it when they come out of nowhere like that. It must have been very scary.
