FOGGY MORNING BUT WARM

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

FOGGY MORNING BUT WARM

Postby Nasoosie » Thu Feb 21, 2013 8:42 am

GOOD MORNING FROM FOGGY CENTRAL FL!

I discovered that my trailer batteries were only 1/3 full of power yesterday as I was leaving, and they should have been topped right off as I have been plugged in down there in St. Cloud for a couple of weeks now. My son checked it out for me when he got home from work last evening, and told me my battery terminal connections are all corroded and rusted and that I should start there cleaning those off before jumjping to any other conclusions, such as the failure of my inverter/converter or whatever it is to charge them up. So....off I go to get some steel wool and something to clean those terminals off. Will look online to see what is recommended for that chore. The dogs will get some more freedom time this afternoon as I clean them, which they will love. I just hope that the refrigerator runs on AC power when plugged in, and will not swtich to gas when the battery power runs out. I know my lights all run on DC power and those must be what are running the batteries down. Sigh----we shall see.

Hope everyone has a fun day wherever you may be.

I was wondering what to use! Many thanks for that suggestion-----have not bought a coke in YEARS, but will certainly get some today as I head to the trailer!

Good morning Soos & everyone!

Soos, I need to check the terminals and connections on our batteries as well. Thanks for the reminder.

Been busy this morning as we're having a luncheon today at our site. Dawn, Paul, Sarah, Wendy & Peggy (PeggyinCT) are coming. Barb Zee was also invited but not sure if she can come. If anyone else is in the area and would like to stop by, there will be plenty to go around. Peggy will be staying at the campground here tonight but I believe she'll be leaving tomorrow. On Saturday, Sarah will be staying here for a few nights. The GTG's never end! The weather has warmed up and the sun feels so good. Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning to all - a cloudy cool day here in Mazatlan. We are going to El Quelite and taking George with us. We'll have breakfast there and show him the pretty little town. And it is always warmer and sunnier inland. Our time here is nearning an end - just 2 weeks left - hope it warms up in Arizona by then. Last year we had snow in Tucson.
Still hasn't been nice weather for parasailing - with the wind they aren't even going up.
Travel safe if you're on the road -

Good morning, Soos, Pat, Carol, Irmi, Carol, Kathleen, & Sarah ( I didn't miss anyone, did I? ) And to all that follow....

A little cool here today, but it's to warm up and with the sun we should have a nice day... :D We're hosting a campfire here tonight....just the folks here that we hang with...The Sultan is doing some of his famous snacks.... ;)

I got too ambitious with the house cleaning yesterday...basically, found out that I can't "do it all" in one day....anymore... So got all the walls & ceiling washed in the bedroom & bath, along with the carpet shampooed, and the bedding down to include the mattress cover washed...then I said, "Let's do the rest maybe Friday or Saturday?? " In other words, I'm not as young as I use to be when it comes to deep cleaning of this 5er.... ;)

So, today I'll do the usual pick up and just chill the rest...Oh, I'm sure I'll be "drafted" to help with the "snacks".... but that's okay..... ;)

Okay, the coffee is on here and got some Cherrios to share....

If you are traveling today, be safe, and to all "Have a Great Day" :D

Baking soda dissolved in a little water and scrubbed with an old toothbrush is recommended, Sue. The corrosion is from acid, so you need a base such as baking soda to get it off. When you get them clean and have dried them off, you can put a bit of petroleum jelly on them to prevent more corrosion.

Lazy day today, so I could not resist sleeping in. I went out to dinner last night with my two cousins--one of whom I saw 3 years ago and the other who I had not seen for about 10 years. They grew up next door, so it was fun to catch up and talk about old family. I've lost track of several of my 29 first cousins and a couple have passed away, but I do enjoy the ones I can get together with. They are the only people who I can share memories of my grandparents and aunts and uncles with, as we are now the older generation.

I am riding my bike later today to take a river tour on a boat. Have been trying to take this tour, but boat has either been sold out or tide was too low or something every day. They will not take advance reservations, which I think is ridiculous.

Good morning all. Didn't get to the comedy driving school cuz Dr. appt took too long. Gotta have more MRIs and nerve tests done. I'm so sick of this stuff. just want my body be as young and fun as my spirit. :P Gotta get on the phone today and get insurance quotes for RED. Have to have that insurance before we pick her up on Monday. Still excited, but immersed in all that goes with trading one for the other. I know many of you have experienced this as well. So, everyone have a good day and stay safe. Aloha, y'all

Good morning all, it is cloudy and cold but warming up, which will cause a big problem unless it gets above freezing. The forecast is for sleet/snow/rain/ice....ACK They are predicting it will get above freezing but if not will be a mess for awhile. I cancelled my afternoon acupuncture appointment as it was already starting early this morning. Think I'll put on a pot of soup and curl up with a book this afternoon. Now if only I could wiggle my nose like Tabitha I'd come down to join Irmi's party. I think most of us are of an age to remember Tabitha from Bewitched. :D
Also need to call to see if Elsie has been diagnosed yet. Oh, and I need advise, I went to the dentist yesterday and found out I need my permanent bridge that has been with me 50 years, replaced. I like my dentist for routine things but, the dental lab he uses has not been the best. Also when he did a cap for me, it took him an hour to get it to fit right and they let all the gunk run down my throat, it was very unpleasant. I don't remember this happening at the other dentist I saw but it's been quite awhile. So question is, if I call another dentist, will they think I'm a nut case if I ask a bunch of questions about the lab they use and if they are careful about the procedure. I voiced my concerns about the lab to my dentist and he acted a bit miffed, especially when I pointed out it took him an hour to fit the crown.
I really don't have any place I need to go today but of course since the roads are bad I want to go some where.

Soos, the last time I brought my motorhome in to get the water pump replaced I had them change the battery cables. The ends on a couple were so corroded that they were just barely holding on. Did your son check the water in the battery? Be careful when working with the batteries and don't get anything on your cloths. I have a pair of jeans that look like the moths got to them but it was battery acid.

Sarah, thanks for the article. I printed it to put in my binder. I have a 3 ring binder in my motorhome where I put useful information and service receipts. I put some of the clear page protectors to hold things.

We have a severe weather watch for the southern part of Louisiana and part of Texas. There's a small line of rain between here and Cameron. The radar shows most of the rain in North Louisiana so don't know where our bad weather is coming from. All this is headed East so the girls in Florida better watch the weather before they head North. The weather channel is talking about flooding rain but I didn't see which day.

BJ, I have never questioned a dentist up front but we have changed twice because we didn't like their work or attitude. We went to the same dentist for years and did not like the guy he sold his practice to. We go to a lady dentist now. They now use a vacuum thing and constantly vacuum up everything. You don't feel like you're drowning. The good ones we have found were recommended by friends.

Good morning all,
We've got a blizzard going on here. Decision to close office didn't happen at first - until we drove down there around 6:30 & found the only people that had made it in were 2 other directors & the CEO. I voiced my concern for the staff (I'm pretty direct when I feel strongly about something) . It was just starting to come down as we drove in, but it was definitely going to hit & hit hard. Didn't take much to reverse the CEOs initial decision & was able to get the texts trees (like calling trees) out so staff would not come in. Stuck around a little longer than I should have - it was a harrowing trip home - but God watched over me as I pleaded for His help to get me up each hill & around all the struggling cars. Had 6 inches in my driveway when I got home just 2 hours after leaving this morning. Trying to keep the driveway shoveled, but I might have met my match with this storm. :x Even Sierra went to the door, I opened it for her, she looked out then up at me & decided she didn't need to go out that bad.

Lori,
Glad to hear I'm not the only one that can't do it all in one day anymore. It's reassuring to know it's not just me.
Soos,
Hope cleaning the battery posts do the trick.
Red,
I remember the trauma of lining up the insurance for mine too - read up on the advice from this group & went pretty mainstream with it. I'm sure you'll choose well. So excited for you to get the big RED on Monday. :D I hate all that medical stuff too - but guess it's a necessary evil.
BJ,
I think it might be as much the dentist's job to get a perfect impression for the lab to work from as it is the lab's job to make it right. I had a dentist from my high school days who was a perfectionist in this area - I have crowns from him that lasted over 40 years. Another dentist put in a crown that barely lasted 2 years - never did fit right. Went back to my original guy so he could do it right! (had stopped going to him due to insurance coverage). He retired last year so I hope to keep what I've got. ;)
Getting a referral to another dentist might be the best route - and putting it in terms of the lab is probably a 'nice' way to voice your concerns & let them explain to you how they can best ensure a good fit.

Well, it's time to shovel off the driveway a bit more...
Hope you all stay safe...

Got an early start, too early, as L had a dermatology appt in Wickenburg at 9 - left here at 7:45. Another biopsy and back in 3 weeks for freezing.

Not liking the Kansas City storm - older DD is in New Orleans and is to fly home tomorrow night. Then has to drive the rest of the way to near Manhatten.

Still very cold here :(

Soos, after LeRoy cleaned up the connections on my truck batteries, he painted goop of some sort on them to help prevent that.

Hope all are having a good day.
