Well, it's morning for most. For me, it's Friday night in my mind - and I should be heading to bed. But thought I'd open the room - got coffee, tea and hot chocolate brewing and oh, so many goodies. I just love cyber goodies - they have no calories, but I can shut my eyes and smell and taste them I'd love a blondie right about now. Or a brownie ... hmmmm - yummy.

Those brownies and blondies sound really good...better than my shredded wheat! It is quite early and dark here in NY but it promises to be a beautiful day in the 60's. Each day like this I rejoice for, among other things, not using the oil in my two oil tanks. I just don't want to have that big truck filling them again until at least January.

Although the weather is to be warm, I am heading indoors...taking the twins to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. It is uptown from the madness of Rockefeller Center so hopefully it will not be too crowded. One of the best things in NY this weekend is to see all the young kids who came here to march in the Macy's parade. There are literally about 1,000 and most of them have never been to NY. They have such a wonderful time exploring...and buying every souvenir that every conman can sell them! But they have a ball. What an experience to march in the parade, see the city and participate in the excitement. A good reward for learning to play a musical instrument.

Yep, I know what you mean Beth. I'm off today but traveling in eastern KY and heading back to the camp this evening. After 2 and a half months on this wacky schedule I wonder how long it will take to readjust my system. Till then I'll have a hot tea and pecan roll please.

It's raining here in the western U.P. today. Looks like a good day to stay inside and pack for the trip home tomorrow morning. It's been a great week up here. Sure hate to leave and head south again. Being by the lake has been so relaxing. But like everything else, vacations do come to an end.

We will be venturing out for a bit later on this morning as we want to go get some Pasties from the local pastie shop up the road here. For those of you who don't know what a Pastie (pass tee) isss, it's a meat pie. Made with rutabaga, onions, beef and potato, some use chicken) and then put into a flaky crust, like a pie crust and folded over. Yumm. The Cornish and Finnish miners used to carry them in their lunch pails when they went into the mines. A complete meal in one compact package. There are quiet a few places in the U.P. and even the lower peninsula that sell them, but only a few make the really good ones. And there are differences between those made by the Cornish and Finnish. This shop we are going to, has been making them since 1946, so you know they are making good ones and have long standing recipes that are of course going to be guarded. But I want to take some frozen ones home with me and Brenda is going to geet a couple for her nephew.

Then we will spend the rest of the day getting things ready to leave and finishing up some leftovers that are in the fridge etc. Might even work on my scrapbook for awhile this afternoon.

GOOD SATURDAY MORNING TO ALL!

Nice to have the kitchen up and running with FOOD here already! Beth's wish for blond brownies made me drool, and the pasties sound good enough for me to actually try making! I have the leftover rutebega, and can easliy get the remaining ingredients. Bob sent me a link to a place online that showed the shape of the things, and they look as if they would make great GTG fare sometime down the line. I was planning to have steaks for the kids tonight when they get home, but maybe I can make some pasties in advance instead. Hmmmmm.......

Carol I would love to be going to the museum with you----it's been years since I was there, and, at that time, I didn't want to leave.

Sun is up, sky is clear, temperature is 75----a dreamworld for me for late November!

Luckilly, when I checked my paper with the airflight info for the kids on it for the exact time of arrival on Sunday night, I just HAPPENED to notice that the DAY of their coming home is not Sunday, but TODAY! I had marked Sunday on my calendar that sits beside me here, and so was very wrong! Whew! Glad I fixed that! It will be very good to see them again! I plan to go to Publix today and buy some really good steaks to have tonight when they get home----with mashed potatoes, mashed turnips, and some fancy dessert. That airport will be like the stores yesterday on Black Friday! I hope to find them without too much trouble, and then get out of there safely! I may, after I make sure the flight takes off on time from Costa Rica, go over to Pete's again and wait for them to call telling me they are down on the ground. His place is just a stone's throw away from the airport.

Otherwise, today will mean a walk on the lake front for me and Molly, possibly a swim for me at St. Cloud Beach, and just more of no real work! (Unless I decide to make some pasties for a coming home dinner!)

I hope those of you who braved Black Friday shopping still have all your appendages and wallets, and that you managed to buy whatever you went to get!

Coffee time now, and awaiting to get a Skype call from Mandy so I can visit with her and Orion. Have fun today!

Good Morning to All - crap hit the wrong button and everything disappeared! It always surprises me to see how many people are up and about already. But then I remember we are on mountain time here and it is later for you guys.
Sun is just coming up and it looks like it will be a nice day today. Yesterday we had stong winds all afternoon and evening but they are gone now. Might dust later....
Didn't do much yesterday - walked on beach and watched Bill feed the seagulls (they are already sitting out on the beach looking in the window waiting for him. Managed to sunburn my face, I glow like Rudolph. And my sun burn lotion was in the Jeep and of course is gone. Need to find more. And we went into Huatabampo - the bigger town near here to go to market. Had to get tortillas for the birds! Fresh made no less.
Finding things in the markets that we couldn't find before - they even had rib eye steak. Didn't buy any but nice to know.
There are three other rigs here now - sure hope more show up for the winter - this is a really nice place to stay.
Beth you had me going there for a minute with your mention of wanting a Blondie - I was just reading a book where a hunka hunka gorgeous young guy was always called the Blondie.............
Today we might go to Alamos - no real plans.

Just a quick good morning to everyone....the 3G comes and goes, mostly goes, but at least I can usually get on long enough to see what everyone is up to. Thanks Beth, I'll take a half a brownie to finish off my coffee with!

Weather has been downright gorgeous out here! Nice change from last year, it was so windy we only got 2 or 3 rides in. We've been out everyday this week, even a short one on Thanksgiving. If I remember to take my phone today I'll try and get a picture on FB. Can't post here, connection is to slow. Can't believe the week is almost over already, it sure goes fast when you're having fun! I have a bunch of avacados, they were a buck each when I went to the store, so I'm going to make some guacamole to take out and share with the group. They never turn down food, kind of like me!

Good Morning all
It has been a lazy morning here as I decided to just relax and enjoy what will likely be our last mild, beautiful fall day. Had coffee on porch early followed by breakfast as I watched the leaves drift down. White oaks are holding on to their leaves; most others have already fallen. It was so nice yesterday that I didn't even mind blowing leaves to clear the driveway and drains. Rain moving in this evening followed by COLD, near 70 today and chance of snow flurries by Monday!
Soo - I enjoyed you photos of Thanksgiving with Pete and the ones of your grandson's first snow are priceless. I'll have to try the turnips one of these days. It wasn't until after I was married that I even knew people ate them. Strange as my parents always planted turnips in the garden but never pulled the turnip bulb as they were part of the "greens" patch. Guess they left the turnips in ground to produce more greens which we did eat.
Got to take care of a few errands including donation to one of the animal shelters. Took some food before Thanksgiving to both people food bank and animal shelter but so much more is needed.
Also need to pay bills today.

Pasties are wonderful!! Reminds me I should make and freeze some. I usually make 6-7 at a time, cook them about 3/4 of the way (30-40 min), cool slightly, and then freeze. They are a nice meal for someone who lives alone because you can pop one out of the freezer and either reheat in the oven or the microwave. YUM!

Hardest part of making pasties is chopping up the potatoes, onions, and rutabaga. Plus making the pie dough. Makes a mess in the kitchen, but you have a whole meal done at once.

Maybe that will be my task for next weekend.
