Thursday, September 8th

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday, September 8th

A cheery Good Morning from the 45th,

A bit chilly here this morning although mid 50's is way better than the mid 30's we had earlier this week. But our days are fiflled with sunshine and highs in the mid 70's. The system that's causing headaches for you folks in the eastern seaboard area, PA, NY etc. is blocking a ridge of high pressure over us and we see nothing but glorious sunshine for the foreseeable future.

If all goes well, I will be hauling my TT out on the road again and enjoying the nice weather for a couple of days anyway. Am hoping this weather pattern stays through fall for awhile. Not so much the sunshine every day (would be great) but days of sun and mild temps would make a great fall camping season. Have to have some rain once in awhile to keep the trees and plants healthy and let them store it for the winter. Sunshine, cool nights and clear skies make for excellent fall colors too.

Busy at work yesterday, repairing and painting all our wooden bike racks from in front of the buildings and where ever else they are sitting around the park That job is done except for the lettering which has to be repainted and my one co-worker is going to do that today. We have a wedding in the park on Saturday down at our north end board walk area. A beautiful spot. So will be down there today making sure it's all cleaned up and looking nice. Also have a family reunion in our Activity building going on too, so will be a little busy in a couple of areas this weekend. I'm sure with the beautiful weather, that there will be some people coming in to camp as well.

My nice neighbor across the road from me, picked me up two dozen ears of corn so I could process it and put it in the freezer for later this winter and won't take anything for it. I had mentioned to him earlier this week that I wish I could have gotten to the Farmer's Market here to get some before it's gone, but my work hours and days conflict with the market days. Said he would get some for me and did. I hated to not pay him for it as he is out of work, his wife is on a waiting list for heart and lung transplants etc., and he's tied down at home cause if she gets a call, they have 4 hours to get down to the hospital at U of M which is all of a 4 hurs drive away at the least from here. So he doesn't stray too far from home these days. As is, they have to keep going back down every month for tests etc. But I watch their house, take in their mail etc., when they are gone and when they have gone on vacations previously etc., so I guess as far as he's concerned, it all evens out.

And another neighbor who does odd jobs around the neighborhood might paint my deck and reseal my drive for me, which would be great as both need doing. He's going to come down and look it over. I'll pay him for it of course. I don't have time to paint the deck. Too busy camping :D , working etc.....

So grab a cup of coffee and sit down for a bit. Tell us how you are doing and how your days have been. Keep dry, safe and happy all.

GOOD MORNING SUE AND ALL FROM ANOTHER GREY, WET DAY!

I am so sorry for those of you trying to visit our beautiful northeast territories, and those of you going to Beth's GTG in rainy PA.
Enough is enough, I say! We would so gladly send this rain stuff to the poor Texans who so desperately need it to put out those fires.

Mandy returned to her "nest" north of here, and I will pack the last minute stuff to take up to her on Saturday when I head up myself. I hate to change my batteries to the new ones in the rain, and unhook and hitch up in the rain for my trailer inspection tomorrow, but oh well. Tomorrow is supposed to be a better day, so I will attempt to get my pool dried out and put away then, after my early-morning inspection. Must get some recipe made today for Hans, the RV dealer, who gave me a deal on a tire cover for the trailer with the stipulation that I share a couple of glasses of Recipe!

Lots to do, so off I go, leaving you all some hot hazlenut coffee. This weather is so much like the winter I spent in Oregon back in 1965 that I swear when it finally clears here, I might get a glimpse of Mt. Hood! Don't forget to dance in the rain, if you can, in between evacuations once again.

Irene, Katia, Lee, Maria-----GO HOME, ALL OF YOU!!!!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Good morning all on this thoroughly drenched Thursday. The rain gauge is full in Columbia Co., PA.

There's a driving ban for all of this county and other places due to record flooding of creeks and rivers. I just paid for 2 more nights at this cg where I am snug for now. They were very nice to extend my Passport America rate for the weekend....they didn't have to do that. Hopefully by Sunday I will be able to travel the roads necessary to get to the gtg. A snowplow just passed the cg, plowing mud out of the roadway! All area schools are closed, and some students were stranded at schools yesterday because buses couldn't run and parents couldn't get there to pick them up either. Even the Interstates are closed in the area.

Other than that, I have thrown my old raincoat over the leaky bathroom fan vent, and it is no longer leaking for now. Roe and I go out when the rain lets up, and we are managing. We have power, internet, TV, and cell service....what more could we ask for? I sure feel sorry for all the people having to deal with flooding in their homes and businesses though. The cg here had some roof damage from Irene they still haven't fixed.

Soos, I know you are going to thoroughly enjoy being at Mandy's and sharing this last month of her pregnancy with her, and of course being there for the big event too.

Sue enjoy your last few weeks at your job for the year. I know there's a lot to do to get things ready for the winter. Glad you are enjoying beautiful weather.

Good morning everyone!

Sue, it's nice to have neighbors to look out for each other. Enjoy the fresh corn!

Soos, it sounds like you are getting the same weather that we are getting here in MD. We aren't being hit as hard as the areas on the western side of the bay.

Liz, a driving ban? At least you are safe in a nice campground. I hope you don't have any problems getting out of there on your way to the GTG this coming week.

It's still raining in MD but we aren't being hit as hard here on the eastern shore as other areas of the state. Yesterday, Baltimore got 5 inches of rain and I just heard on the news that the same areas could get another 5 -10 inches between today and tomorrows rains. I hope this system gets out of here soon. I hope Paulette is doing ok.

Our BIL is meeting Steve at the house today to see if there is anything they can do to salvage the damaged hardwood floors in our house. Somehow, the livingroom and library floors are ok but there is lots of damage in the diningroom & kitchen.

Please be careful wherever you are.

Just checking in here from just north of Baltimore. This rain needs to quit! Fortunately, my house sits at the top of the hill, so I don't have to worry about it flooding as long as I have power and the sump pump works! It's the huge old trees out back that have me a bit worried, because with this much rain their roots can give way at any time. Let's hope these guys all have a good grip!

Hoping to make it to LIW on Monday for an enjoyable day meeting and reconnecting.

Rain rain go away!

Good morning
After 4 straight days our rain finally moved out over night. I had about 6.5 inches where I live but some areas got over 10 inches. Water in garage again but not as bad as it has been at times. No water in house this time. Yea!!
We have beautiful blue sky this morning with cool sunshine. Nan will be here today and we are going to gtg for lunch.

I actually got my umbrella out (never used in the 3 years since I replaced my last one) for Peaches morning walk. It just didn't let down enough for me to simply want to wear just my rain jacket. Have to go to the post office and store, so will do that soon. The campground here is perfectly fine - albeit the creeks are running like crazy after having been dry most of the summer. The damage is that a leak has happened into the store and office and is hard to keep up with. I have no idea what they did overnight - as I can only imagine the damage that might have happened then.

I've been watching the 10 day forecast every day - and every day they change it - but starting tomorrow it's supposed to go back to "scattered" from "heavy - and right now they show sunshine here for Monday and Tuesday. Keeping fingers crossed that they have that right! They then show scattered for Wed, and back to partial sunshine for Thursday. Maybe we can pull off a sunny gtg yet!

Time for me to get some of these errands done - as I'm not at all ready for the gtg, and am working the next couple days - so need to run out now - rain or not.

Liz, I'm glad to hear that your makeshift cover is working. Sounds like might simply be the seal on that cover.

Paulette - hope you make it Monday, too!

Good morning ladies I actually made it before noon today! You could change that little poem Annie to rain rain send it my way!
Liz, you must be going stir crazy. You do so enjoy getting out in the open but at least you have things to entertain you and can get out between the raindrops.
I am at my full dose of medicine now so I think this morning I will be groggy. My daughter and I may go to AT&T this afternoon to see about getting me a new phone this one does not hold a charge not even for a full day the lady I talked to yesterday set a manager can override the renewal date of my phone so I can get a new one with the discount. Let's hope so!
