THURSDAY MORNING

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

THURSDAY MORNING

GOOD MORNING ALL!

I guess many of you felt our Ruckus Dance yesterday, eh? Didn't realize we would cause such an earth-trembling, but I hear it was quite widespred! We were all to busy to actually feel the trembling ourselves, although my daughter said she felt the house chake yesterday afternnon during an after-shock.

The lot of us went over to view the Class A rig that's for sale a couple of miles from here yesterday afternoon, and, although it's a good buy for someone who could do repairs to engines and generators themselves, it is not for me. It's old-looking and has too many flaws for my liking, and I came away feeling better about what I have. We descended upon the owner with a ton of questions, Richard and Pete climbed onto the roof for a check, the girls went inside to check things out in there, and all breathed a huge sigh of relief when I announced it was not for me!

Yesterday afternoon I enlisted the help of all to try to 'fix' my shelter tarp which has become unattached from its rib/arch on one end! Nobody thought of a camera, unfortunately, as it was quite the work crew. Richard was on a high ladder, Anita was on a high stepladder, Liz was holding a guy rope, Pete tried pulling on a guy rope, the clamp on which gave way and SPLAT-----down he went backwards into a huge brush pile! I took tries bossing people, but found we are all bosses of a sort, and I had to aquiesce to engineering minds! I also did my stint unscrewing and screwing pitons to hold the shelter down, and some time on a ladder. My daughter made me feel ashamed to have enlisted the help of visiting friends, and I backed off when I realized she was right. We got the end better attached than it was, but the roof material is too short to lap over the finial arch enough to hold it. I am grateful to all for the help!

Last night we ate steak, corn, left over beans and potatoes, salad, cheese and crackers, with blueberry cobbler and vanilla ice cream for dessert. After the working afternoon, everyone pooped out right after supper and I believe we were all asleep by about 9:00 pm!

Today began with some light rain, and it's quite dark out there. I put my awning back up after lowering it last night in case of winds, and it's 64 degrees.....not too cold. I see that Liz and Roe are out for their morning walk, so I guess I should be getting dressed and decide what we will do today. Liz and Anita will borrow my truck to go to Lake Placid and take a bobsled (on wheels) ride if the weather permits! Tonight is a free music concert in Wilmington, weather permitting, also. Food menus are to be decided, also.

Hope everyone has a fun time wherever you are---wish you could all be here! Batten down the hatches for Irene, those on the east coast!

Good morning Soos and all the people at the ruckus it sounds like you're all having a very good time. How nice to have friends that help and give advice. It sounds like most people with RVs they are strong-willed and have their own way of doing things if you stand back and look it's quite comical, but in the end they get things done. That's one of the things I like about this group and the singles group there is an abundance of knowledge and advice and you can sort through and choose what's best for you.
I have coffee and will soon get ready to go to the doctor hopefully she will change my medication and I will soon feel better. This has not been a good summer so I am looking toward the fall.
My daughter Jackie bought a house in Lansing Michigan. It is not in good shape but her Social Security money paid for it so what she does to it now will only make it worth more to her and her family. My daughter Margie her family and I will most likely go to see what we can do to help and get a few things in order. The closing is on 16 September or sooner.
I hope you all have a good day enjoy your weather and share a cup of coffee or tea or juice or some of that yummy cobbler,
Kathleen

The wind is coming for the north this morning and it feels so good! When I read my horoscope in the newspaper this morning I had to laugh It said "Getting together with familiar faces will lead to benefits and renewed feelings, plans and expectations. Do the right thing and avoid opposition." I am meeting a group of women from my home town for lunch today who I went to school with and then later worked with them at a local bank. We had great fun and that was back when on the end of the month, everyone's bank statements were mailed out. This meant you stayed until all balances were transferred (no computers) on those old bookkeeping machines and then all new balances were checked. It seemed to never fail that the night before we would all somehow end up going out to one of our favorite dance places, stay way to late and have one too many beverages. The next day we would swear we would never do it again but of course by the time the next marathon end of the month arrived we had usually lost our resolve. In the last few years we have been together less and one woman in the group sometimes does push my buttons. Guess I've been warned to keep my mouth shut! As my birthday grows nearer it seems my horoscope gets more accurate.
Off to find something to wear.

Soos, thanks for giving up mental pictures of your happenings. They are fun on their own merit. And now we get to sip our tea and go over and sit by the fire or in the pool or hot tub and wait for some pictures. You can't tell us Liz is going to run some bob sled course and not get our anticipatory hopes up....... I see Liz leaning into the curve.....I wonder how she is going to manage to set that timer to take that picture....

Also want to give a "shout out" to CArol. You go girl. When one door get closed you just crawl out a window, grab the car (and Maggie) and back on the road you go. :D Enjoy the rodeo and your cowboys.

Still morning, tho barely. We had a nice rain here last evening and some pretty high winds. Certainly made me run like crazy to get my awning down. It was tough doing it as the wind was hefty. Lots of lightening, thunder and the wonderful rain. Seems like things are greening with two rains in a week. Have any of you noticed gas prices going down at all. There are some Valero, Shell and Raceway stations that have gas at 3.349 and diesel at 3.599. That is enough to make you unhook, button down and go fill up, ain't it.

Hope the ruckus crew have a continued great time and safe journey to all on the road. Looks like I need to up the awning again as the blessed wind is picking up.

I'm gently sipping coffee after being sick yesterday, it appears to be settling okay.

Heading off to St. Louis to play with friends this weekend, and we're going RV (wishful thinking) shopping!
