Dreary Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Dreary Wednesday

A Happy Good Morning to all,

It's a cloudy damp day here in northern Michigan. Heavy rains and thunderstorms on the forecast. Those of you who live in IL, IN and OH know what I am talking about. This is a very slow moving system and it will be at least Sunday before we have some reallyl nice weather again according to our weather folks. Reminds me of September, yuck. Looks like potential for 1 to 3 inches of rain.

Work day for me here today again. Just had two days off. Got a bit of stuff done around here, both inside and out. Only not so fun part was sitting in the dentist office getting a new crown on my one tooth. Glad that's over. Just have to go back and get the actual crown when it comes in. Not glad about the bill though  . But if one wants to keep one's teeth, there are some things we just have to do. This is always an expensive time of the year for me as truck insurance and homeowners insurance are both due late July and August.

Bikerchic (Llinda) and I were hoping to get together today, but with weather conditions the way they are and my sensitive tooth right now, we decided to wait till later. Would have been nice to have gotten to meet her, but we will accomplish that before the summer is out.

Otherwise nothing new here, same old. Supposed to go camping this coming Sunday and Monday, but can't get in mood yet with this crappy wet weather. Just going over to the park I work at anyway. Will probably be home here on Monday as I have a few things to do and want to get my hair cut, but go back to the park later in the day and be there for evening campfire etc. That's the nicest time over there, early morning and evenings. I have another trip scheduled for the Sunday after the 4th as well. But to Aloha State Park again.

So guess it's time to get rollling around here. Hope you all have a wonderful day. For those of you with illness problems, I hope you get to feeling better, for Carollyn and her family, my prayers and condolences go out to you.

GOOD MORNING SUE AND ALL!

Sue, too bad you can't stay at your campground for free, as that would get you out of the house for a change of venue and a refurbishing of your emotions, even if it rains the entire time. Do you have a TV in your trailer? And you could do crossword puzzles, take the dogs for walks in the rain, write in a journal, clean out your computer to make it faster----anything but housework and the mundane chores of the main house.

We had a beautiful first day of summer yesterday----suny, warm, slight breeze----just a lovely day to behold. It's 50 degrees outside now, and the sun is trying to break through the early-morning overcast sky. It promises to be another great day.

Yesterday I moved my old trailer to its summer position here in the yard, so people can use it for a spare bedroom/abode while visiting. I will run an extension cord out to it for lighting and TV. It has a gas stove and 3-way refrigerator in it, too, but I'll probably not turn that on. Things are shaping up for the summer season! I also cleaned out the party barn, and that took the greater part of the day. The white pine pollen, dust, remnants of glass from a broken window that a bird had crashed through, tons of cardboard stored in there, (which I burned last evening in the calm dampness) and all-around messiness left over from last summer's doings made it a monumental cleaning job. I will tackle the screen porch out there another day!

The lawn mower is now back at the pond, so today I think I will tackle that job, along with washing bedding from the other bedroom upstairs. If the pond cabin doesn't get livable (water hooked up and a way to have the generator make power available) that bedroom will have to be ready when family gets here.

Still fascinated by the Casey Anthony trial proceedings in between working, too. I wish I had TV working on the channel that broadcasts that at the pond, but I can only get PBS channels down there. Oh well----

Mandy and Joe will take a mini vacation to Burlington VT beginning this afternoon and lasting until Sunday, and I have volunteered to take care of their dogs for them while they're gone. The dogs are huge pony-sized rotweiller/black lab/something else mixes, and I sure do hope they mind me when their parents are gone! I can get them to mind when they are here, so we shall see!

Hope you all have a happy day doing whatever you like best!

Good morning to you, Sue, Soos, and all to follow, from a cloudy and humid North central PA.

Nan and I are on the move again today, heading into NY state. There may be more rain in the forecast for today, or just as likely the rain has already passed during the night. We shall see.

Nan is feeling much better, and has decided her symptoms were probably due to some sort of spider bite.

I pray everyone else is well or on the mend, and sending comforting thoughts and prayers for Carolyn & family.

Liz, don't forget that you and Nan can come here to park any time, and come and go to see all the vistas and stuff around the Adirondacks-----as long as you come back in August, too, for the Ruckus! There is always space enough for rigs here!

It may be a dreary rainy day weather wise but Herschel has helped make out my "running around and get these things done so we can leave town list" so I may get damp but it will all be for a good cause. Need to park the Short Bus near the door and start replacing all the stuff I removed when I had the new floor put in. Need to do that to remember what supplies are missing. Sometimes, stuff gets borrowed for the stick house and not replaced. There are groceries to buy, propane to refill, last minute laundry to do......we are having fun already. At some point I need to look at a map and decide which roads to take towards MD and how far north or south I want to wander before I arrive at my destination on July 1st. I will need to study the ideas made of jello and see what firms up from the mixture of maybe here, or what about there, possibilities. I have reservations for my cousin's house over the weekend of the 4th but I am winging it regarding where I will be staying the rest of the trip. Hope everyone is working and playing safely......enjoy the day, it is the only one we know we have.

"Woof, Woof, Woof, yip, yip........"

Yes, Herschel. :) I'm going, quit rushing me, I'm heading off now. I know you are getting excited! But it isn't time to bring dogs on board, yet. :D

Good morning gals! Gonna be a hot one here again today in the mid 90's. I guess that is normal around here this time of year.

Perris is going to his new home in about an hour. I hope he likes it there! He deserves a good home.

I decided I really don't like my new glasses. They are way too big for my face. I found out I can send them back for a full refund or exchange for new ones. So I ordered a pair of frameless ones like my last ones but these are smaller and also got them with the transition lenses that get dark in the sun. They cost a bit more but I know I will like them much better.

Today is the 4 year anniversary of my mom's passing. I really miss her yet, but I dream about her almost every night still. I know she is still around in spirit. I talk to her alot :D

Can't wait until Saturday! First thing in the morning I will head up to the foothills south of here for the big Annual Gourd Festival where I took that class on gourd crafting last November. It is their last annual festival so it should be a good one! After a few hours there, I will head down to San Diego along the coast (stopping along the way) to the Mission Bay area to meet with the group I will be camping with next month. We are spending the afternoon/evening on the beach with food, sun and chit chat to get to know each other and talk about the trip.

This afternoon will be just staying home (after dropping off the dog) and getting caught up around here with housework, etc.

Hope you all have a great day!

Barbie, any updates on the roommate search? What about that guy you were emailing and planning to meet up with, any news there? Inquiring minds want to know!

No roommates yet. Don't think it's gonna happen now since there is only a little over 2 months left on the lease, and I will be moving out then.

Never did meet that guy. He wanted me to drive down to LA where he lives to meet him, but when I suggested we meet half way instead, I never heard from him again.

Got the dog to his new owner. Then stopped at PetCo on the way home and saw a Lost Dog poster in there for a dog that looked a lot like Perris. However, he was last seen 3 weeks ago in Lake Elsinore. That is a long way from Perris and he would have had to cross two freeways and a lot of open, hilly land with coyotes to get to where I found him. He also didn't appear to have been on his own for two weeks prior to me finding him. Maybe a day or so at the most. The face looked like him but they said theirs is a beagle rottie mix, so he is too small for that combo.

It is hot out! 94. But without the humidity, I don't sweat much, which I hate doing, so not complaining. Altho the chocolate I bought was all melted by the time I got home :(

Oh, and I was just seconds away from a roll over accident on the freeway! An SUV rolled over into the ditch. By the time I came up to it, several people were pulling over and running over to the car to check on the people inside. I could see the driver sitting up and looked conscious so that is good. I didn't stop because lots of other cars were pulling over. Later I was in a store and overheard a woman talking about it. Turns out she was right behind the SUV and said a mercedes was going way too fast in the outer lane, hit the gravel, lost control, and oversteered to get back in the lane and ended up crossing all three lanes and hitting the SUV, causing it to flip and roll. All I saw was a big cloud of dust and everyone hitting their brakes in front of me and then saw the SUV in the ditch. Sure glad I wasn't a little further ahead of where I was, or it could have been me instead!

Barbie, what a metaphor for a relationship! If he won't meet you halfway, forget him. Would have been a very bad start, to say the least.
