Cloudy Thursday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday Morning

Postby Ladyhawk » Thu May 12, 2011 5:55 am

Rain, rain, and more rain. Good for the trees. Bad for the doggies. Maybe I should get them their own umbrellas.

Took the RV to Ft. Collins for Mother's Day weekend. I've mostly recovered from the surgery, so all went well. The only problem I had was when Jess attacked another dog while we were walking. Shocked the heck out of me, since she's never done anything like that before. It was the second time I've walked her and Timmy since the surgery. She pulled out of her collar and jumped a dog while we all walked past each other. I know you're not supposed to get in the middle of a dog fight, but instinct took over and I hit her on the head and dragged her away. (Don't tell my surgeon...) The other woman was very nice about it and said there was just a scratch on her dog's chest, so I gave her a copy of Jess's rabies certificate and told her to call me if it was more serious. I spent the rest of the evening in shock, wondering what could have possibly made her react that way.

Aside from the dog drama, it was nice to get out and feel "normal" again. And, maybe it's the cancer, maybe it's my mid-life crisis, but I started thinking, "Gee, I'd really like to get a motorcycle....." Maybe when I finally get my master's, I'll treat myself to a bike. ;)

Hey, LadyHawk, be careful getting back out there. I know what you mean about instinct tho. My dog was jumped by another dog on a walking trail one time and I jumped the pit bull that was attacking him. Luckily I didn't get hurt but the psych damage to my dog, well, let's just say that he hates to walk on paths with other dogs now.

I'm so glad it's Thursday and the week is almost over. Only 12 more school days left till my retirement. My house is back on the market but all is low key right now. I have house guests so all the bedrooms are full. My niece and her husband are staying "in town" with me while his father is in St. Thomas for an infection in his heart/bad defibrelator. Then his mother was driving back home to their little town about 90 miles away (yeah, Hohenwald) after a late night at the hospital when she fell asleep and totaled her car. So when she was released from the hospital they brought her here. But it's family so I can't say no. Yesterday I did 6 loads of laundry!

Off to work and my kids who are ready to burst if summer break doesn't get here soon. They have no idea that I have it worse!

Cloudy Thursday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Thu May 12, 2011 6:12 am

A cloudy morning here at the 45th. Just stopping by for a quick hi before getting dressed and off to work. Will see how much we can get done aruond the park today. Yesterday's weather was crazy, so we are having a hard time getting to some things. Was supposed to have rain showers and maybe a T-storm in the morning and then nice in the afternoon. NOT. Turned out to be T-storm mid morning and rain for 3 hours into mid afternoon. First wave of really dark clouds came over and nothing happened, so we just kept doing whatever we were doing. Second black cloud arrived about and hour later while all of us were working down in the north campground. 2 were blowing leaves with big walk behind blowers, my boss wa cutting down trees, three of us were cleaning up behnd him, picking up the branches/limbs and wood. So this big black cloud starts doing the cloud to ground lightenng thing across the lake. Needless to say, we made a fast pickup of the last tree's limbs etc., stopped blowng leaves and everybody vamoosed, beelined for HQ. It rained for three hours after that. So we stayed inside, finding odds and ends jobs to keep us busy and takng our lunch break. We've had to work inside so much it seems, that we are having a hard time finding things to do when it's rainy out lately. And it was supposed to have been in mid 70's too. Hah, made the low 60's. So we shall see what happens today as showers are in forecast everyday till Sunday.

But I got a lot done on my days off this week. Shopping, Chiropractor, Dentist, cleaned house, cut grass, washed windows, did some yard trimming, cleaned out basement window wells, put wood strips on my TT's cupboard door project, walked girls, etc. Whew. Had to go back to work to rest up. Found out from Dentist that I need another crown on one of my teeth as the old filling is breaking down and starting to crack, grrrrrrr. Another bill to the tune of $1300 bucks

Well, gotta run here. Glad to hear all appears to be well on the forum sister front for the most part. Still thinking about Carolyn and her house being flooded. Haven't heard the latest on the flooding down in LA as yet. No time to watch the news. Keep safe please.

So have a wonderful day everyone. It's a great time to be out enjoying life.

Last evening we sat on Carol's deck and listened to the Whip-poor-wills calling. Would you like to listen too? Click on the video:

Our little GTG is growing. We're expecting Nan to arrive sometime today, and Carolyn (Sunshinecruiser) to join us tomorrow. Carolinagal won't know what hit her.

What a frightening experience with the dog, Amy. I'm sure I'd have reacted the same way. Glad you weren't hurt.

Haven't heard the news yet today about the flooding. Still thinking about Carolyn in LA.

I know you're getting very excited about the big day, Vickie. Try not to burn your lips as you kiss the tailpipes on the school buses on the last day of school.

Happy travels to all.

GOOD MORNING TO ALL.

Today will be another summer-like temperature day here in Orlando, with possible record-breaking numbers. This morning is a perfect high 70s, and doors and windows are open, but I suspect I will need the AC later on this afternoon.

I hope we hear more about Butte LaRose before the day is out. I am thinking of Carolyn and what she is going through.

I will be swimming at the pool when it gets to its hottest, and perhaps go for a bike ride this morning while it's still cool enough. Or, maybe go for a canoe trip around the pond. Oh, decisions, decisions!

I love hearing your whipoorwills, Liz! The ones in the Carolinas sound just like the ones in the northeast, bu the ones further south, like in the St. Cloud area, have a definite accent unlike our home-grown ones! I would love to hear them in person, and wish I had the money to head up your way to meet with you all at Carol's! It sounds like a good time will be had there----HI to all from me and Molly.

Amy, so sorry your 4-footer decided to make an attack-----sometimes we can't understand what goes on in those minds to cause such an unexpected event. Perhaps something about the demeanor of the other dog incited it, but that's still no excuse, of course. If Jess hadn't slipped her collar it wouldn't have happened. Perhaps she knew you don't have the max strength needed to curb her instincts yet. I'm glad the other owner was reasonable about the fight. I never trust Molly when we are walking....she tends to be a bit 'bristly' with all dogs until she knows them better, and, if the others make any aggressive moves or signs, she could be the first to attack, I think. (But I don't want to find out, so I hold her back!) Be careful out there until you are fully up to par!

Horizon Seeker.....SOON! It will be over SOON! Now, if your family will just simmer down and allow you to better enjoy yourself, you could celebrate!

Coffee is hot, so stop by and let us know what's up in your part of the country.

Happy travels!

Good Morning (by AL time, anyway).

Amy - so glad you were able to get out but sorry about the dogs. Do remember to take it easy.

Vickie - Wonderful short count down you have going there. Retired and free so very soon.

Between the tornados, moving around to escape, etc I am sure I have missed a number of birthdays and welcoming new members so Happy Birthday and Welcome to the forum for all those I missed.

By late yesterday afternoon, Liz and I decided we had rested enough so spiffied up Carol's back deck and cleaned the patio furniture. We are ready for other visitors to arrive now. We were rewarded for our efforts by the beautiful singing of the whip-poor-wills all night. What a wonderful way to end a day.

Soos/Kathleen - There will be pixes but may have to wait for better connection.

Hello ladies!

It's a bright, sunny day in MD and temperatures will get into the 70's. The winds are quite as brisk as they have been the rest of the week, so maybe I can go this evening without lighting the woodstove.

My brother is giving me the afternoon off so I can take our father to his physical therapy appointment as he and his wife will be going to Baltimore this afternoon to visit our sister in Shock Trauma. Her surgery went well yesterday and she has screws & pins on both sides of her ankle. The doctors are hoping to release her in a few days but she will need to go to rehab before going home plus she can't put any weight on that leg for 12 weeks. I hope they are able to keep her as comfortable as possible.

I hope those having GTG's are having a good time and travel safely and everyone is well and safe as well.

It rained a good soaking rain in San Antonio this morning. I know there are a lot of you out there that can barely stand to hear about rain but we really needed it here badly. West of San Antonio got some rougher weather including a possible tornado touchdown but the northeast side where I am just got the rain. Cleared up this afternoon so I guess that is it for us. My 5th wheel is sitting in the driveway so I was worried about the hail some places to the west were getting but here or in the storage lot wouldn't have made a difference and we didn't get any.
