Rainy Tuesday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Rainy Tuesday Morning

Good Morning everyone,

A rainy start to the morning here. Supposed to clear out later on. Good for the grass and also the fire danger which, despite have 7 inches of rain last month and also some this month, is Very High at the moment. Actually had a fire start near where that big one south of me happened last year. Garage caught on fire and spread to the woods. But it didn't get far. Nedless to say, burning ban is in effect.

Thanks for setting out the breakfast bar this morning Beth. It looks so good. Don't know how you manage to do it, having to get ready for work and all :)

I'm on my second day off today. Always have Monday and Tuesday off each week. Yesterday was busy with cleaning up the house a bit, a quick run to do some grocery shopping, cutting grass, a bit of trimming, cleaning out window well areas around my basement, putting the wood strips in my TT's cupboard areas now that it's warm enough to glue. Will remove clamps today. Need to do a little bit of screwing as added reinforcement, put on the door latches and knobs and will be done. But first need to get new drill as my old one's batteries are worn out and will no longer hold charge. For cost of new ones, may as well buy new drill.

I made my first camping reservations of the season yesterday. A two nighter on Sunday and Monday of Memorial Day weekend. Just to Aloha State Park, 50 miles north. Decided may as well spend the holiday somewhere besides here. My entertainment will be watching all the other campers packing up and heading home. Will probably have the whole campground to myself by Monday night. Who knows, maybe if I get thngs caught up here, my TT cleaned and ready to go and the weather is nice, I might even do one before then.

Echo, glad to hear you are ready to roll back up to the rock. Drive safely. I know what you mean about the paychecks. I get paid this coming Thursday but it will be a small one cause I started toward the end of the pay period, so it will be end of month before I get a full one too.

Irma, such a busy lady, but I know how it goes. When I was growing up, we had my grandfathers yard to take care of, our second home up here and of course our home downstate. But we balanced it all out between work and play. Just need to get a routine. And we gardened too, like you do. In my early years, my dad would use the walk behind plow and start at the neighbors next door, go across our yard and the neighbor on the other side. We all had 100 ft. wide, half acre properties. So itwas one big garden all across. And we exchanged stuff between us all summer. Those were the days.

I'm watching the Mississippi rising as it works it's way south and keeping my fingers crossed for those in it's path. Carolyn, I hope your home doesn't suffer much damage. It must be hard on you to have to watch this. Many of us contemplate selling our homes to downsize or go full time, but none of us would want to lose a home that way. It's been a rough spring in the south this year. At least Sarah can relax a bit now that things seem to be returning to normal in her life pretty much. Liz, you are wonderful.

Time to be off and explore some other posts, get caught up and then ready to head into town. Appts. this morning. Have a wonderful day all.

GOOD MORNING SUE, ALL!

The news is saying that Ole Miss is cresting in the Tennessee areas this morning, just a tad under the all-time high water record, but way over what those who live along her banks were hoping for. So far, they are saying the levees are holding, thereby protecting the most densly inhabited areas. It's sad that some have had to sacrifice for the good of the majority. I hope all of us on here who are being affected by this wall of rushing water, looking not unlike a channeled tsunami to me, will check in as soon as they can and let us know you are ok. I realize many of you will be losing much of your household stuff that you weren't able to move, but, hopefully, you and your family members, including the 4-footers, will come through safely. It just sounds like a nightmare to me.

That being said, the heat down here, unusual for this time of the year, seems like nothing in comparison. We desperately need some of the heavy, flooding rains that have been, and still are, falling north of us. The town where I used to teach has suffered horrendous flooding damage, and, the last I knew, it was still raining there. Relatives of neighbors down here said that a portion of Interstate Route 81, the road I would be taking to go home, has been closed due to flooding. I am thankful to be here, safe, and comfortable until the weather conditions improve and settle down.

Everybody please keep an eye on the radar, and be extremely cautious in your travels if you are in the eastern part of the country and along the Mississippi.

Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Sue wow a camping trip planned... good for you...
Soos relax and enjoy the heat but I bet you are getting homesick for the beautiful mountains... soon you will be there and happy as a lark... blueberries in bloom...
I want to move my computer to the 'office' but there are several things that I need to move before I can do that... it will make the living room look better... I tend to get piles of papers and junk mail piled up here...
I envy those who are neat and tidy...
Anyone that are on the road drive carefully... and what ever is in store head into the wind and enjoy this day...

Good morning!

I am sooo counting my blessings this morning. We have created a great lifestyle and I can't imagine going back.

So sorry to hear of rough conditions many are having to deal with. Makes me appreciate our circumstances all the more.

Be blessed.

Morning!
Just a bit past 9:30 here and it's been 2 hrs already since I went and had blood drawn! I cancelled my appt with my cardio Dr last month and she called to remind me how important it is for me to keep on top of things. So fasting labs were needed a wk before the appt. next Tues.

After the labs I got a few groceries and then checked my mailbox for yesterday's mail. In it was a letter from the IRS for my X-husband's estate. So here we go on dealing with that! He owed allot of back taxes. I called the lawyer and told him I had gotten a letter and he said to just bring it up to him and he'd deal with it, so that's what I did. It's what I pay him for.

Also next Tues. I'm getting WiFi in the house. I found that since I have the Comcast Triple Play plan it free, so why not? It will save me having to pay for a 3G data plan for my iPad, at least until I go RVing and then I can buy the 3G a month at at time.

Goodness, it seems all our mid-west/southern sisters are busy with dealing with Mother Nature's wrath. Please know that I'm keeping you all prayed up.

Hoping for some sun here, but the forecast is a cool wet May/June. Then typical July/Aug/Sept. So far we are 146% on rainfall! :? I have noticed that our highways are showing strain from the rain, too, with more potholes emerging.

And so it goes........
