Frosty Saturday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Frosty Saturday Morning

A Happy Good Morning to You All,

Retirement parties, trips being planned, rigs beingreadied, some already out on the road, all kinds of spring happenings going on these days. The season is truly here.

A sunny but frosty morning here this morning. Typical for this time of year since our last frost date is around Memorial Day, but that doesn't mean anything. There have been summers when we have had frost every month except July. I never plant anything in the way of flowers till after Memorial Day anyway. My neighbors used to do theirs every year in May as soon as the weather warmed up and lost them every time. I kept telling them they should wait till after Memorial Day.

Took the drive over to Petoskey yesterday and picked up the doors for my storage cabinets in the TT. Was a nice day for a drive. The "girls" especially Sassy knew I was going someplace other than town and pressed me to take them along. Course you know, none of us are going to turn down those big brown eyes when we know we can take them with us. Once I said okay, you want to go for a ride, that was all I needed to say. The barks, the paw swipes, the excitement was there in an instant. And into the truck they went. I decided that I would enjoy the day and to heck with whatevr I was thinking of accomplishing around here. Wasn't in the mood. I was in the mood for some adventure.

So off we went and drove over to the dealers, picked up the doors, I took a look at the TT I had been looking at the decided that mine was just as good even though the walk around bed was pretty neat and so was the underbed storage. Will file it in my mind for later reference. Then headed off to Burger King for lunch and a potty trip. Then it was over to Petoskey State Park. This a beautiful state park along the shore of Little Traverse Bay, part of Lake Michigan. It has a spectacular beach and a lot of walking trails all over through dense woods of cedar, pine and hardwoods. It is also the park that my former boss now manages.

The campgrounds of course are still closed and the roads are gated, but one can park and walk in. So off we went, down the long and winding road to OZ. Seemed like a long walk, but was probably only a half mile. I picked out a number of sites I would love ot park on when the park isn't busy and during the summer it is. But in the spring and fall it's more quiet. The beach and lake can't really be seen from the campsites except in perhaps a few locations due to the dunes along the shoreline. But those dunes protect the campground from the winds off the lake which could in some conditions, blow you right out of there. So my sites are picked out and the park is on my list. And I let the girls run free as we had the whole place to ourselves. They had a ball sniffing and exploring, but their tongues were hanging by the time we got back to the truck.

On my drive over I had a big class A pulling a toad with a canoe bigger than the toad behind, up ahead of me on the road. They were clipping along at a fairly good speed of about 58 or so as I had my cruise on 55 and they were up ahead of me, but never out of my sight. when we got into the outskirts of Petoskey, they turned off onto the road that headed to the casino. Figured maybe they were hoping to win enough to pay for the gas for the thing   :) . But there is also a mall there with a bunch ofstores including Wally World, so they may have been headed there as well.

Well, I'm off to gas up my own vehicle and do some grocery shopping. Then plan to wash a few windows outside or at least the inside screens and put them in as it's getting warm enough to maybe open some windows for a bit today. Also going to get the lawn tractor started and probably wash and clean my snowblowers and put them away. Took some stuff over to my neighbors yesterday for the garage sale next week and will be working on that tomorrow and Monday as it is supposed to rain.

Sunny Saturday morning to all you Sistahs. Beautiful sunrise, breezy and a nice 71* here. Very damp however. Have dew drops falling off the trailer and of course, everything in the trailer is damp.

Little wren singing his head off outside the door in the grasses. The Redwinged Blackbirds doing their coo-coo-cheree, willets doing their willet-here willet-here here here, and the boat-tailed grackles squeezing his vocal cords loud enough that a female even came over and looked at him.

Hope every one has a great day today. Need to put my flags and birds out and take a little walk. All have a great day, have fun but be sure to be safe on the road.

My van is out of the shop and now garaged, as I stick with my Auto Free Exercise Plan.

The goal was to lose weight and increase muscles around the joints being attacked by RA.

Its too soon to tell but riding my trike does seem to be getting a little easier. Perhaps I'm getting stronger. The weight that I have put on this winter, no thanks to steroids and my love of unhealthy foods.. is another matter. 25 lbs to be exact.

I haven't lost a single ounce.

So as of today, taking a serious look at the Food side of this weight loss / exercise plan. I have a feeling this is going to be a lot harder than riding my trike all over the place.

Good morning ladies :D
woke up to rain on the roof this morning, so guess anything I do will have to be indoors.
We needed the rain to clean the air cause Phoenix is a dusty city and the cactus need to
absorb the water and make blossoms.
Will do the routine stuff, laundry, trip to the bank, maybe do some dishes and if I get the
right energy thing goin I'd like to rearrange my room and make it more efficient. Really
need to scrape off my desk  its accumulating stuff.
Got the taxes done last weekend, just need to get them in the mailbox now. I don't file
mine online as the one time I did, (last year) they never got them and caused me all kinds
of grief, not to mention extra $$ so I don't trust the free online tax services and will
continue to do them the old fashioned way, which is hard copy and pony express. :D
Time for another cup of coffee but breakfast will have to wait until after my trip to the
store as I need some fruit in my diet. Ya'll have a great day and be safe.

Good morning all,

I just got back from a long hike with Roe on the outskirts of McIntosh. Followed a new country road that I haven't been on before, past some farms. Found an active Osprey nest atop a power pole. Had to walk early as it is supposed to get into the 90s here today, and it is well on its way.

When I got back I put the awning out and Roe and bandit are now sitting out there. I will join them soon with my book, binoculars, and camera.

Alice, all that biking is surely increasing your muscle mass which may account for not losing pounds. Much better than fat weight though, which you are undoubtedly losing.

Birdie, I hear all sorts of bird song on my walks around here, but don't see the singers. Will need to get a bird sound CD to learn to recognize what I'm hearing. Last night (before I took my hearing aids out  ) there was a cacophony of sounds outside my window, which I'm guessing were frogs. Loud enough to keep hearing folks awake.

Sue, that sounds like a nice state park. I didn't get to Petoskey on my tour through Michigan a few years ago, and it is still on my list. I wanted to look for the Petoskey stones/rocks? I heard about.

I hope everyone enjoys their day today.

It's another warm(82) and windy day here. The wind dries everything out so my DH will have his sprinklers going before long. I had a cold last week that went into my sinuses so was blowing and hacking all week. I finally gave in and went to the walk-in clinic yesterday. $50 worth of medicine later and I'm finally feeling better. I was coughing all night and the cough syrup I got stopped that.

I put a crock pot full of beef ribs on this morning. My DH isn't too crazy about them, he's a steak man but I like them sometimes. They have so much fat in them you almost have to cook them one day and refrigerate them overnight to get the fat off. It doesn't much matter what I cook with my son around there isn't much that goes to waste.

Need to go to Wal Mart and get that over with. I have a surprise birthday party to attend later for a friend that I worked with. We usually get together several times a year for one reason or another. It's good to see all my ex-work friends. The only thing I miss about working.

We left Big Bend yesterday. We got there a little too early to see the cacti in bloom :( and it was pretty windy so left a day early and here we are in Las Cruces. Played tennis this am, washed the car and tGM is doing some repairs. Later this afternoon we will probably hit Mesilla and then listen to some music in the evening. Plan to visit my sister and BIL in Benson around the 13th/14th and stay for at least 10 days. Lots to do in and around this area. I need to look at the member map. I seem to remember that someone lives near here. carold

A little after noon but I slept in late today. It is actually colder here this weekend than Minneapolis, MN!! Yesterday's high here didn't even reach their low last night!! What's that all about??

Got get myself motivated soon here. Need to clean up the apartment to get it looking halfway decent for my roommates moving sale tomorrow. Also need to find my own stuff to sell.

Sounds like everyone is getting busy with spring and summer plans and travel now. I might look into some local campgrounds for this summer too. Still have all my camping gear with me.

Better get my butt in gear here. Maybe some food will get me motivated....

Love Las Cruces! Are you at the Coachlight RV Park? Right around the corner from there is a great Harley store...2nd floor sale items. Also there's a guy there with a really cool trike he made out of a...I'm thinking a Mustang, could be another type of car. Anyway, really nice guy. The restaurant there on premises has some really good green chile. Mesilla is cool, Evie and I spent a day there noodling around. Enjoy your stay! Are you gonna be anywhere near SoCal after you leave Benson????

Sharon, we're staying at Sunny Acres-used to be a Passport America, but when we got here, found they were no longer members. This is our 3rd stop here. Thanks for the biking info-I'm not letting tGM any where near a motorcycle shop  Love the area but not the dry weather so I'll just discard the "homes for sale" magazine. The wind is blowing from 5-60 mph. And no matter how we try, the sand/grit is getting in. Will have to do a good vacuuming. Went to Mesilla for a walk/drink/food. Sat outside with some music. We had to hold onto our plates to keep them from blowing off-lost some fritos and salsa  hope someone is enjoying them. So tonight we're staying in and tomorrow night we have reservations at the Double Eagle. We'll see what the weather is like before making day plans. Monday, the MH goes into the Ford dealership for an oil change-maybe I'll go shopping  carold
