MONDAY - THE LAST DAY

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

MONDAY - THE LAST DAY

Postby Colliemom » Mon Feb 28, 2011 8:03 am

And Good Morning to You All,

Well, here we are. Monday, Feb. 28th. the last day of the shortest month of the year. And March is about to begin. It is a good name for the month as it it truly a march toward spring.
The day is dawning bright and sunny here, the storm that was to come is not coming up here and is weakening even for the downstate areas.

Finn and the girls made it through another day yesterday although not with out problems. He being a little aggresive, is making my dogs especially Sassy very nervous. His has kind of made this area under my computer table, his private domain now. So when I am in here, so is he. Keeps the rawhide rings under here too. But it is not necessarily a good thing. On Saturday afternoon, he was laying under here when Tessa came in to curl up in the dog bed that's next to my computer table here. She had just gotten on to it, when he charged out from under the table and snarled at her. She of course left. I don't know if he thought maybe she was a threat to his rawhide rings or what. But she will not come back in here. Spending all her time in my bedroom on the other bed.

Yesterday afternoon, after we came home from out walk, we were all in the breezeway getting out of leashes, collars, jackets, boots etc. Sassy was standing by his food bowl just waiting for me to take her collar off. He must have though perhaps she was going to eat a bit of what food was in there and went snarling after her. I promply balled him out. And then again yesterday evening when I was fixing my dogs dinners, both of them were by the counter and he lit into her again. Don't know if maybe I accidently dropped a piece of food or what, but nevertheless. So Sassy is now very nervous having him around here and is getting very clingy around me. Last night she was sitting and laying very close to my chair while I was on my laptop. At one point I could feel her shaking just a bit. So I think it is going to be best to place Finn elsewhere. Although he's a good dog, I just don't want my girls under stress for another month before he goes home. He loves t oplay, but my two are older and won't play. Let's just say, if he disappeared, they would be very happy. So I have called my pet sitting neighbor to see if she can take him in at all. Waiting to find out as she wasn't home last night. I hate to do this, but ........

A few people were asking yesterday how I can sleep with all the bodies on my bed. Well, my two don't sleep up there. They have never had any interest in getting of furniture. Other than Tessa who wants up during storms and ocassinally once in a while when she wants some "snuggle time", they stay either in their own beds or on the floor. I think it's probably because they are older when I adopt them and having spent their lives in their outside kennel and yard, they aren't around furniture and aren't interested.

Not sure where today is going to go. Do plan to work on my little sign for awhle, time to change my bedding and put away yesterday's laundry  Then of course, dog walk. Eventually I will get back to finishing up my spring cleaning. Going to be time to remove my plastic storm windows from my breezeway windows before long here. Ah, the nice thouoght of changing gears into another season, slow but sure. Have a great day all.

Good morning Sue & everyone that follows!

Sue, it's such a shame that Finn is acting up the way he is, but it's not fair to your girls. I sure hope your neighbor can take him in.

I took a break from the computer this weekend so I have a lot of catching up to do.

Yesterday I spent several hours at my parents house. They're both in their early 80's and both have their share of health issues. I've been cooking meals and taking them to their house or sometimes I prepare whatever I'm making in their kitchen. Last weekend, Dad asked if I would make them crabcakes, so crabcakes they got. After yesterday's lunch, they have enough leftovers for another couple meals. Their freezer was full of containers from other meals I've prepared, so they're good to go for awhile.

We have some wicked weather that could be moving into this area later today. We have a chance of hard rain, strong winds and damaging hail. Some areas of the state just got their electric back after being out all weekend from severe storms on Friday, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we don't get hit too hard.

I hope everyone's day is a good one.

Good Morning Sue and Irmi... another 85 day here in central Florida... have not seen my ankles in days... must put them up today...
I am sorry it has not worked out with the guest Sue... if it were your dog you would have to let them have their pecking order but without him being yours you are doing the best thing you can... I know the extra money was to be in your gas fund for the summer but there will be another way to do that...
Irmi you can come help me any time you want... seriously it is very good to know you are helping them in the best way you can... keep it up wonderful daughter!
Interesting facts about March:
March -- Mars' month

Middle English March(e)
Anglo-French March(e)
Old English Martius
Latin Martius "of Mars"
Latin Marti(s) "Mars" + -us (adj. suffix)
Latin Martius mensis "month of Mars"
Martius has always had 31 days.

March was the original beginning of the year, and the time for the resumption of war.

Mars is the Roman god of war. He is identified with the Greek god Ares.

My friend Jere came yesterday... he was suppose to come today so I did not have any food fixed so we ate tuna sandwiches, chips and blue berries.... he had beer yucki... I had my good diet root beer...
He will be back today and stay the night so I am making a huge pot of 15 bean soup and a pot of chili so he can have some good food to take with him... and we will have good eats today...
I may move my site today as the sun beats down and it is not good in the bad heat... who would have thought I would be saying bad heat in February of all things...
Everyone may the wind be at your back if you are traveling or what ever you are doing...

Well it is snowing once again. I will admit I love the snow and like getting my snow fix off and on throughout the winter. We need this system to stop and let the rain come.
Mostly so my son can have his car winched out of the ditch. The tow trucks refuse to come out here until the roads clear. He is fine and is just staying in town with one of his friends. I transferred him some extra $ from savings, so he can get bus passes and help with food, etc. I can say it was good learning experience for him. He has a small car with front wheel drive, so it does well in the snow. He just hit a patch of ice/slush and slid right off the road.

I do not mind when it snows for a couple of days, we get to play and then it goes away...that is mostly because poor husband hates the snow..and man does he get grumpy in snowy weather. I tease him..I say..who was the one that said "yes" to moving here. Poor guy married someone who likes the snow..so even when we retire-retire. I still have to some where..I want 4 seasons...not one.

Well I need to get kids up and figure out rather or not i want to go into town.

Have the day off today, so will get my long list of things to do, started soon. I have Thursday and Friday off too, so I'm thinking of taking a day trip somewhere one of those days.

It is sunny and back in the 60's here in SoCal today. :D

Hope you all have a great day!

Good morning and good afternoon too.

Honestly and truly I was here before morning was gone but got seriously sidetracked reading other stuff soooooooo.

Sun is out and it's hardy this morning. Snow is melting at a good rate which makes me excited! Well except for all the mud and muck that's gonna be out there to wade thru. :x But it will dry up so, bring on the sunshine!! WooHooooo Can ya'll tell that I'm ready for Spring?

Not much going on here today. Only thing that's really on the agenda is showers, cleaning the bathrooms and calling Thetford about the toilet. ~sigh~ Turned on the water yesterday to do dishes and the dang toilet didn't drip a drop into the bowl all day??? Grrrrrr, go figure. Sure as heck as soon as we would want to leave the blasted thing would dribble and not shut off. So the heck with it, not gonna mess around with that old toilet.

OK, still swilling coffee here and it's really hitting the spot. I'm off to read and catch up some more. Hope everyone has a super day and keeps all their pieces and parts intact!!!

Love to all

Good Afternoon, All!

I just got back from a nice long swim at my pool----I'm back in Orlando, and the wind is really picking up. Hopefully it will bring us some rain overnight or early tomorrow morning. We need rain desperately. Sure was nice to swim all afternoon, however. :) The kids and I had a really fun weekend, playing croquet, bocci ball, and trivial pursuit! It's nice to do things with family once in a while.

Don't forget RABBITS on March 1st-----either after midnight if you are still up. or first thing tomorrow morning! RABBITS must be the first word out of your mouth in order to have good luck all of March!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!
