GOOD MORNING ALL!
I see by my desktop thermometer that it's -10F. back at my northern home! I just took Molly out for her morning walkabout, and it feels pretty warm in this yard in Orlando. When I got back to my trailer the day before yesterday, I was shocked at how fast the green grass in Goog's yard and in those huge cow pastures had turned brown-----just a nip of frost, and POOF!----instant winter!
Perhaps I will be able to get my house Christmas lights put up today, as it should be much warmer than yesterday. I still need to get me a long outdoor extension cord, as the only place I can plug house lights in is in the garage. I might even be able to go to the Jacuzzi today and sit out in the sun for a bit!
I was wondering if any of you are coin collectors? They are now minting a new collection of state coins featuring landmarks and famous places from each state, in a limited edition. I took down a phone number where I can order 12 uncirculated Wyoming quarters (the first to be minted) along with one extra to display and touch and so on, and a free display box in which to store them all. They are charging 20 bucks for the lot, plus shipping and handling, of course, and a chance to reserve the next group. The U.S. plans to mint 5 states a year. Anybody have any feelings about this? I have no investments whatsoever, and I am a collector of everything, so was wondering if this would be a justifiably vital investment for my kids and grandkids down the line. It gives me a chance to collect something with value, perhaps? My father did this for my brother and me, and I have a bunch of uncirculated coins in my house at home.
I hope things are somewhat warming up for the rest of you campers with heat problems and frozen water and whatever-----frozen bones, perhaps? By tomorrow, it's forecast to be in the 70s again down here, before plummeting to frosty conditions as the next cold front advances upon us. I sure do hope this is not a predictor of what this winter is to be like for our country this year, but I will be only too happy to suffer through it down here rather than deal with sub-zero temps and heavy snows at home. For me, these readings in the 30s and 20s are feeling not bad at all!
The kids are coming up here after work this afternoon, for supper and then we will go out to their favorite local bar to play some pool and listen to some music. The owners of the place are good friends of theirs, and they are looking forward to seeing them again. Yes, we will take a cab! It's just a couple of blocks from here, so not too expensive. I bought some Stouffer's vegetable lasagna to heat in my oven (a treat for me, as I do not have a stove or oven at home!)and I also have my chicken soup I made. I will pick up some garlic bread to add to the dinner.
Have a happy Friday, everyone.
