Warm up Tuesday (Finally)

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Warm up Tuesday (Finally)

Postby OutandAbout » Tue Jan 12, 2010 8:50 am

God Morning Ladies.

It's finally warming up around here. Should be in the mid 40's today and sunny. YEA.

Have many errands to do today, bank, food shopping, visit laundramat for large quilts (my best old girl had another accident), DMV to renew vehicle registrations and possible the car wash. I know, what an interesting exciting life.

That's my schedule, now it's your turn to share your day. Breakfast items are on the table, plus gallons of coffee brewing. Dig in and enjoy the start of your day.

GOOD MORNIN' SISTAHS!

This is Wicked, postin for Echo. She's drivin and wants to do a coffee post. We're runnin along I-10, just a few miles from the LA state line. Spent the nite in a rest area Lee, Florida. 50 degrees feels really good. Gonna stop and see a certain sistah (aka one of the godmothers to a certain set of Doofus Twins) in sw LA. Lookin forward to getting farther west and will welcome the warmer temps. Echo was powerful hungry this mornin so we stopped to have waffles and eggs at Waffle House. Just went over the LA state line, still have a ways to go yet. Echo says for y'all to have a great day, be safe and to take care of yourselves!

Having a Grumpy Tuesday. Too much to do and not enough time to do it. One of my students has been cheating on his homework and I found out today. He's miserable because he's having a hard time keeping up and doesn't want to miss recess to fix his work. It seems to be common here to keep kids in for recess as punishment. I hate it. I promised him that I would never make him miss recess to do his work. Since I'm only the assistant I don't always get to make the rules, but missing recess is something that doesn't make sense to me.

The one thing keeping me going is the thought of camping this weekend. Three day weekend and "warmish" temps. Good enough for me.

Morning...
I really should not be on here I have a ton of things to get done today, before I leave for San Diego tomorrow. Grandpa's service's are on Friday.
I will actually be there a entire week. I will not have internet there. Unless I manage to find a internet cafe or something. I believe I am staying with my mom at Grandpa's house. He did not have computer or anything like that.

Prayers for family....things are really tense and the issues are starting. I know my mom was really upset with one of her sisters, Honestly it doesn't surprise me, the one sister that is causing the issues. She has always been the center of the universe, me first, type of person.

Prayers for Dh and the kids...honestly I have never ever been gone for more then 1-2 nights. Even then I usually had one or more of the kids with me.
DH is taking vacation time. We opted for that vs canceling many of the kids daytime events and stuff, most therapy appts, co-op classes, play at the theatre.

I better get going and get the bills paid, checkbook balanced and finish packing.

Mom to 3 boys and 2 girls

2007 Crossroads Sunset Trail
DH has 2004 Dodge Durango
Not that I am great at keeping this updated...but I try..

Will be thinking of you as you journey through the next week and maybe your DH at home with the kids..... About the recess issue...educators need to remember the importance of physical exercise on brain development and processing.....there is a reason healthy kids run and jump and go crazy after sitting quietly in a classroom working...... :) Can you tell I worked with OT's forever and dealt with sensory processing issues....movement is VERY important.

It's a little chilly here in Blythe today (probably down in the high 60s (don't shoot!), so I've been doing some Internet Movie Database searches for information about the nineteen old Western movies I'll be hosting at Parry Lodge In Kanab, Utah in a few months. It's so much fun to let people in on things they've never heard about the movies and the stars of those films.

David fixed a good breakfast of fried eggs, potatoes, and bacon, and I added broiled grapefruit, using one of the delicious pink grapefruits we bought at a stand yesterday - 8 for $1.00. Last night I attempted cooking ribs in the microwave, but they turned out a little too well done, so he went shopping today for a charcoal grill.

A nice quiet day. I might even go take a shower if I can budge from this RV. So nice having electricity again and being able to take the chill off with my little electric heater.

Boy, do I EVER agree with you! Recess is a very important part of a person's education, as, if they don't learn the social skills necessary to make friends and all the give and take skills necessary to live in a civilized society, all the academic crap is worthless. Stick to your guns, Ladyhawk! I had forgotten you are a teacher too. [color]

And Tina says:

You both are RIGHT on! Why, oh WHY don't educators EVER seem to take these oh-so-important facts about human development into consideration when they are making up policies?
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Almost, still an assistant (for the past six years) and in school to be a teacher. But, sometimes I worry about having the strength to keep it up. I hear teachers screaming at the kids in the hall, "Why are you crying? Stop it! You're too old to cry!" Or get on them because they're not "on task." I have smart, funny, kind, creative kids in my class who are treated like outcasts because they aren't the teacher's idea of what a student should be. (Well, let's put them on medication because they obviously have trouble concentrating.) Yes, they have trouble concentrating because they have tutoring after school, then they're off to basketball practice, they eat dinner in the car and get to bed after 11p.m. Their parents get them up at 5a.m. because they have to be at work. Maybe the kid is just tired and stressed out.

There's my five second rant. Hopefully, you're all in bed right now.

Drove to Pompano Beach on Tuesday to meet up with my sister from AZ so we could Aunt sit while my cousin took a well deserved week vacation. Know what you mean about kids needing to move around. I guess I was lucky with all my principals. They let me do my thing,so over the years I would take the kids outside for all types of learning: like measuring a fence, balancing on a teeter tot, counting by 2's etc, while walking, hopscotch for adding/multiplying, looking for letters/words while walking around a big table, etc. Didn't have any assistants, but would have loved either of you-right up my alley.
Well, off to buy groceries while my sister stays to entertain. carold
