I have not done it, but understand the basic principles...... People have hidden items according to longitude and latitude.....Your task/hobby/fun is to use those marks to hike around and find what has been hidden.... People have hidden stuff in State Parks, wilderness areas, in cities parks..... the possibilities are endless. When you do successfully find the "treasures" I think you add your signature to the list inside, some people add items to the box, etc.....and re-bury the item for someone else to find..... I think you can get lists of locations at on-line sites.....

Now, someone who has actually don't it can pipe in.

It's lots of fun. I've been geocaching for 3-4 years and really enjoy it. If you've got a GPS that will give you coordinates you can do it. Here's a link to the premier geocaching website:

Nick Russel of the Gypsy Journal talks about this. His wife couldn't get him to exercise, even walk, but he will hike for miles for some "worthless plastic trinket", according to him.

This is very interesting. I always thought it meant searching for rocks and things as in geologist. I may try this someday...I checked out that website and there are several hidden not far from my home. Just hope there is no poison ivy around!!
