Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Coffee's on, its Thursday

Postby avalen » Thu Sep 17, 2009 6:42 am

Good morning ladies
I'm up early, slept good and I'm ready to start the new day.
Learned out to request field trips for the dept yesterday, its easy as long
as the computer cooperates, too many people get on there and try to
download stuff they aren't supposed to so the secretary posted a notice
on it, and its having a memory problem so the tech guy is going to fix
that.
We're finally getting some nice weather, it was only 97 yesterday but its
supposed to get back up to 103/4 over the weekend, then it will come
down again. Won't be long and I'll have to dig out my jacket  and put
the shorts away.
Off to start the day, coffee is ready and a little toast, and some raspberry
squares are on the table. Barbzee left those yesterday for us, recipe is in
the recipe section.
Have a great day and be safe.

Good Morning...
Wow it has bee awhile since I made it to morning coffee. We did get 90% of the decluttering finished and the basement is semi-finished...it is finished enough to get the items from storage stowed in there. Still have more work do...but I ran out of time. So I guess I will finish it up at some point in the future.

School is into full swing. The daughter started at the public high school here 2 weeks ago. For the most part things are going great. We are dealing with a screwed up math system they have....where there is not much we can do...but I am going to write to the dist. curricula person...as the her math teacher, guidance counselor, and even the principal...yes they all discussed the concern I brought up...but none of them had could offer the answer. The teacher I spoke to on the phone shares my frustration, and I can only imagine how much more difficult it is on her level. I guess I should explain the issue. The school District here, like many across the country...believe that in order for kids to succeed they need to get to college and they need higher level math skills. So one change (this one is state wide) They have to have 3 math credits and up to ALg 2 completed to graduate. The other change and they started this transition a few years ago..this is the next to the last year of the transition. They have moved pre-alg, and algebra to the middle school...which do not get me wrong I think some kids are ready for that. In doing this they made Algebra 1...a 2 year program...ie we have 1A which covers chp 1-5 and 1B that covers chp 6-10. Now last year at the High school they still offered a 1 year algebra course. This year they dropped the one year Alg course and only offer part 1B...bascially back when I was in school..it is the second semester of Alg. Now the issue that this created...DD needed to be in Alg 1 she had not done that yet. The only class they had was 1B, we are blessed with a teacher that is willing to tutor and help her and I am working on finding some things...hopefully computer based games and programs and such that can help her build that stronger foundation.

So anyway when I spoke with the teacher..she hates this...what happens is you have a group of kids "out of district" is the term they use...it is made of home schoolers, private schoolers and new transfer students...that may of not had Alg 1A and get placed in 1B as that is the lowest math class they offer. Then add into this that poor middle schooler who struggled or even failed 1A...they find themselves in 1B. The teacher said she warned the dist, she is on the the dist math council team thingee...that I will be cc my letter to...in fact she brought up this very concern when they talked about dropping the ALg 1 year course at the high school.

So I have that letter that I will be working on today.

Football season is in full swing. DS has team has played their first two games and they won both the first game they won 40-0 and the second 46 to 8.
So DH was telling me the coach has now put together what he calls the "white offense" basically a 3rd string line. He is playing in the North Cascade Youth Football League, it is a more competitive league with a longer season and playoffs.

The rest of the family is all doing well.

I will close for now before this turns into a novel .

Morning
I tried posting last night but my cell phone internet froze seems ok
this morning.
Spent my first night in Little Missy! We are all hooked up at a state
park only about 30 mi from my home, doing a shake- down trip. All went
well. I did forgot to flip the breakers at the elect. post and noticed
my house battery was down. A very nice guy across the way asked if I
had remembered to flip those. So lesson learned. Also new power surger
doesn't fit well as the elec. box has a lip that prevents the plug from
going in all the way.
Rained last evening/night. No TV signal, forgot to bring DVDs. DD/GDs did
stop by and brought me a puzzle and cards.

Good morning gang!

YAY for Lenora who is on her first camping trip. Are you taking pictures? I'm so happy for you.

I'm just checking in quickly from school,... one of the perks of monitoring the high school computer lab is getting keyboard time when there is a free computer. :D

I hope everyone has a great day!

There's always a learning curve Lenora. One of my worst mistakes was hooking up my water line and then yacking to a neighbor. After a while I noticed water pouring out of my rig. I had left a faucet open and the holding tank had filled. Only did that once!

..

Lenora, I'm so glad your shakedown went/is going well! Are you in love yet, or a little overwhelmed?
