TUESDAY, 5/6 Warming up

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

TUESDAY, 5/6 Warming up

Postby OregonLuvr » Tue May 06, 2025 10:18 am

Well our warm weather is starting to reappear off and on. Supposed to be 85 today. Then fairly warm for the next several days and then back to "showers" that we may or may not get. I just dont want it to warm up too much You know me, I like perfect weather which is 70's. Yeah good luck with that.
I went to the plant place yesterday but they did not have very good looking tomato plants. They were still very small so I passed. So will go out this morning and plant my beets, beans and my onion sets. Will do it this morning before the sun comes out in full force. Then taking a few things to the donation center and while I am out will stop at Home Depot and Lowes and see what they have if anything.

Martha I get my Blackened Salmon at Costco. I think you can only get it at Costco. Sounds like you had a fun camping trip with so many camping. I miss camping at times. But still so many memories that will have to do me. So just finished breakfast so time to get this day started.

Was about to start tuesday but glad you did it first. Got a lot of good sleep yesterday and last night so I feel better. Barely above freezing right now but will be warm where I am going so going to put on shirts to dump tanks and unhook. Heavy sweatshirt as well but will take that off for driving. Long drive today so better get moving.

Afternoon or, has been a pleasant day in spite of the prediction of rain and thunderstorms. Repotted a maiden hair fern my Mother’s Day present from number one daughter. Sadly, I killed the other one I neglected it didn’t repot it, and it died.

Sandi, you need more information before you can make intelligent decisions. I think there is a longer recovery after hip surgery and you would not be able to get on the floor and take care of your pet the way you plan. Maybe you can contact the doctor that would do the hip surgery and get some information about after surgery care so you would know what you’re up against. Sorry but I’m a planner.lol

Shirl, I agree with you 100%. This morning I had an appointment and they asked a lot of questions regarding my pain. After being there for 1/2 hour and reviewing my MRI, she told me she did not believe my pain was from my hip but rather from my spine. Kind of scary when you get two different ideas of what’s causing the pain, but I tend to agree with what she said. So, I’m glad surgery is “probably” not in the plan right now. I have to wait almost a month to get a cortisone shot on June 3 and I’ll be anxious and hopeful there will be positive results.

Thank you to those who provided ideas. I’ll let you know how things progress.

Well, my post from yesterday disappeared (operator sir merror) so hopefully will do better now.

Sandi, both of those possible causes of your pain at scary, but I hope they can find the real culprit so you can figure the best plan for you. I know, in my case, no stairs, or at least very few stairs, are all I'm intending for any living spaces currently or in my future. But moving isn't always a good option, either.

Ginger picked me up today and we went to Sierra Vista where we were trying to find a place for her to get a walker that is the kind she would prefer and that her insurance will cover. Thursday we have errands in Tucson and will include checking out a place or two there as well as a couple places I need to check out for other purposes, and we'll have lunch at Portillo's. Yum. Barbie you are more than welcome to join us for lunch but we can't give an exact time. I'm sending you a pm.

TY is giving me the evil eye, past his dinner time, so off I go.

Sandi, why are they making you wait so long for a shot? The injection I got in my knee and shoulder helped a lot. I still have pain in my upper arm. That could be from a tear but I wold have to have an MRI to check that. Last year I started having pain in the side of my foot and up my ankle. I thought it was probably my planters facetious acting up again. I finally went to a doctor and he said my pain was coming from my sciatic nerve and there was nothing wrong with my foot. Pain seems to be a strange thing.

We have been under a tornado watch all day. So far most of the rain has gone North of here. There is still a lot of rain between here and Texas that is training Northeast. I had a meeting tomorrow night that has been cancelled and schools have been cancelled tomorrow too. They must be expecting more bad weather tomorrow.

Excellent point, Martha. I have had such shots, and it takes almost no time at all to give it to you. Why make you wait in pain for almost a month???????

had a slice of the pie and it's tasty... miss that hint of almond though so didn't remember being out of it...
I watched a "reel" on FB Judy and thought of you ... guess this guy that starts out with something to the effect of you mean I could have done this for 40 years??? in this case he says he is a mosquito magnet and he watched something that said to put 10-14 drops of vanilla in a spray bottle of water spritz it on and should be no mosquito's he tried it it worked for him... but one actually has to wonder... like I am going to try the egg peeling hack and see if it works... we have no mosquito's yet so not able to test it... but hey what can it cost???
Sandi that is good news although I am with others why do you have to wait that long for the shot?? to get an appointment to have it??? although having watched how my brother in law recovered from his hip replacement as well as my nephew I actually forgot that he had hip replacement... yes there is things you couldn't do immediately but there is hope beyond the surgery ... however so glad that you at this time won't need to ... it is strange how pain will manifest it's self... hopefully they will know what to do to help yours...
Beth it sounds like you had a good day and then to get to have your favorite sandwich
good luck with the plants Karen
Shirl there is a plant of mom's that I swear I've been trying to kill for 3 years and it's still living not well but it's still living it needs to be replanted however the part close to the pot is just stems so in reality it needs to be rerooted... and given that I don't know what to do with all her and my plants it just might be tossed... some one the other day was saying that one plant was dead nope!!! it just bloomed .... my dd thinks it is ugly but it has the prettiest blooms check out orchid cactis (spell check isn't helping me) I really need to figure out what to do with them mine of course I will take with me and a couple of mom's can't take them all one is a big heavy one can't think of its name one of those that don't need a lot of water has long pointy don't know if they are leaves or stems or what??? she has a couple of spider plants orchids a philo a shifflera and a rubber tree plant yep a few but probably fewer than in the past
friends came over and put my outdoor stuff in the car sometime this week I will take it over to dd #3 I miss seeing it up ... they also got the stuff off the shelves in the closet in mom's bedroom so I can go through that then will have to pull out the stuff from the floor of the closet ... some of which I put there so it was out of the way...
almost have the floor vacuumed and need to run the dishwasher
you all have a great day

Sandi, I have been following all your health activities. I think you are very wise to go slow at this point. NO surgery until you understand COMPLETELY what is going on. How is Abby/bindi doing. I’m hoping more comfortable.
My life continues the same. This week a BIG softball tournament so I’m content.

For those of you who mentioned you are dealing with pain and wonder why they don't give cortisone shots more frequently the answer from the Mayo Clinic website says
'they restrict the number and timing of cortisone shots is due to possible side effects'. https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-proced ... c-20384794. When I want medical information I go to either the Mayo Clinic or the Cleveland clinic. I use Google but I am also careful of what sites I get information from. As to alternative methods locally I see a acupuncture person who is also a medical doctor and a massage therapist who is amazing. You would need to carefully screen their references if you decide to see either. The homeopath I work with in Brazil was able to treat my nerve pain successfully. In Brazil one has to be a medical doctor before you can be a homeopath. I work with her over WhatsApp.
