Sunshine Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunshine Friday

Food Morning. Beautiful sunny day here in. Orthern Michigan. With the snow on the ground, it’s really bright out there. Currently temp is 38°
Been a little busy this morning with odds and ends. Cleaned my bedroom closet, so other than the kitchen cabinets, the house upstairs is done. Got my DP hung up on the wall and realigned a metal art design on my living room wall. Got my next DP out and all ready to start on that. Will probably take a walk with the dogs this afternoon. Heading to town later for fish fry at church. Just a nice leisurely type day.

Wind, rain, and eaglets!

Postby BarbaraRose » Fri Mar 07, 2025 11:46 am

Good morning gals!

Yesterday was really windy all day so I stayed inside. I haven't had enough sleep lately so I decided it would be a good day to get caught up with that, so I napped off and on all day. Got about 3-4 hours of good sleep!

Got woken up this morning to the trailer rockin' and rollin' from the high winds! They were predicting rain all day too. I checked the radar and saw that Phoenix is getting hit with a lot of heavy rains this morning but not much on the radar for here. However, just before 9am it started raining pretty good here for about a half hour and has now stopped. Wind has died down now as well.

I will stay home today and get caught up on some things around here. There is a big art fair north of Tucson this weekend that Julie wants to go to. I will see what day she wants to go, so I can go by myself the other day. When I go with them, I don't get to see much. I went to the same one last fall when I first came out here and it had a lot of really cool stuff but I wasn't able to actually stop to look at things close up because they kept moving along. So I want to go one day alone to be able to browse more. Most of it is very expensive but I still like to look at it. I get ideas from some of it for what I can do on gourds.

The steps are scheduled to get here in 2 weeks but I checked the tracking info and it is already in L.A. as of last night, so should get here within a few days, I would think.

I got a new indoor/outdoor thermometer and got the outside units put up the other day. Well, I think I got one too close to the furnace vent since the temp on the gauge goes up really high when the furnace is on! Oops! Will have to move it over some.

The famous bald eagle pair, Jackie and Shadow up in Big Bear, CA (in the mountains NE of LA), laid 3 eggs a few weeks ago. There are 2 cameras focused on the nest. Last year they laid 3 eggs but none of them hatched which was so sad to watch them sit on them for way longer than when they should have hatched. Well, yesterday, 2 of them hatched and then the third one overnight! Everyone is very happy! Check out the live stream... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4-L2nfGcuE

Hope you all stay safe, warm, and don't blow away!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Good morning. kinda chilly outside but the sun is just now coming out 34/57 no rain today. Was just puttering around the house today. Dusted then sent Henry to vacuum. Not much else to report. Need to check out the grocery sales as I need a few things so that decides if I go inside the store or I order pickup. Going inside Winco the cheapest store unless things keep jumping in my cart.

Going out to lunch tomorrow with my Handymans wife Ann. He is in Reno so told him I would check on her. We played Bunco on Wed so decided we would have a lunch date while he was gone. They are a nice couple so it will be fun to get out of the house. I have a couple of errands to run while we are out so that will all work out. Then made a plan to go to Medford to another friends house for a few days on Wednesday since the weather is okay right now. She wants me to help her buy a new phone, she hates hers LOL most likely pilot error on her part but it is older so will get her all fixed up. Will get some good Mexican food while I am there. Then plan to pick up a Jersey Mikes sandwich on my way home Friday. We dont have one here and theirs are really good.

Better get my butt back to work because it will soon be lunchtime.

Just saw you and Sue both posted. I am watching the eaglets too. So fascinating to watch off and on during the day. Looks mighty cold up there but Jackie is doing a good job keeping them warm, and better weather will be coming. The third one is trying hard to get out, hope it comes out soon.

Chilly today with another dust storm. These seem to come in two-day episodes with today being the second day and a little less intense than the first day. Next several days should be fine. What is really weird is that about an hour ago, in the height of the wind storm, we had a few drops of rain. Not enough to wet the ground or make puddles, but based on what I can see on the windows on the windward side of the motorhome, the main effect of this rain was to turn the dust on that side to a sort of slight slurry that has now dried! So I will need to hose it off or find a large vehicle car wash somewhere on my way north on Wednesday.

The dust was making me cough a lot yesterday, and in spite of my efforts to close up everything inside, I could still smell the dust and find light dust on things. Then I finally remembered that in October I had bought an air purifier in case I got into smoke in the northwest or wherever. A few years ago, when I got caught in smoke it kicked off the asthma I had not needed treatment for in years, so I did not want that to happen again. Anyway, it suddenly occurred to me that it would work for dust, so when the wind calmed down at sunset, I got out and brought it inside from storage. It is running now, but not sure yet how well it is working. Will tell over time.

Supposed to rain again in about an hour for a whopping 10-15 minutes!

It was windy, but kept temps OK morning into early afternoon so got a couple good walks in. When the wind went away, the heat and humidity kicked in and our last walk was much shorter. I had something out of the freezer to cook for dinner but came home sweating from our last shorter walk and made a smoothie and that became dinner. I'll have to fix what I thawed tomorrow.

I watched the last episode of the US version of The Traitors today and realized the UK third season is available for streaming in the US now so am watching a few episodes of it tonight. And while I've liked all versions and seasons I've watched, so far I'm liking this UK version the best.

Sue, you did a good job framing your bear picture.

Sandi, sorry for what they put you through every few years.

Yesterday I started mowing with the new mower. I got about half the yard mowed and started having trouble with the controls. I called the shop and they sent someone to pick it up or work on it this morning. The guy was able to fix it and he brought my small mower back. I got Luna's yard mowed so I'm sure she is glad that the grass isn't touching her behind. lol Finished mowing the rest of the yard. All the dust and grass set off an allergy and my nose has been running ever since. I finally took a pill a little while ago.

I had to go sign some farm papers at the Dept of Agriculture so went to the local grocery store for a few things. The small avocados that were 79 cents are now $1.50 and Jumbo eggs are $12.09. I should have picked up the last 3 bags of mulch but decided to give my arm a rest. It has been hurting from my shoulder to my elbow.

The little store near me was selling boiled crawfish today so I picked up an order. They weren't as good as their's was last year. It was a little too salty and now I can't get enough to drink. I will probably be up and down all night going to the bathroom.

I keep hearing that we are going to have bad winds but they haven't gotten here yet. There's a 70% chance of rain tomorrow.

It was a cloudy/sunshiny day more cloudy than sunshiny though... I went to the grocery stores Albertson's and Smith's spent more than enough at both stores... didn't get all the mushrooms that the recipe called for but boy was the soup good... it called for 11/2 lbs that is a lot of mushrooms :o I forgot how much they shrink down so sent a text to dd and asked her to pick up some for the dish that I am making on Sunday she is coming in a supper as well to do laundry but didn't think she would spend the night... I don't cook with mushroom's a lot this week is very unusual... the lady that I sent the soup over too text me and said that was the best soup she had ever had... big claim but it was really good... I've never eaten homemade cream of mushroom soup nor even made it so very glad that I chose a good recipe I thought I had saved back enough for another meal haha turned out I should have used it up it would have it in the bowl... as it is perhaps 1/3 of a cup... guess I will have it with the salad that is in the fridge
basically my day going to the store and preparing soup...
somewhere a screen saver started up probably from an update... it cycles through a lot of pictures... today the one that came on was an island in the middle of a lake in Wisc. think it's called Cana Island perhaps almost heart shaped with the snow that is around it... pretty pretty
sounds like a lot of you have had lots of wind. but sounds like you have also been safe ....
Martha it is too bad that they changed their recipe... we went to a place in WA that dd had been to before that she loved got the same thing could hardly eat it.. we have put it on the not to return to list... don't know why they change a good thing
laid back days are good Sue
Sounds like you had a great day as well Karen and Beth
I am watching NCIS early days Tony and Ziva are on it going to watch Blue Bloods next must be early days as well as Tom Sellect has dark hair at least according to the ad
good that you got a bit o rest today Barbie
I don't think a person can conquer dust in the rv's Judy but good luck with it
you all have a great day

Hi Barbie!

I have also been watching that eagle cam for a while now. It is amazing that the chicks can survive in that nest - the entire nest seems to be covered in two or three inches of snow - with Mom (or Dad) huddled down on top of them, the parent's bodies covered in snow also.

Hope little #3 has a chance. Odds probably aren't too good, with the two other chicks a few days older than this new hatchling. He/she will have to be a fighter to get fed enough to survive against the older, larger, chicks.

We shall see, I guess!
