Last Saturday of February

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Last Saturday of February

Good Morning. Another week over. And the Month will be too by end of next week.

It’s cloudy this morning, after 2 days of beautiful sunshine. We actually made it up to 32 yesterday. Sun was warm. Didn’t even need my gloves on and had a light layer under my coat. Really enjoyed our walk, with the green spruce and pines, nice white snow and that blue sky. Perfect winter day.

I was able to get some of the snow down from the front of the garage roof, so satisfied with that. Also ran the blower over the drive to clean up. The bit of snow from Tuesday night. So the big blower can have a rest for awhile now. Went into town for fish fry and got my truck washed while I was up there. Happy about that. Had to wait in line for awhile, but wanted to get it done.

Irmi, that was so nice of you to help out Bill. I’m sure he is grateful after all he has been through. But having that suicide that close is a bit unnerving. So bad for the family or who ever was there. You mentioned about not being able to lift stuff as we get older. So true. There are something’s like 5 gallon gas cans I have issues with, so bought some 2 1/2 gallon ones. Works for me. Our muscles get weaker as we age, that’s why they recommend strength training or exercises to keep them strong. I mentioned before that my keeping after all this snow is my gym  Wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to do what I did yesterday, but after a short bit, I could feel my muscles responding, so kept on going. They got a good workout.

Judy, the crowded trails and speedsters are still around although I see a lot of people just cruising along nicely. The Iron Belle or North Central Statue Trail parallels the main Highway (27) here, so I see a lot of sleds. Weekends are busiest time. With the designs of today’s sleds, riding g is very comfortable and most seem to go around 50-55. Some open up more if nobody else is around. I think the more speedy ones are the same people to drive cars too fast. The majority are in the 30’s age category.

Barbie, glad your new bulbs seem to be working for you. Shelia, sounds like you are making progress with inventory. Somethings aren’t necessary and can just be tossed of course. All they are interested in, is stuff that’s of monetary value. Haven’t heard from O’Sharon of late. Hope all’s okay on her end.

Not getting into much today. Will run vac and give my bathroom a quick cleaning. Maybe a dog walk this afternoon. Little bookwork to do and think it will be a DP day.

Morning Sue and All, I it’s 32° and sunny. Jello weather forecast said high 40 and 59’s next week. Guess I will just stick to looking out the window each day. lol. Since my old air fryer was old the new one is a challenge. Old timers hate change and low vision makes me cuss. I have nothing else to do so will get it done. Sue smaller gas cans work. It was hard for me to learn several more trips and carry smaller loads was safer. Good exercise too. Found a video of how to make a book storage out of an old book. Think I can do that. Youngest great grandson will be 3 yrs in a couple months . Will be a secret place to hide his treasures. I have a silver dollar to start. Such fun. Be safe

Sounds like a fun project Shirl. Maybe a magnifying glass would help you with air fryer controls.

Sue, I have magnifying glasses in every room. Just tried fries in air fryer was a disaster. The panel does not light up bright enough for me to operate fryer. Thankfully my mind still works so I memorized the panel from the Manuel. I can not see in dim light or bright so flash light did not help .Just ordered tiny domed glow in the dark stickers to place on flat unlit button on panel. I love Amazon. lol

Afternoon ladies. Shirl, I've had to find ways around the markings on the air fryer I have here in the tt. I've got much memorized but am thinking about relabeling and so I think you've got a great idea. I have 4 controls at the very top and they are labeled above them. I have this where the microwave above the stove once was. I'm short. Sometimes I get my step stool out and use a flashlight. Maybe I should take a picture and keep it on my counter. I think I'll try that next. I guess a lot and often overcook but I prefer things crispy so it doesn't stop me from eating anything. So far. It's been close.

I'm so looking forward to temps rising and seeing the sun tomorrow. I need to fill one of my propane tanks. Didn't expect to be using the furnace and have used it a lot! Still love my heated throw.

Time to get cold and wet again as Ty is at the door.

Good afternoon. Had a busy morning. A drive north up to Eugene to meet Laura at a diner we like up there for breakfast. Last time we were there it was with Claudia when she was here. Then we kicked around Eugene for a couple of hours and we were home by 12:30 as it was halfway for both of us. I am not used to taking a shower at 5:15 it was brrrr chilly when I got out. Had a couple cups of coffee, took the dog out again and headed north at 6:30. We pretty much got there at the same time. Met at 8am. So a very fun morning, I got out of the house and so did she LOL

Shirl sometimes I have to take a picture of stuff and then enlarge it on my phone LOL I dont know who they think can read that little tiny print but it sure isnt me.
Weather was good for my drive north but BIG rain is heading our way. Temps are good 61 here right now and cloudy. I hit a few sprinkles on my way home but didnt last long and no rain here at all yet. Sue glad you are having a break in the weather, I am sure it is still gorgeous at your place. I love to look at the snow but that is as far as it goes ha ha I am really more of a fair weather person but I do hate wind more than rain. Irmi I would say you have had quite the adventure this week. Not all that pleasant either. Sorry your friend is having so many issues so it is wise he is heading to someplace with support. Barbie glad you got your lights the way you want them. Some of those LED light are like "glory hallelujah" I like the warm lights best.

So I have changed into my sweats and sweatshirt and parked in my recliner with a dog warming my legs and my heated throw on which she loves until she gets hot then she gets down and goes in her own bed. Nothing planned for this afternoon. Think I will tackle my taxes tomorrow. I want to get them done and gone.

Speaking of hard to see buttons. My truck has small buttons for heat, A/C, fan/ seat Heaters etc. etc. that are black with small white icons. In a black dashboard, that are impossible to see while driving. Fortunately the dashboard touch screen displays the picture of what’s on and what it is set to except for the seat heater as long as I have it on that setting. But even so, requires looking to make sure you hit the right thing. The seat heater button is down next to the temp control with three micro size red lights that are impossible to see. So I’ve had to memorize the three pushes from high to low. There is also a row of flat black switches foe emergency flashers, and various things like lane control, traction control, turning off the auto engine stop/start feature etc with impossible to read icons as well. Talk about driver distraction. There’s too much technology on today’s vehicles. Poor design on the Chevy trucks far as I’m concerned. I don’t like it.

It's raining again so I'm kind of afraid to post again and have trouble.

I decided to go to Walmart. I only had 6 things on my list and still managed to spend $180. I almost never go to Walmart and not buy dog and cat food. I thought about picking up some boiled crawfish but the line was wrapped around the parking lot. Decided to pick up some Chinese food at the buffet. It's really a Vietnamese restaurant. We got a big Vietnamese population after the war. It kept sprinkling off and on but I made it home before it really stared to rain. It was 48 during the day and now it 49 so guess it's going to warm up overnight.

My air fryer is getting old and I hate to think about getting a new one that is harder to operate. Mine is really simple. I have an instant pot and gave up trying to figure that out.

Shirl, I had an uncle that gave us silver dollars when we were little. I sure wish I had kept them.

I should probably go to bed so I can get up early. I have that dinner in Lafayette tomorrow. Hope the rain is over in the morning.

a quite day decided to get rid of old stuff hanging around... in the course of reaching for something that I thought was well don't remember what anyway I knocked a container off the board that is sitting on top of an empty aquarium lots of coins all over the floor mostly under the aquarium a horrible area to get to but remembered that mom had a grabber so I went and got it did you know that it has a magnet on it??? wonder if they all do??? and that you can't pick up coins with magnets? would have made it much easier  finally got them all picked up... she only had 5 various containers with coins in it... mentioned it to brother and sister in law my sil suggested that I put them in a small cup somewhere... I said that they would be too heavy to put in one thing she still suggested that I find something appropriate and put them in... so far I will just leave them the way they are maybe some day I will sort them out and count them but have other things to do... all this time I have thought she had two partial bottles of bubble stuff turns out one was empty... did start a thrift store box and did toss quite a bit away... a big box of envelopes they were so dusty that I just couldn't think of using them... still need to vacuum that area though it will happen some day but for the time being think I will go to a different area on Monday
I might talk myself into the linen closet but I've been trying to do that for 3 years it is daunting though.....
I have a air fryer so far it works well ... will hope that it stays that way ... I made steak fries in it mine has racks not the basket that I see others have so haven't experienced that although mine has a type of basket that fries can be made in I have just never used it... I really do like the potato logs that I make in it... like most of the stuff ... I make in it although I need to utilize it more. I still heat up the oven but more for casseroles ect ...
sounds like a nice morning out Karen
you all have a great day

Hitting on my pet peeves, too. Who decided that anything electric or electronic had to be black? And so many make the letters in black, too, or another dark color. I've been known to put silver fingernail polish on knobs to indicate where "off" is! My air fryer is also a toaster/oven/broiler so rather easy to use. I discovered frozen fries or pizza cook just right at 8-10 min. and makes them not taste like frozen stuff. I have 3 crock pots (yes, 3) and one has the dial go from low to med to high and another is just the reverse. I have to get both a flashlight and magnifying glass to set them.

Oh, what fun it is to get old.
