SATURDAY FEB 1st

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

SATURDAY FEB 1st

Postby OregonLuvr » Sat Feb 01, 2025 9:03 am

Another month has rolled around, they come and go so quickly. Rain all day with a cold front coming down from Canada. Bless their Hearts. LOL I doubt we will get any snow accumulation so that is good. Right now we are pretty warm 43/48 so not much difference in temps today. Good do nothing kinda day. Going to clean the bathrooms today, (I always need ONE project a day to do) then going to veggie out and catch up on some of my shows I like to watch. I was happy High Potential is already renewed for next season. I haven't had a do nothing day for awhile and today will be a good day to do that.

Of course I didnt say Rabbits this morning, oh well what will be will be. It is Heartworm day so there is that. Martha I buy a pint of buttermilk and put it in the freezer so I have some when I need it. I also put a quart of milk in the freezer ya know just in case LOL Barbie glad you have found a good gourd class and would be great to hook up with a group in Tucson. Beth hope you get your sunuses under control sounds like you have alot of socializing to do LOL So far I have avoided any illness this season. Hope it continues. I am so ready for a short road trip but the weather has been holding me up. Either super foggy, rainy, cold so I lose my motivation then. I want to bop over to the coast just for the day, get some lunch, see the sights and come home. I am definitely getting cabin fever. I would go south to Medford but I dont want to go over those 4 passes in inclement weather. People drive so crazy it is scary.

OK, well time for a second cup of coffee, some breakfast soon, get dressed, clean the bathrooms and SIT. No shower needed today!!!! ha ha

Good morning Karen, Shirl, and all who follow.

Getting a nice bit of soaking rain here - not quite the major deluge that was predicted, but very welcome. First rain we have had since, I think, January 3rd. Possible flooding is predicted for my area, so I hurried up to renew my FEMA flood insurance, even though I am reading that FEMA may now be on the chopping block. I also have earthquake insurance on my home, earthquake insurance probably something not too many of our midwest to east coast members think too much about.

A flood is not too likely here in my town, even though I live about a mile from the river (my town is behind earth berm levies). On the other hand, there was a major flood here a few decades ago - downtown was under about ten feet of water, and many people perished. A woman I used to work with before I retired lost her brother in the flood.

So glad that the new officials in Washington are finally getting inflation - and the price of groceries - under control. In December I paid $5.25 for a dozen eggs at my local Winco. Yesterday I went into Winco paid $7.25 for that same dozen. Glad I don't eat many eggs - although I do cook with them.

Last August I decided to get my U.S. Passport renewed. Seemed like a good idea at the time, get 'er done before the coming election - I even decided to pay the extra fee so that my passport would be expedited. I was actually quite surprised when my passport arrived in less than ten days, instead of the two months or so quoted if the extra fees were not paid. Reading online this morning that Passport renewals have slowed to a crawl, often because paperwork has been "lost" by the Passport agency. People are being forced to miss their paid-in-advance overseas trips.

I said "Rabbits" last night (or make that early this morning) about 12:10 a.m. But I may have said to Joe "lets go to bed" a few minutes previous to that, but I can't remember. Hoping for a good month for all of you, anyway.

French toast with gen-u-ine maple syrup is calling me for breakfast. I usually just do cold cereal, but French toast for breakfast is sounding really good. Yum!

So, what's going on in your world?

Well, canceled plans to go to South Padre Island for a long beach walk today last night because of my sinuses and sinus headache. We decided we'd manage lunch close by today. Ha. My friend called this morning and canceled even that. She's also having spring yuck (runny nose and coughing). Yep it's spring allergy season in Texas. I switch between a few different over the counter meds as the same one never works every time. Last couple years weren't as bad but this one is a doozy.

Karen, that's good news regarding High Potential. I enjoy that show, too. Anne, it's always his to hear you're getting rain.

Where did January go.? It’s the first and I don’t have much news. We had a nice rain last week. Put out all the fires around here. Three of the fires were started at homeless encampments. One group has proposed what to me sounds like a very good solution to this problem. Sunrise Ranch. Have any of you heard of it? Of course getting a large piece of land is holding the solution up.
My heart was acting up. My doc increased my heart medication to three x’a day. Now he just upped it again. It’s been pretty good the last few days.
That’s the best I can do on news. Not much, but is does let you know “I am still hanging in.” Annie, I continue to follow the earthquake and volcanic news.

yesterday was one of those days where my schedule was way off right don't remember why but I didn't get on the computer till after 12 pm so read but didn't take time to post...
forgot to say RABBITS dd asked a question I answered oh well... there is always next month... I normally say it at midnight...
went and got the color put back in my hair (didn't take when it was put in this last week) it's not has bright as I'd hoped for but also know that the colors don't always take when put on gray hair and gray mine is!!!! so it was fun while I did it but guess those times are ended or perhaps it's the color I choose might try one more time with the blue/purple range and see what happens
my dd has been telling me about this group of women that she heads up that get together every so often (once a month or two) go to a eatery and get appetizers and desserts and share them... visit ect.... so she organized one for today the place we went to didn't have the appetizers so we got three selections plus desserts and all shared... got to try different things and visited... this place was a Italian bakery and crepe place also had a some pastas so we got a sweet, savory, and one pasta for the six of us more than enough and oh the desserts were yummy would go there again... so because dd was getting here hair done (color highlights ect) we were gone a long time... I was on my phone a lot and when I just looked at it it's at 50% unplugged since 10:30 or so ... sure glad I got the new battery
happy colors is working not sure if it's the wifi here or the battery although it had started working before the new battery...guess we will see when I get back to mom's
temps been in the 40's and rained a good percentage of the day
sorry you are feeling it Beth... hope the sinuses clear up
it sounds like a trip to the beach would be good Karen
Barbie hoping you enjoy your classes this weekend
Lyn sometimes it takes awhile to get the right amount of meds hoping this is a good fit for you
I think I will check back in later see if anyone else posts...
it is really hard to believe that it's another month...

Anne, good thing you renewed your passport before the election. Trump is trying to fire all the federal workers and he has no idea what they do for the country. If FEMA goes we should be able to reduce the amount we pay in income tax by the insurance we pay if we have to take care of ourselves. Most of the states that have the most disasters voted for him. I read where he made the Corp of Engineers release water at two dams to fight the fires. The water from there doesn't even go to LA and could have caused flooding. He doesn't know what he's doing. I noticed the other day that large eggs at Dollar General were $6. Today at Walmart Jumbo eggs were $5.66.

I went to Walmart and the few things I needed were $200. Of course, I always have to get cat food because I'm there. I still managed to forget 3 things I wanted. I picked up some Panera Potato Soup and had a cup for supper. It's very good.

Some of my camping friends are going to a state park not too far from here on the 6th. I decided to go and made reservations. At the rate it takes me to get ready to go somewhere I better start tomorrow.
