Sat the 14th

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sat the 14th

I didn't go out today so no BBD. I forgot that I had taken meat out of the freezer, so had to use it. And I had fixings for a salad that also needed to be used. Also more drizzly weather today but not as heavy so we've had a couple walks, hopefully one more to come. When I get back to AZ I need to find my small dehumidifier. I really need it here this winter. My gauge shows 80% in the tt right now. Too high. It's 75 degrees and 89% humidity outside right now.

I was going to say I'd trade weather with you Beth until I saw the 89% humidity. It has been in the 50's here with off and on rain since about 10:00 this morning. My neighbor who moved to Kansas is 'home' for a few days so we had our Christmas together last night. She likes to cook so when she makes soup she freezes some to bring for me as she comes back usually once a month. This time one was pureed cooked carrot and fennel you eat it hot with a little maple syrup and fresh orange juice on top. I was rather skeptical about carrot soup but it is very good. She also brought a chicken soup that I put in the freezer. I am not prepared for Christmas but then I never am so shouldn't stress over it.

I'm really enjoying Southern California's warm weather and sunshine. We went to town yesterday and did a ton of laundry, mostly mine, and did some wandering around. Found a couple of nice shops and are going back tomorrow to do more snooping. Today, I made bread, but mostly we just sat around. High today was 70 with no wind. Around 4 pm, as we were sitting, a roadrunner walked by. Did not seem in a hurry but wandered off before I could get a good photo.

Got the last of my Christmas gifts sent away to Ohio, and left all the gifts in Napa for that family. Will be back there is a few days. Then heading to Nevada and Arizona for a couple of months, so should be nice and warm there.

I had never heard of the Black Bear Diner. I looked on their web site and there aren't any in Louisiana.

I went to town to get the dog food I forgot yesterday and went by one of the daiquiri places to see if they had egg nog. They did but it's not as good as the one in Lafayette. The hospice monthly dinner is tomorrow so maybe I can remember to stop at the daiquiri place. We are going to Superior Grill. Superior Grill is a new restaurant that I have never been to. It must be good because every time I have passed it was full.

I made chili today to freeze and bring to the campout next week. I'm not much on chili but made a hot dog and put chili on it. It was good for a change. I made chili all the time for Harold so guess I got burnt out on it. BJ, it's nice of your neighbor to make soup for you. I found a mushroom soup at Walmart that I like. It's the Walmart brand in the cold section.

It was partly sunny today and 75. It was windy so didn't feel that warm. I didn't think we were going to get any rain but I went out with Luna a little while ago and it was misting.

Martha in the cold sections around the deli and produce area??? every once in awhile I will either see a recipe or something mentioned about mushroom soup and think I ought to make some... not that we are close to a Walmart but one can have some picked up if they have a cooler to do so... or I can get some and make some soup oh speaking of recipes... what all do you put in your shrimp salad that you put on avocado? picked up some salad shrimp and have some avocado getting ripe I might have to wing it tomorrow but it would be nice to know what you do and see what I should have done... like I said the avocado's are getting ripe
did venture out in the snow to the store and got some of the stuff I thought we needed...
overslept this morning I think it was needed but still makes it hard to accomplish what one should do... looking at the poinsettia I think I should have watered plants might need to do something with it though ... it's leaves are noticeably drooping
I did finally call my sister told her that she needed to know that mom isn't doing well so that when I call to tell her that she has passed away she won't be shocked... that of course we don't know when just that there have been changes... dd said she even see's changes since Thanksgiving ... anyway hopefully she will be more willing to visit with us about it when it does come up on chat... and I think I am going to write more on one that we have as mom's kids so perhaps we can be on the same page I guess...
still haven't been able to open my color page as I told dd it's my relaxing spot and not happy I can't do it... been wondering if the phone needs an update not sure how to do that will give my youngest a call and see if she can help me with it or actually perhaps my son I think he has a pexel where as dd no longer has one that she uses guess she has it so when I call with questions she can refer to it...
you all have a great day

Sheila, yes the mushroom soup in in the cold case in the deli area. I forget their brand, Great Value maybe.

I don't know that I have ever made a shrimp salad. The one I like so much at the restaurant is chopped so fine I can't tell what's in it. The local deli sells one that is shrimp and macaroni. It probably has mayonnaise, celery and a little tomato.

Sheila, I love shrimp avovado salad. Found this online as similar to what I do.
