Damp Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Damp Monday

Postby Colliemom » Mon Dec 09, 2024 9:39 am

Good Morning. We are having a warm up and it’s been raining. Not a steady heavy rain, but just periods of light rain. Temps have been in the upper 40’s. Needless to say, that 3 feet of snow that we blew, plowed and shoveled through for the past week is now down to about a foot. Supposed to get some back starting late tomorrow into Thursday and then warm up again. This wimped is starting to look like last year. Rinse and repeat as the NWS calls it.

Karen, like your tire gauge. I have a small one for airing up my lawn tractor tires and stuff like that. I get my truck tires filled at one of the tire places here in town, no charge. I have 20 inch tires, so they take about 32-35 pounds of air. Martha, glad you got home before the really heavy rain started. Shelia, those code locks are nice. Most people put the last 4 numbers of their phone number in as their code. My neighbor has them on his door and has my number in them too, so I can access the garage and house. Another has one on his garage.

O’Sharon that link I posted for you in my post ysterday was the wrong one. I just corrected it this morning. Sorry about that.

Dang, the trash truck just came through. Probably caught half the neighborhood with no trash out including me. They usually don’t come till early afternoon. Oh well. No biggie. My one little bag will just be two next week.

Going to town today to look at some bookcases or something to set on each side of my TV. Might wind up making my own. Lowes sells really nice pine wood for that kind of thing and my TV stand is cedar wood. So will be out browsing and deciding what I want to do. Take advantage of the weather, clear roads and parking lots. Also want to check out carpeting as need to redo 2 bedrooms. So guess I will get cleaned up and hit the road, see what I find. Need to stop at Walmart too. Have a nice day everybody.

Good morning gals!

I know I have been AWOL lately but I have been busy finding a new place to live. I posted my new home on the Show Off Your RV page. I am very excited! :D

I hope you are all doing well and getting ready for winter and Christmas.

I promise to be back on here more often!

Morning Sue, even tho we have a dense fog warning it isnt too bad out. I can see the hills on either side of me which I usually cannot do in the fog. Ate some breakfast, took a shower and gathered all my bottles and cans so I could take them to the bottle drop. We have a $0.10 charge for each bottle so it behooves me to take them back every so often. I got $14 and change back WAHOO wherever will I spend that? I like to go early before the druggies get up and head in there. There were only a few people so no waiting for a machine to feed my bottles in. Then stopped at the store and picked up my bread and milk and a dozen eggs. WOW the cost of eggs like skyrocketed since I bought them last time and they had a limit of 1 So I bought the 18 pack for a little less than $5. Guess my bottle profits ate into that. So done with the errands this morning.

Now trying to figure out what I will make for dinner tonite. I am thinking the garlic butter shrimp over linguini. It is so good. Forgot to get a lettuce so no salad with it tonight as I am not going back out!!!! Going to set up my little Christmas tree today. Got my lighted table decoration on the dining room table all set up. Outdoor lights are finally working on the timer. So will hang my wreath on the front door and call it good. HO HO HO

Good afternoon! After the warm day yesterday with lovely sunshine we are back to the gloom and been raining all day. Says it’s 47 but it sure isn’t the same as the 47-48 we had yesterday. Sue, thanks for your suggestions to deal with the snowblower. Actually I went out with a hanger and screwdriver but much to my delight it was all melted. Moved it out in the sun anyway just to make sure it was all gone! But I did make a note of the de-icer you mentioned and will get a couple of cans next time I’m near the auto supply store. One for the garage and one for the car. Never heard of it but like the sound of it. I’ve thought about snowmobile pants but just don’t spend that much time outside to make it worth my while. My old coat works just fine for me for the title I need it. And realizing I don’t think we deal with the harsh winters like you do. Plus as I said, I don’t like to be out in it like you do! I get out with Buddy quite enough! And with the snowblower I can usually do the sidewalk up to the corner and my driveway in about 30 minutes or less. Enough to keep me happy! As I said the snowblower is enough fun for me! And the treadmill will have to do on really bad days for Buddy. We did chance the project yesterday and even though it was slushy we had a good walk. As usual part “free walk” and part training. I had him on the longer leash so I could stay out of the mess piled along the road but it was slushy and not ice so it was safe for the boy. Love days like we had yesterday. This week looks like rain and then back in the 20’s with snow the rest of the week into the weekend. I need to get to the store at some point this week so maybe since I have to be out tomorrow that’ll be the time to do it. Well see! Maybe I will and maybe I won’t! Irmi, hope you’re feeling better. My hat’s off to those of you with your Christmas decorations out. I haven’t put up anything for a number of years now. I do enjoy everyone else’s but since it’s just me it just isn’t on my list of things to do anymore. The church across the street got their nativity display in yesterday and I do enjoy seeing it every year. And years ago someone made a huge Santa and that gets put up in the park every year. It’s been in different locations around town but it’s finally found a home in the park. Plus there’s a few wooden soldiers too beside Santa. The town is putting on a Mid Century holiday festival this coming week end so it’ll be fun to walk around town and see it. Nice that I can just walk out my door and up a block to be in it all! So enough of my rambling…again! Need to figure out something for dinner for me, I suppose. Maybe a bowl of cereal will work tonight! Enjoy the rest of your day.

dd#3 came tonight brought yarn with her for her afghan so will have a new afghan to start on but want to finish the great nieces hat first working on the flower for it then it's a matter of attaching it and tucking away ends of the yarn she is excited for it... oh forgot I plan on making her sister a hat as well but it can go to the bedroom and I can work on it there...
the plumber came and went but we have no cold water in the bathroom need to let nephew know so he can contact the plumber I'm sure it's a matter of cold water needs to be turned on but who knows... and as I've said I don't do it if it's a matter of getting on the floor just isn't happening
I about have to stand on my head to help mom with removing her pj bottoms it's really difficult with the type of bandage looks like an ace bandage but it's attaches to it's self so it's hard to pull things up dd bought her some new bottoms hoping they will fit bandages and all guess we will see actually her legs look better but the knee looks swollen as well as one hand... can't win for losing
we still have it cold and no snow... none in the next few days... at least according to the phone weather app...
planning on making this spaghetti tomorrow night found it at a place in SLC right now can't remember the name think Spaghetti Factory but not positive... instead of red or white sauce they use brown butter with a special cheese I can never spell nor pronounce it starts with an M has a z and an r in it perhaps a th think it's from sheep but perhaps not as it wasn't on the partial list the one that I saw with a m wasn't it mizithra is the name and it's the Old Spaghetti Factory it's really good so looking forward to it
bought a spice combo the other day that I had heard about (one of the reels) thought it might be ok so found it took it home and yesterday I thought I'd open it up and smell it see what I think looks like someone else wanted to know what it smelled like as there was a good size hole in it going to take it back next time I go to the store...
our eggs haven't really gone down a doz is still over 4 dollars but do need to get some
years ago a cousin gave me a really good recipe for egg nog and one ingredient in it was a pkg of instant vanilla pudding haven't made it for years so thought I wanted to do so dd sent me the recipe and I can't remember what size they used so called cousin and left a message they sent back the recipe I replied but I still don't know the size of pkg said experiment I am pretty sure from the amount that it would be the small but they laughed when he ended the convo with we buy Southern Comfort Brand... but still think I will try making it once again will see ... so irritated with myself went to the store the other day looked at the receipt after I got home and thought when did milk go up that high thought I would check it out when I go looked at the milk today and realized that I'd bought Meadow Gold always more expensive... it wasn't on the right shelve
you all have a great day

I went to my annual checkup this afternoon. The doctor said my blood work looks good. I told him about the pain I have in my hips sometimes and he sent a prescription in for Naproxen. I looked that up online and I'm not sure I want to take that. A couple of weeks ago I ordered new lenses for my glasses and the lady called while I was at the doctor. I told her I would go by after my appointment. I didn't eat lunch before I headed to town and to was 3:30 when I got out of the clinic. Now I can't go a long time without eating something or I feel it. I stopped and picked up a shrimp poorboy. The lenses in my glasses were really scratched up and now the world is a lot brighter.

It was gray all day but still got into the 70's. I got 4 inches of rain yesterday and it was suppose to rain today but only got a couple of showers. I think we have more rain coming tomorrow and turning cold again on Wednesday.

Tomorrow I need to get the bedding out of the camper and wash it. I'm sure glad I had the new rugs at the campout. The floors get cold when it's cold outside. The cats broke the blind in one window while I was gone. I need to take it down and see if I can fix it.

I noticed a couple of weeks ago that Jumbo eggs were $6 a dozen at the local grocery store. They are higher that the other stores in town but handy. I think the last time I bought some at Walmart they were $3 something.

Egg prices are going to be even higher because of the Bird Flu spreading. I don't buy eggs at the big grocery stores so no idea what they cost here but for local farm eggs it's $5.00. I don't like factory farmed eggs!
Martha I don't blame you for not wanting to take Naproxen! If it is occasional pain would something like Tylenol or some type of exercise or therapy help? A good CBD could also help.
